  • Thanks to one of my viewers, Miro, we have now a working code generator for the new JK Inverter-BMS for Force Updating firmware updates. This Force Updating is necessary if you want to downgrade your firmware, or the BMS got stuck during the update and is now bricked.
    In both cases, you had to contact JK-BMS in China and ask for this specific code to enable the Force Updating function in the PC software. It was always a hassle getting this code and entering it in a timely manner into the software because the code expired after just 1h.
    Well, this is no longer a problem thanks to Miro's Code Generator which he has hosted on his Github website!
    Thanks a lot, Miro, that was a great achievement and contribution to our community!

    Big Thanks to Miro! This is AWESOME!
    A little information for general clarification:
    The codes do NOT work (at least on the new Inverter BMS models, I only have those) to bypass forgotten or incorrectly set settings passwords! These are only for the firmware flash! My PB2A16S20P made a complete mess when setting up for the first time and setting my password and I was completely locked out! ESPHOME in conjunction with an ESP32 and "esphome-jk-bms" helped here. From there, flash the "esp32-ble-example.yaml" (with adjustments to your own BMS) to the ESP. The password set in the BMS is then displayed in the LOG file! The BMS or the software had saved my set password completely reversed... For whatever reason! for example, "123456" became "214365"!

    Aloha from Hawaii! I am living off the grid at my farm and have a very reliable PV system consisting of 12 250W 30v panels, a PowMr 5000W hybrid controller, and 2 24v x 100Ah LiFePO4, batteries hooked up in series to give the 48v needed for the PowMr. It is working without any problems except when there is 2 days of bad weather with little or no direct sunlight which runs down the batteries. I want to add an extra 100Ah of 48v battery so that I can weather the 2 days when that arises.. My question is since my original batteries are nearly 3 years old, is there going to be any issues with incorporating new batteries to my system. I really enjoy your channel for your more in depth approach to living with an off grid solar system.

Ginge über CAN nicht auch noch mehr an Infos? We will soon'ish have a solution for that to connect the new JK Inverter BMS to the CAN to CAN Multiboards, Peter is currently developing. This will connect them via RS485 and we can have the data of all BMS in Victron and HA.

    • @pcmoeller
      @pcmoeller Před 3 měsíci

      @@OffGridGarageAustralia That also sounds interesting, but then it doesn't seem to be a native CAN. I already have everything in HA via esphome and with serialbattery and RS485 you can also get everything to Victron. But all of this already works with the old JKs. The advantage of the new BMS with CAN connection is somehow lost. I switched from the old JKs to the new ones because I was hoping for simple and secure communication with Victron. I have change my old JK-BMS to the Inverter JK-BMS so far so good. But I think that the 100% full SoC to trigger within only one cell hit the 3,45v are :-( . Can you talk with JK and let use „cell average voltage“. Today we have a bit off sun here in Berlin Germany and the SoC jumps from 80 - 100% and the cell average voltage are max 3,41v.. is this a Diskussion worth? Regards and „Schönes Wochenende“

      Average voltage will not work to trigger the 100%. If charging to 3.45V, ALL cells must be at that voltage to have the average at 3.45V too. That would mean 0mV delta across all your cells. Never seen this in any BMS.

    After i am watching your video i could understand that until now the best solution for bms is not the latest jk version is that correct

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I would still say the JK is the best in its class. Due to the ongoing firmware updates, they will get there and solve all issues.

    Hi Andy good thing that code is fine Listen I have to the JK A battery must be connected to update it or not because I have connected it to a stabilized power supply I have made the connection to the pc but I can not update it even by entering the brute Force code I have not connected loads or the temperature sensor or I am connected the cables for the display and then the negative and positive of the power supply with the its cable to the positive but Nada is not able to update So I will have to connect it to a battery that I have at home from 16 s280 amp

    • @OffGridGarageAustralia
      @OffGridGarageAustralia  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Power supply is fine, no need for balance cables or connecting it to a battery. It just needs to run for the update.
      Maybe you have the wrong fw for your BMS?

    Hi Andi. Is it right that a Tesla has over 30% charging losses. Maybe you can check that. If it's right that would be a mess.

    Hallo Andi. Nochmal auf deutsch. Ladeverluste eines Tesla über 30% ? Wäre Interressant das zu überprüfen. Liebe Grüsse nach Down under aus Austria.

      @omdiro I don't even have a JK-BMS, but this is a massive win, thank you! When you BUY such a device, you should OWN it. Not be dependant on the manufacturer to allow you to do with it as you see fit. Ridiculous.
