I just did a ritual following your instructions and I messed up a few parts and getting the words out was hard stuttering a few times but I was able to do it, I used a hammer that my late grandfather owned I thought it was perfect especially if it was something from my ancestor. I gave my thanks to Thor for being the guardian of midguard and the realm eternal and for giving me the strength to control my fears and expressed to be friends I also asked for strength to tell my family one day. Most of my family are Christians most will probably won’t understand mostly my mother who was born paranoid and my great aunt who’s a southern Christian so yeah

That, my friend is why we started this channel. BLOT should not be creepy and cult like, it should be comfortable and natural. May your new found skill bring you comfort in sad times, prosperity in lean times, laughter in hard times and bring you closer to the gods of our folk. Hail.

That’s great that you did it I hope you continue to do other workings and use your words it does feel kind of weird to talk it out but just like a prayer a poem or wishes and that’s why we do it because you’re focusing your intentions and trying to match up your vision of what you want for yourself and what do you want to have as goals and it’s always helpful in everyone’s life to have those.

I'm a recent convert from Christianity. The part of you talking about telling Christian family. I have the same feelings and fears. I have a real good friend who's a dedicated Christian too. So telling these people will be hard, but I know will be a weight off of my shoulders. My great grandma I won't tell, she's hardcore dedicated, hates bagpipes type of Christian. I'm mostly into Norse Mythology, but I'm into Ojibway and Finnish mythology. These were my ancestors true beliefs, and if it makes me a heathen following it, so be it.

@@end0skeleton404 yeah I told my gram and aunt there a bit understanding but my mother I haven’t been told yet and probably not gonna to. I guess the hardest part of being a pagan in either mythology like me I’m a Norse men and I believe in my Irish ancestry mythology, never trust a leprechaun, the hardest part is being surrounded by people who back in time thought of us as monsters still think that we are, the only reason Christianity is as popular is because of big city traders wanted pagans to convert no man with nails in his hand

Late to this channel but enjoying it.
I left the church about 5 years ago and began calling myself heathen about 2 years ago. I’ve told my siblings but not my parents. They’re old and in poor health. I wear a Hammer but don’t exactly advertise it. It would break my mother’s heart to know she won’t see her son in the Christian heaven. When she finds me in Helheim it won’t be an issue. We can talk about it then.

Cool, clean, simple and to the point. Excellent video on blot' for those new to the path. Myself having been Heathen for many, many years, basically the only things I do different are first I consecrate the circle with fire; either a censur bowl or a candle. Second, I also close above and below in addition to the four corners. But that's just me. Everyone does what they feel comfortable with, and what they feel the gods expect from them. TAK!

I feel the world needs more of this.
I personally feel many heathens blot or sumble privately because they fear of what others might say.
    “You’re doing it wrong”
    “You messed up”
    “You didn’t add this”
And at the end of the day I’m sure of it, the gods would appreciate the effort alone, than to fear attempt.
I personally try to keep it original as possible, with modern, realistic attributes.
My family doesn’t and I don’t believe in wasting food, so burning the offering, burying it, or leaving it isn’t a practice we do. I typically will use a liquid offering as you stated, but if it’s a food, such as a meal or feast, I’ll typically dedicate the meat of the animal to the gods, ask them to bless the meal, and invite them to feast within the meal. Kinda like we were sharing the meal with them.
    Hail to you!

nice simple instructional video. I think a ritual knife is a important tool but I always cut a hlauteinn. I also think some kind of fire is very important this could be a candle or a bonfire. I pass an iron hammer and a lit candle over the perimeter of my circle. another thing I like to do is an appropriate sending off of the offerings, either dig a hole and pour it in or into a body of water or scattered up to the sky or into the fire as appropriate. spiritual hygiene is important purify and consecrate your thoughts speech and actions, your ve and your tools and make sure who your offering is going to is explicitly stated.

Traditionally the hammer was used to bless and consecrate, but wear what you like and use what feels right during ritual. All of the gods are associated with some weapons or tools. I will put together a video on it.

As far as offering go. I have it is not good to offer your own blood. Is there a particular reason for this? I dont know anything that can be more sacred to oneself other than the essence of one self.

    • @northwoodskindred
      @northwoodskindred  Před rokem +2

You could find an argument on either side of that issue. 🤔 I personally would not promote any sort of self harm or blood letting. The only reference to it that i am aware of, is a little bit, concerning the runes, in Egil's saga, and an oath of brotherhood in Gisli's saga. Other than that it is either made up or borrowed from other traditions. The only blood I would offer is the blood of a sacrificed animal under very strict and humane set of personal standards.

As pagans and heathens take their power and spirituality back. There will be a day when the world returns to its pagan roots and abandons the church with all of it atrocities and human right violations covered up by the ruling elite. Decentralized spirituality will be dominant again, not excluding Christ, as his followers will discover that their main churches are all corrupt they will begin to worship on their own terms, like pagans. 👍

We are born as we are born and we become what we become. I will simply show how we do it, independent of all the categories that divide us. Hopefully people find something useful that helps them feel closer to their gods. It is unlikely that I would get along very well with many heathens and pagans these days. Although I wouldn't hang out with many of them I defend their right to assemble and worship however and whomever they want.
