I love this scene too. The younger Anastasia shows her what she has become and seems to be way wiser than the older version of herself.

Almost like each sultan mother became greedy for the throne once they got a taste. The commonality is they each wore hurrem ring, tone she said would curse anyone but her because it was a symbol of the love and soul connection with Suleiman. That same ring she had permission to be buried with

I am currently watching the last couple of episodes and all I hear her talking about is the state and how she kept it standing, she lost the sight of being a mother to her children
Kosem's lack of self awarness and perception is staggering as is her sense of entitlement & self importance. I think Murad would have become truly great sultan without Kosem - and Ibrahim may possibly have made a fair or even a good sultan.

@@user-vt2lm6mc6e I didn't say Ibrahim was a good Sultan. It's clear that he wasn't. I said he might possibly have been able to be a fair or good one if it hadn't been for Kosem. And I was commenting on the show, not about real history. Sorry if I didn't make that clearer.
There is a common threadline in this series - Hurrem was unable to defeat Nurbano, Nurbano was unable to defeat Safiye, Safiye was unable to defeat Kosem and Kosem was unable to defeat Turhan...😂😂

Turhan was unable to win emetullah Rabia gulnus. But irl Turhan never turned against valide sultan. Nurbanu also never turned against hurrem sultana.

Atike was brain f*cked after Ibrahim's execution, she now thought what Murad told her about their mom using his brothers as puppets for her own ambitions. Murad was smart and thinking 10 steps ahead of Atike.
Kosem was the cause of death of Bayezid, Osman, Kasim, Murad(Through bad drinking habit) and finally Ibrahim, luckily her grandson survived from being poisoned by Kosem.
Is not that murad was smarter than strike, it was that the king was him, kosem was restleing with him, he was the one damage so he could see it. Also atike was trying to think with more love about evrythg, her mom, etc
After the death of Ibrahim, Kosem would blame herself for all ( while she had not fault for Ibrahim and Bayezid, Mehmed was killed by Osman II even if she make some independant move because of the stressful position, show Murad was a true pain at least for me , Kasim more complicated). Atike is a spoiled brat who ignore everything and yet she give lessons to others .
After that she would became mad and make unforgivable move like try to kill Mehmed, an innocent child.
I agree about show version and historical Kosem.
But when I think about who had the most tragic fates of the women,I think those were Halime Sultan and Muazzez Sultan.
I mean all women had a tough life, but at least Mahidevran, Mihrimah, Safiye, Kosem, Ayse and etc had a period with good moments(as mothers, favourities consorts, Mihrimah as favourite child, Mahidevran in the provinces where Mustafa was governour),and they were left with good memories of them. But what about Halime and Muazzez?
They didn't really have any of this. They have hella depresive lives and very tragic end.

Kosem crossed the line to become a ruthless murder who is willing to kill the innocent way back in season 1. We see that with Isekender & Yaesmin (Kosem's own sister). Then Kosem gets even worse in season 2 - Farya, Ibrahim, Sultan Mehmet, Lalazar Kalfa etc

Did everyone treated the obvious difference between the young Kosem with the very light blond hair that suddenly transformed into a black-haired/brunette like it’s just a normal occurance or it has been addressed somewhere in the series that she has used some sort of permanent hair-dye? 😅
(yeah, blond hair might turns darker with age but when they changed the blonde Anastasia to the brunette Beren, it’s just occur in like not even a year in the series)
Kosem sultana in real life was a brunette/black haired not blonde. I don't really know why did they use anastasia for the first episodes because beren saat (2nd kosem) was chosen to play kosem since the very start. She was supposed to play till the last but she left the show in between. They could have just let her play since the start so the confusion between a brunette and blonde wouldn't arise.
@@jaima0127 I think it’s better that Beren didn’t act the role of the much older Kosem too. At least we can still remember her as the lovely protective maternal version of Kosem with Beren’s face, rather than the later version of the domineering power-hungry ruler that didn’t hesitate to kill even her own child (which Nurgul has carried out perfectly)
And Hurrem’s actress has been change with age too.
@@MissLaraAshcroft yeah I liked the fact that they changed kosem as she gets older because just like you said I like to imagine beren as a loving and protective mother and partner. She was brave and cunning but kind but in the last episode you could see her soul slowly dying after facing the death of her sons and nurgul cared way more for power than her children. She became the more worse version of Safiye Sultan. I agree that nurgul was best choice for season 2. Although I loved anastasia I wished beren could have the whole season 1 so it would be easier to recall her and Ahmets raw love.
@@jaima0127 on the contrary I actually wished Anastasia could stay longer in the role, at least wait until some bit of time skip before they cut it abruptly in the middle just like that 😅 I started to be invested in this drama because of the chemistry between Anastasia & Ekin. They’re so good representing sweet innocent love together in their scenes.
Maybe Beren could starts on the second phase when they’re already becoming parents together with those kids and has evolved into Kosem that’s already not a novice in the harem & politics.
I don't mind whether Kosem ia blonde or brunette, but it really bothers me (and probably many others) that the younger Kosem had different hair from the older Kosem, like they're 2 different people. The abrupt difference ruins the continuity. Younger Kosem should have brown hair w/ this older Kosem, or the older Kosem could have had blonde hair like the younger one. I mean, look at Hurrem...
I liked Anastasia I couldn't watch the film after the transformation of Anastasia to kosem , they were totally different , from innocent and pure to murder and evil dark spirit 😞

It is Sad that this show made the tyran and cruel Murad like a Nice and lovely person, and Kosem that was known as a lovely mother to the people in need (they mourned 3 days for her) like she was the bad.

No wonder Atike turns on Kosem, first Kosem murders Sihlaterer & Farya without cause, betrays Murad & attempts to dethone & kill him & does all the things Anastasia cites here. And that is not to mention murdering Iskende, her own sister (Yaesmin) & keeping Sultan Mustafa locked up for years. Great seeing Madame Margrette thwart Kosem's vicious plot to poison Sultan Mehmet - she took Farya's revenge for her. Very sad for Lalezar Kalfa. Pity that Haci Agha didn't have the decency & mercy here that Bubul Agha had years earlier when he disobyed Sultana Safiye's order to murder Kosem. In my view, Kermankes fails his last chance at redemption here; he should have stayed loyal to Murad all along.
Anastasia shouldn't have been replaced. Beren Saat is a great actress but she did not do justice to the kosem's character.
Yea, she seemed like a stilt. Everytime Kosem was accused or lectured about something, Beren Saat would just stand there with no emotion on her face. It was a good idea to switch actresses to show growth and development in character but I don't think she was appropriate for the role.
@@TravelerCathy2023 Beren's kosem seemed too much of herself. Nurgul played the character well as well. She seemed like a queen with many responsibility and arrogant. But Beren's kosem seemed like she is in the top of the world. And if they were recasting anastasia I think they should have recasted ahmed as well because Ekin looked so younger than beren's kosem which made the things look so awkward.
I was always curious why they changed Anastasia, couldn't they leave this first one to the end? I feel like they didn't gave a chance to show herself more , and it's sad how Anastasia/Kosem changed and destroyed herself and her children, how She became someone that even I don't recognize, when I looked on both Anastasias it's like someone took this first Anastasia like bad aliens or something and put someone who became so bitter and ugly inside that made me stopped liking and watching this show

Hurrem all the way. Kosem was getting into people’s business too much. Hurrem. Was busy staying loyal to Suleiman. That was what made Hurrem more endearing…her Loyality. She love her kids. She NEVER pitted them against each other. All her kids squabbling happened after her death.
Idk feels like kosem is more strategic/cruel since she doesn't mind sacrificing her kids. Hürrem on the other hand was still a mother through and through.
Comparing with kosem, hurrem was way far better...

Anastasia and Kosem are the same person indeed, but played by different actresses. In this scene, Kosem (as an older woman) sees her younger self, Anastasia, who represents the innocent girl she used to be in the past. Basically her younger self is blaming her for becoming cruel and selfish. When she was younger, she promised she would never be a tyrant, but she forgot her promise and became obsessed with power.

The new grand vizier, Sofu Mehmed Pasha, petitioned the sheikh ul-Islam for a fatwā sanctioning Ibrahim's execution. It was granted, with the message "if there are two caliphs, kill one of them." Kösem also gave her consent. Two executioners were sent for; one being the chief executioner who had served under Ibrahim. As the executioners drew closer, it was reported that Ibrahim's last words were: "Is there no one among those who have eaten my bread who will take pity on me and protect me? These cruel men have come to kill me. Mercy! Mercy!"As his mother, Kösem Sultan, and officials watched from a palace window, Ibrahim was strangled on 18 August 1648

@@user-sy9ev8hh5k they don’t. But this could be the historical case bc sun brightens hair color. Anastasia was living a free life but with years of being indoors in the harem, her hair could’ve gone darker (normal color actually) sun bleaches hair.
