Weird screenshot for an underwater expansion... 🤔
As much as I'd love to see underwater expansion (and underwater combat overhaul in general), if even flooded Cantha and Sea Dragon were not enough to give that to us, nothing will.
First Anet reused Skimmer to function as underwater mount, then we got extra way to move ABOVE the water. Then despite some quite important underwater fights in EoD (Leviathan for collections) plenty of skills if not outright specializations are not functional underwater (and Aquatic Fractal is still a freakin' thing despite many support builds not working there).
In the end I just hope Anet will scratch idea of aquabreathers and underwater weapon skins will become available on land (or maybe recycle them as new weapons to keep those old skins relevant).
@@NaoyaYami I mean we are obviously getting north west compass with SOTO, north east with fifth, so sixth, seventh, and eighth can be center/south east/south west.
Center being TENGU CITY DOMINION OF WINDS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
South East being Dzalana and finally connecting the Desert Gate up as a way to PoF as that'd be smart a vanilla, pof, and new expansion gate to the hub there maybe.
South West tho would be the one to do unending ocean stuff, drowned kaiend, the islands off the main land which would be awkward, but the south button for cantha is already south west so idk. Maybe it'd be centered at the land mass all the way west over there too. Either way we could see some underwater overhaul there.
They could just add a specialization that has the same skillset above and below water, and allows to use underwater weapon on land. That would be awesome if they went with the underwater expansion.

I would personally love an underwater expansion, but I do realize, I would be very much in the minority :D
Love that they’ve added it.
Now we can flex on the plebs with the use of 100g+ dyes for a single accent channel on the boots that’s hidden by our pants.
God don't even remind me of expensive dyes, I got Energized Jade once, at the time didn't know how expensive dyes could be, consumed right away, there went my chance to get 90G

I would LOVE it, it bothered me SO much that we see a delta region so close(ish) of core map e never get to see it
I was thinking that the picture reminded me of Lake Doric for some reason.
I liked the "what is that skin?" as a conversation starter. But I guess most players are happy with this, so I can't complain
Now it will be replaced with "how do I get it?" since knowing the place it comes from doesn't explain how to get to that place.
I love to sometimes just walk around places and if I see fashion I like, I simply complement them. Works the same, and now you don't have to hope that they are not afk If you really want to know the skin ! 🎉
Loving the inspection feature and its implementation. Keeping it strictly cosmetic is definitely the way to go. Listing where the cosmetic is from is both helpful and genius. If the cosmetic can be acquired in game then it keeps the players focused on earning it and if the cosmetic is from the gem store it keeps players constantly cruising the gem store in anticipation of it’s rerelease. Genius!
an actual gear checker would have been alot better for statics.
For the screenshot teaser... There is what appears to be a small grouping of islands N of Skywatch Archi-pel-ah-go and E of Bastion of Knowledge in Amnytas. I wonder if that is maybe a Charr homeworld-like replica land?? It sits directly under where the "Horn of Maguuma" words are on the map if you zoom in/out centered on that area
Price of that mist dye is like 5x now. Heh, classic.
Text that outlines how the item is obtained is even BETTER than an Inspect feature! A QoL on top of QoL. Like having gliders, mount skins, and novelties tied to equipment templates. HINT HINT, Arenanet!!!

i only hope this wont result in ppl not talking to eachother anymore 😂 ive had ppl stop and ask me about my gear/skins and ive done the same to others and its always a really lovely experience. hopefully this wont stop ppl from still doing that. aah so exciting!
My thoughts on this:
1 - There are thousands of other ways to start a conversation than just "where did that hat come from"
2 - new players won't know how to inspect, so that convo could still happen
3 - I doubt they will add "where this item is obtained from" to every one of the thousands of items in the game, so I imagine people , even if they can inspect you, they may still ask where you got XYZ item
And you can still complement people for their outfit ^^
Stop saying dumb shit like "oh, people won't talk to each other anymore", please.
EVERY damn MMO has inspect and people still talk to each other.
The expansion screenshot reminds me of Dalada Uplands in Guild Wars: Eye of the North, the map where you can find the dreaded Devourer Endboss Molotov Rocktail.
For me it kinda looks like north of Kryta. Like Drizzlewood but _less cold_ if you know? It could be between Lake Doric and Bastion Of The Penitent or even north of Divinity's Reach which would be called Janthir Bay WHICH isn't even far away to the Horn Of Maguma (Which is our latest expansion)
I remember going through that area on my ranger in GW1. That has to be it!
I hope the inspect cosmetics is the first step towards fashion templates.
It can be the region where we got Grothmar Valley, something upper from Ascalon that has most of the same vegetation type and looks overall before the searing....
My wooded Next Expac guess would be the Woodlands above Divinity's Reach leading up to the Isles of Janthir. The area has been mentioned in the current expac in passing.
And yeah, the cosmetic change is a good thing, I get asked about my gear skins all the time.
Theory I threw out to a couple friends of mine - we go to where the Flame Legion first met the Titans back before GW1, in the area N/NE of current Ascalon. With maybe a Realm of Torment map in the way they did Nayos this xpac.
One can dream at the very least.
That would be cool, and be an obvious use of the top right for the compass on the map. I'd love to see more of that area of the world

Teaser Picture. That was my first thought too, from GW1, that area, I just showed the same Zone to my Husband. Very interesting.
There are much more needed QoL Features like a cooldown timer for the second weapon bar or a targets target option. Or just an option to show healthbars outside of groups.

pre searing Ascalon is exactly what I thought when I first saw it. I think I even recognize that exact path on the way to the village.
My first thought was that it looked like Queensdale around Greatheart Weald (where the angry trees are). Thus maybe north of DR?
This could be the Charr Homelands north of Ascalon. Area from EoTN. Looks very similar, and likely accessible from Grothmar Valley.
that screenshot reminds me place in WoW where you need to jump into similar location to hunt harpies.

in GW1 there was a special title that could be earned if you leveled a character to max level (20) in the Pre-searing Ascalon, the title was called Legendary defender of Ascalon (LDoA).
my guess for the new expansion is that it's either on north kryta (next to wing 4, bastion of the penitent), or somewhere to the right, north or northeast of ascalon

My first thought on seeing the picture was Ascalon. Never played GW1, so I have no pre conceptions.

As the X5 clip became visible, I thought we were seeing Grothmar. North Ascalon or south Grothmar... we both may be correct.
My first guess seeing the teaser image was somewhere around the area north of Kryta. But who knows.

It looks to me like dalda uplands around doomlore shrine with cathedral of the flames . Looks exactly like a spitting image of an area right after the portal from gorthmar wardowns

I hope they update Show/Hide options so each equipment set has its own preference (so you can hide helmet on slot 1 but show it on slot 2, for example)
I also hope they update the Legendary Armoury to not suck for weapons and sigils.
Dzalana (south east of Fields of Ruin, there's a Gate) or East of Blood Legion Homelands, 100%.
I hope the next expansion takes place at the other side of the brand, like dzalana or that big ass lake at the border of the map

Tengu area on kryta what we are looking for! It could fit on some area on zone
Instead of gear inspection I think the main need for this could be achieved by simply having the character's currently selected build template name listed under their name when you mouse over their squad icon (the window that also shows their achievement points). Most people name their build templates clearly for their own reference but if not I think people would get in the habit of it if this was implemented. This would get rid of the need to constantly ask people what their role is, and would also make sorting subgroups easier for the commander, without the need to gatekeep based on gear.
Hopefully will use one of the three dead portals in the game like the one in Brisban

Like to see some Charr using Jade tech honestly think it would be cool, or catch up with the destruction of the charr conflict hopefully it spilt out of control eastward.

It would be nice if we could change the race, gender and class when previewing armor pieces and outfits. Like if I get a reward chest with selectable skins I could check if there is something good for an alt account if they are not good for my current one.
Inspect Feature is great. I would still love cosmetic templates the same way i can save different equipment templates so i can switch my whole outfit without switching my gear.
I think it’s going to be a fractal of pre searing ascalon a la Skywatch Archipelago where we fight evil Charr. And then maybe we go to the blood legion homelands

If they could show cosmetic infusions without showing what stat they're currently set to - it would be neat. I'm not personally worried about them showing infusion stats, but still, I'm sure /someone/ would find a way to make it a requirement to run full cosmetic infusions with appropriate stats selected as a way to filter out newer players. (Both the cost of setting up that many - even with relatively cheaper options available, plus also the hassle of getting a full set with entirely perfect stats selected)
I wonder what would happen with weapon's like the primitive pike, as they are old pvp weapons, and are no longer available, so it's pretty interesting how this will work. I thought Ascalon as well tbh.
Just like you I thought of pre-searing fist, but then came krytan mission on the swamps from gw1 and lastly those tall spiky trees spoke to me "drizzlewood".

A very old online game called Perfect World was doing this right from the very launch of the game. I'm surprised that GW2 has just started doing this, they are like a decade behind. lol

it is possible to tame a bear in pre-searing ascalon, i remember i done it, you need another ranger to help you with it; basically you want your helper's charm pet to grab the bear's attention so you can do the full cast to charm the bear
I just remember trying to get it long ago and at the time information was so scarce I wasn't sure if it was just a rumor or real lol

Not hyped about inspect function, i kinda liked when people had no clue how i achieved a particular look. But i can understand the hype behind it.
Glad this is being added, but can't help but think that a bunch of conversations that otherwise would happen aren't going to, and that feels like a loss.

Not a fan really of the comestic inspection and realistically I'll only use it at Halloween, however it's the other stuff coming with it im more of a fan of. Mainly because i know many ppl that don't want to use 3rd party stuff to find information, so having it mention or show where you can get the item in game is better. More in game information is always better aslong as it doesnt become a cluttered mess lol.

100% agree cosmetic infusions should be shown. They make a huge difference. Just do not show the stats… seems pretty simple…

Personally, I keep wondering what exactly they could do for another expansion to really draw me in. I'd love Heroes or more playable races, but the amount of work to do that would be ridiculous. I'm guessing they are cashing in more nostalgia. I don't have any for GW1 (didn't play in my childhood, my wife introduced me to it in 2020) and want a reason to support Anet more.

They should add a different story for each class for every expansion..because after you completely finish the game with one class the story is exactly the same for every single class afterwards.. and you can't skip 90% of dialogue even after doing a playthrough.. is why i stopped playing a few months ago after doing 2 complete playthroughs..
Can the Live Team be put in charge of everything? 'cause they seem to knock every project out of the park.
