Fans across the globe are preparing to come to Minneapolis to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Prince's film Purple Rain. The iconic movie and soundtrack catapulted native son Prince Rogers Nelson and his band the Revolution to the top of the music industry, as Reg Chapman reports, the impact on the music industry is still felt.

So nice to hear from American fam, I know it sounds fine, but trust me I’m so glad to hear new and old sand appreciating and getting inspired and how they were removed, changed just like I was when I first saw the movie at the USC Village theaters 40 years ago in the summer. It was a party in that theater. I’ve never been to a movie with that much energy and I left convinced Prince was it. And that has never fault her I will never fade
