Looking back, it's hilarious how out of the ordinary Alfie is.
Tommy predicts his gun in the drawer next to the whiskey, cause he thinks Alfie is just another hypocrite gangster breaking his own rules.
But the gun is to Alfie's left, not his right, and he doesn't drink. Not what Tommy is used to dealing with at all.

You see, the actor of Tommy was beaten up so many times for messing up that scene hence the nose bleed.
