I call 3rd person "doggy style" and since I've been using a wheel I am a total mess trying to drive doggy. So I'm 100% with you guys. 🙄 Credit to Alan being able to swap between views, a controller and the wheel, whilst managing to stay reasonably consistent.
Yes, but the chase cam is the only camera view that lets us see what the car is doing, and how it's responding to the inputs. The dash cam doesn't give us anything but a look at the windshield reflections, and the stage, not very useful for trying to see how the car handles, and if the game may be worth buying.
@@stburr91 you can see enough with first person view if you can see throttle and brake inputs. 3rd person is just blank boring tbh.
@@kOBR4one If we're talking about boring, that would be the bonnet view. If you can't get a lot of information about how the cars handle while watching in the chase cam, then you aren't paying attention.

I would love if KT kept supporting this game for a few years and add at least the more famous super specials we've seen this year in the WRC. The smaller tracks should be less time consuming to create and could bring more people to the game since they're usually the ones broadcasted on TV or CZcams.
Shame the console version got delayed but at least it matches the PC release, and the pricing of the game is astounding for all the content they managed to put in!
I don't think many people will be playing this game once the EA WRC game comes out late 2023, or early 2024, so I wouldn't expect much, if any new content to be released for this game.

Recent Codies' games have just been expensive production values without the gameplay to back it up.
Sure, they have nice graphics, sounds, tracks, but I just can't enjoy all that good stuff because the gameplay loop, the driving in this case, is mediocre at best.
Sadly many people look over the gameplay loop and that's why EA can keep churning out these awful games that everyone still buys because they look and sound good on their 8K TV.
@@schorschkluni5067 Kylotonn's WRC licence ends in September 2023, so the Esport season for 2023 will end a little earlier than normal. Nobody knows when EA will have their WRC game ready to release, but it's estimated to be sometime in about the fall of 2023, to early 2024.

Alan, you've made my Sunday arvo. Cheers mate, I do enjoy these long uploads. Every time the Kiwi rally rolls around I remember Possum Bourne who was killed during recce in the early 2000's. He had quite a few years running a works Scoobie alongside Colin and at one time (IIRC) Alistair McRae in the early days of Subaru.
Did already the pré order for the Deluxe edition on ps5, so excited to play this game

I've gotten 2 world record stage times on WRC 10 the past couple days getting ready for Generations!! thats in the Rally2 class btw. I'm not good enough to get a record in Rally 1 yet.

Handling wise, it looks absolutely the same like WRC 10, and i hope the chnage the car sounds, codemasters had fantastic sounds in dirt rally, i hope they will bring these sounds to WRC!
It might look similar, but it's not. This is as different from 10, as 10 was to 9 and as that was from 8. Radical changes every time as explained in the preview.
@@TeamVVV 10 was no different from 9, just worse. So what you just said means that 11 is even worse than 10. Wich is exactly what everybody expects from KT at this point.

The paddle shifters are part of the wheel, not a seperate component.
It’s a shame they didn’t use the actual shakedown from this years Rally NZ(Inland Road) as that’s my road so would have been good to see it on a game haha

Way to stand your own in the comments with the Dirt Rally Stans. It’s okay to like more than one series. Competition is good, look at what the poor Madden fans have to deal with. Gameplay looks real good.
Yeah I point that out, there's almost constant attack from some of the Dirt Rally fans with no credit where it is due.

Hi Team VVV, how do you rate the damage simulation in WRC Generations? How hard is it to get DNF?

In general I use 360, maybe slightly less here as I find it helpful to control the rear with swift inputs.

The handling just still looks off to me the cars and tracks look great but something is still not right the car should be gripping but just doesn't....
Depends who you talk to, half the comment complain the car doesn't slide enough, then they reduce grip and increase weight transfer, then we see complaints of not enough grip. Felt good to me when playing.

@@Nadk2010 I'll add that, when I did my rally training I felt quick. Then when a real rally driver took me out, not only did I realise how much faster you can go, it also felt more like an arcade game.
What exactly looks off?
I'm not sure how much I'm going to like this game, the extra weight of the cars this year just makes it seem borderline as to if it's going to be fun, in WRC1 at least. Looks like you have to be so patient waiting for the car to turn in before you can get on the throttle again. And if you go even slightly off line it's almost a given you'll slide wide into a rock and it takes an eternity to recover the car even if you don't hit something on the outside of the corner. I'm sure I'll get the game as I'm a Rallying tragic but as usual I'll get most of my fun from WRC2 where you can flick the cars aggressively rather than just roll through the corners.
You'll be pleased to know the weight system has been better balanced, a big difference to the first build I demonstrated. Various improvements to weight and height of centre of gravity, plus braking improvements. All making the driving more intuitive, that's not to say there isn't always room for improvement. The main thing is to get the car in early, attack the apex, get the rear out. If you wait too late you'll lose bags of time and probably go wide. Hence I have gone for a more sensitive wheel setting than usual.
@@TeamVVV Looked like hard work at the wheel on these stages, I'm sure the e-sport guys are going to have to really earn it this year! There are always some nice adjustments, I do recall a few years ago (WRC9 maybe) if you went slightly too fast into a corner the rear would just skid out instantly on hairpins. Time will tell how it fares. As you mentioned on a previous video it will require a different driving style which at the very least will keep the series fresh.
Honestly, don't expect the changes that happened in real life to be reflected in the game. It's not a simulator, just a silly simcade. The "physics" of the KT engine aren't that sophisticated, and neither are the ones who made it. What you see is just a visualization of their idea of how the extra weight affects handling. Speculation.
As for real life....the extra weight has no effect because now the new cars have much better chassis (not using the production chassis), more power and better transmission. Hell i'd say the new cars should handle better and be faster.
Also does this game have the WRC cars from last year? or are they faster than the hybrids and needed to be removed?
Some of the previous gen cars are in the game as bonus cars.

Yeah that used to really bug me, you get excited to drive past Ogier when you’ve been in a fight with him then at the finish he’s 20 seconds fast. Really takes you the immersion

The first minutes reminds me Colin McRae Rally 1 on PS1 and PC. I love that game so much. WRC Generations looks beautiful but I am still disapointed by the fact that the roads are unrealistics...
Colin Mcre didn't have precise location modelling either, yet we enjoyed it for what it was and that's why I can enjoy WRC Generations for what it is and appreciate what the dev teams have accomplished, the biggest WRC game ever in terms of locations.
How is the frame pacing?. the last game was very weird for me, quite a stuttery feeling.
Much better on the builds I have tested so far.

Minor gripe, but I wish KT would provide better anti-aliasing solutions. So much artefacing in this video, especially on the wire fences.
KT couldn't provide more basic things. You're asking too much from them.
This isn't going to be a full priced title at launch (I heard some such talk in the comments) ? I'm debating buying WRC 9 or waiting for Generations, since I don't have any games bought from the series yet.
Personally 8 was the peak for me but that’s because of optimisation issues I had with the game, 9 and 10 where fine for other players.
@@kevedwards 8 seems to be good as well, but the rain puddles issue... Graphics performance may be better in all these games with 30/60/120 FPS limit on, but ultimately seems to be based on luck. Thank you, I will try WRC 8 especially if I can't get the new ones working.
@@hingi_games5421 that might be my issues actually my monitor is 144 although I think i remember trying 120 when trying to fix 9.
The pre-order price is, $40 for the standard game, and $50 for the deluxe version, I would expect it to be at least that much at launch. WRC 9 is quite a different game from what Generations will be. Generations will have different cars, (somewhat) better sound, better handling/physics, and a lot more locations/stages. If you were going to get an older WRC game, I would consider getting 10, it has more content than 9. However, I would really consider waiting for Generations, and see how the reviews are, and get that if you think the reviews are good.
@@stburr91 Thank you, that price seems reasonable. I just really hope they have ironed out the stutter issues and such this time, otherwise it's looking very promising.

No idea but I doubt it.
There is Player Experience LEvel aside from Career Level.
What is that Player Experience Level, do you know?
Not yet, still much of the game awaiting further development updates before I can test everything. Some of these features won't be available till the week of launch.

Graphically looks like a small upgrade to 10. Hope they fix the boring cockpits and dim outside view from cockpit view making night races impossible
I'd say it's a decent upgrade looking side-by-side of some stages. WRC10 was washed out and ugly. Monte Carlo in generations looks far better than 10.

I know this sounds like a strange question, but why is this game only £34.99? Hasn’t every other WRC game made by them been £55/£60. Like what’s the catch here?

@@subzero3626 I'm sorry but has the Dirt all new stages everytime? No. And they doing the game not every year. Let's even go further, has F1 new different tracks every year? No. I mean, even WRC Rally Evolved from Evolution Studios had same stages as in WRC 4, Then same story with Milestone's WRC. I mean even in real life very often they drive on same stages. And then finally, if the game would cost £50 people will complain that's expensive. So cheap, not good, expensive, not good. Biggest content ever, not good.

Just to confirm, I watched every stage in the Rally this week. Not a single stage was on the coast. And there was zero tarmac except the launch of one course (the power stage) and the Super Special Stage, which was in a parking lot lmfao.

Tried my best to support Kyloton during their licence but they lost me at 9, the optimisation on ultrawide monitors seemed to drop to a point where you couldn’t play the career or properly select all the stages because of the UI but also since then the game has looked terrible with massive AA issues, objects flickering and jagged edges, trees etc made the experience very underwhelming, could never get round it with 9 then was disappointed to see them return with 10, I even reinstalled 10 last week in the hope it had been rectified but it was still the same. It’s a shame because I actually loved the stages and the psychics where quite nice also. There’s a lot of players with the same issues. Some have said it’s less noticeable playing at 1440 and above so maybe it’s not optimised for 1080, who knows. Apart from that though for a small studio they did a fantastic job with bringing some realism into the title that I can’t see EA improving on too much. Am sure codemasters will make a fun game for the masses though with a physics engine that tricks players into thinking they’re playing a sim a bit like DR2.

@@TeamVVV Great, thanks. 👍 the AA was really noticeable even stationary there was flickering, the trees and scrubs etc where particular poor. No matter what graphics settings I changed it all pretty much looked the same, worth noting not everyone with an ultrawide, I asked Leza who had the same monitor at the time and he had no issues, I think he’s on triples now though.
So you're saying that 99% of the simracers, who elevated DR2 at the top of rally games, second only to RBR, have been tricked? That DR2 is and ARCADE game? Are you THAT stupid and arrogant? How do people like you even exist in the first place?

Any chance they've fixed console issue where you can't see the stages before picking tyres? This pretty much ruined the career mode for me and left me just doing time trials.

In the main they are pretty good, there are some calls which are very dependent on how you approach the corner. These things are always difficult to perfect.
They could have tried to model the right RIMS for the Rally1 cars...

It's funny you say that, I was watching the real onboard this weekend and it always looks slower depending on the fov of the camera used. Cut to the replays and they are flying. No issues with the sense of speed when playing, you get a much faster sensation with bonnet cam.
The extra weight of the hybrid electric cars now are causing that. Looks particularly the case in slow corners. Takes longer for the cars to change direction.
The impression of speed is also reduced in cockpit view with the absence of blur.
The game looks great I just don't understand why the windshield is so dirty? In a real rally, wrc drivers don't use the wipers at all in good weather. Would like to inform the game developers about this problem. It makes the view from the cockpit severely handicapped and makes it look even darker. Otherwise, great work and thanks to the whole VVV team.

What you're saying is that they ignore the fact that the windscreen gets splattered with bugs, on tarmac stages they can pick up dirt and muck simply off the road, let alone what they drive through when cutting corners. But here we are on gravel and dirt roads, you know what happens to the vehicle in those conditions, I'll give you a hint mate; it gets covered in dust. I would dare to go as far as to say that the game is actually going light on the dust. Some rally cars are actually set up for the co-driver to use their foot to wash and wipe the windscreen if needed.
I'm betting that the game will have an "auto wash" function, I mean it can be tricky at times to find the wipers button. Some rally cars are set up for the co-driver to use their foot to wash and wipe the windscreen
@@Bob-Jenkins First of all. In the game, the glass is not infested with insects, but with dirt.
Just look on youtube at the just finished New Zealand Rally and watch the onboard from the wrc car.
No crew will use the wipers during the shakedown and that is on a wet road for a minute and a half.
In the game alan wipes the glass every 20 seconds!! Which is absolute nonsense!!
Next, there is no automatic wiper option in the game and you have to manually start the wipers!
If the game wanted to use the wipers on dirty glass every 2 minutes I wouldn't have a problem,but to make the glass dirty every 30 seconds is really out of reality.
Before you start writing false facts check or better watch the onboard wrc videos on youtube and focus on using the wipers.
Then you will realize what you are writing.

Citroen WRC New Zealand 2010 : Ogier in good weather.
Sebastian doesn't use the wipers for the whole 21 minutes of sharp driving and it crashes at the end and stirs up a big cloud of dust on the car!
He still doesn't use the wipers and drives on without getting the windscreen dirty!
And you really think it's realistic to use the wipers on a dirty windshield every 30 seconds? When in real life they don't use them unless the windshield is really muddy or raining!

@@LuigiLusovsky-sberatel-dusi You're right, drivers generally don't use the wipers much, if at all in decent weather. The WRC games go way overboard with how dirty the windscreen gets in good weather, it's completely unrealistic, and downright annoying.

What aspects specifically? Can you point out specific segment where your perception is that the car is not handling as you would expect?

Terrible Sound as allways
Im not even a fan of the Dirt Rally titles, but i'd put money on it that Dirt Rally 3 will blow this game out of the water when it comes to physics and sound. The biggest problem with Dirt Rally 2 was the cars under steered too much on the throttle. Clearly that was a design choice to make the game more playable for casual gamers. It ends up actually making the driving more awkward though. Lots of times in Dirt Rally 2 where youre fighting under steer but you shouldn't be. Problem the development teams face is that these games have to be 'fun' for the casual gamer, so realism comes second.
@@Tony-1971 I'm not hopeful for DR3/ Codies' WRC because their latest "sim" games have been disastrous. F1 is a joke, DR2.0 is Gymkhana simulator, DR1 is pretty good but the grip is still a little weird. Sure, those games look and sound great, but they better considering the ridiculous amount of money that studio has, unlike KT Racing.
On the physics side, and as you glossed over, realism would likely make DR2.0 and even WRC feel more intuitive and easy to learn, at least in my opinion.
There's still a video around, I think on Donut Media's channel, where a DiRT 5 dev is saying how the DiRT Rally team isn't going for realism, they're going for what people perceive as realistic.
WRC's rotational inertia is still pretty high, you should be able to throw the cars around quicker, but at least the grip seems to make more sense, like how the cars are always floating over the surface at first and only start digging in as you turn. Granted the "digging in" bit has some issues the more angle you get, but sadly no game has gotten this right apparently.
I just cant get excited about this title. Hopefully Codemasters makes WRC more realistic in the physics now they have the license. I've had enough of these sim-cade rally games now to last a lifetime. Its become boring and disappointing. This game looks great, but compare the physics to modded Richard Burns Rally and its night and day. I enjoyed the last WRC game for what it was but I've had enough of the arcade rally physics now. We need an amazing rally sim. Just my opinion. Im happy that other people seem to be looking forward to the game. I just end up disappointed every time though. Clearly the cars still arent heavy enough and lack full range in the throttle. You should be able to drift the car and sustain a prolonged drift with the use of the cars weight and having reserve power in the throttle to keep the car sliding. The throttle in this game is too short. It tops out when there should be more left. This is a sim-cade rally game for the casual gamer though, so i shouldn't expect anything amazing. If i remember right Richard Burns Rally was a flop when it hit consoles. The casual gamer doesn't want simulation and realism. They want to hurtle round corners at warp speedand bounce off walls.
You are right. The problem is exactly this: the casual gamers. I doubt we are going to to see a sim like RBR. It will so amazing with this technology, but most people prefer generally the easy way - so arcade games in this case. I am bored too.
Which mods are you using?
I’ve played RBR recently without mods, and other than the tyre model the game does not feel that good honestly.
Cars feel weightless, suspension always feels too stiff and under-dampened, even with a soft setup the cars shift weight in a very inconsistent way, and the list goes on.
I can see mods improving these things but sometimes I do wonder if people think it’s a good simulation game because it’s hard to drive the cars or because it’s actually realistic.
Many associate difficulty with realism which sometimes it’s quite the opposite.
@@nismo97 RBR original (with vanilla physics) is shit and unrealistic. But with mod (NGP6) is the only sim out there.
@@classic7376 The modders have done a good job keeping RBR playable for an obsolete game, but even with the newest NGP mod, RBR isn't a sim, not by modern standards. There is no true rally sim that exists today. The closest thing to a rally sim is with some of the modded car/tarmac stages for Assetto Corsa, and that is only with some of the cars, and stages that are properly done. I know there are many people that love RBR, and will defend it to their dying breath, but that doesn't make it a true sim. The truth is that RBR is no more a true sim, than DR2 is.
@@stburr91 many real rally drivers (Gryazin for example, and Rovanperä was playing RBR! ) have said for NGP6 that it is close to reality and is the only sim. They know better.
I just want the FFB fixed man, it ruined any fun you could have in WRC 10....

Nope, 1 hour videos take much longer to make, so one video per week max. Last weeks video on another game got delayed, meanwhile other new games weren't supplied for review. Having a break from Twitch, back soon, if I can get enough subs to cover the electrical bill. Besides that, there's no team and nobody willing to help me out, so it is tough going.
The engine sound is terrible, otherwise the game can be compared to 4Y old DIRT Rally 2.0, which is good, maybe next year they'll nail the sound

not for me this year. Looks the same game. I have got dakar desert rally and it looks way better than this on my series x and has so much to do in it as well. unlocking over 180 cars? yes please.
It's not, huge improvements year on year, but best to play what you enjoy.

To be an official game, it has many errors... mainly in the 3D model of the rims that they use in almost all the cars, it doesn't correspond to reality.
Not to mention the awful engine sound, because it really sucks, and game after game they never improve on that...
For sure this one not come to my collection.

Thank you Alan for this long video. It's not against you but again great disappointment from KT racing. I could watch real WRC footage with the agressive engine sound all day but after a couple of minutes with this game , my ears can't. Always and always the same synthetic sound. For their last game, Devs could implement real sound. We could admit the bad physics (understood for arcade gamers) but the sound would be the game changer. Wrc 10 has the same bad sound, I couldn't play more than a couple of min. and this one will be the same if I buy it. I thing I will continue with Rbr until Codemasters Wrc release next year. Thank you again Alan I pushed the thumb up for you but for real I would press the thumb down for KT. Cheers ^^

Not at all, never the same, physics alter every year. There's a lot of simulation going on here, however, whether it meets your perceptions of reality are another matter.

Still looks washed out, just like the previous one, but nothing Reshade can't fix. But....i see they still haven't included the REAL wheels and tires. Been like this since WRC8. And it's the Official WRC Championship game. They should have the license to model the wheels and tires properly, but i guess cutting corners is more profitable. Physics look as bad as the previous games. Floaty and unrealistic. Sound is again, BAD. I'm so happy WRC returns home, to Codemasters. Good riddance KT.
I’m sorry but this game is utter sh*t compared to dirt. Handling, sound, ai co driver etc, it’s utter amateur stuff, WRC 2023 on ea/codemasters can’t come quick enough!
Actually the stages are far more ambitious, loads of content and the game has expanded enormously over the past 5 year. However, it clearly isn't the game for you, so I hope the future of WRC is all you hope it will be.
Codies now run by EA? I wouldn't have so much faith...
I think we can guarantee that it’ll be miles better than this current mediocrity. Dirt Rally 2 is way better

Don’t know how you can make that assessment, WRC 10 is shockingly bad, poor sounds, rc car control and no real co-driver voice.

Actually, it has moved on leaps and bounds in the last few years.
RBR is still king and looks fine with some mods, and that came out in 2004....
The graphics are terrible. It Looks like a PS2 game. I’ll pass and wait for dirt rally 3.0 next year.
Shame you can't appreciate the work done, some of the best stages on any rally game.

Codemasters/ EA take over the official WRC franchise in 2023. So there will be a new rally game , it might not be called DR 3.0 but something similar will come.
@@Super123ps It's been a long time since Dirt Rally 2.0. EA has taken over and has the potential to ruin anything. Some good developers may have left, we have no idea without a single strip of evidence. Battlefield is a prime example, all the good devs cleared out and we got... 2042, with zero direction or respect for the franchise.
We all want a super Dirt Rally 2.0 and I hope it comes, but I'm expecting some bad with the good.

Looks like the car is floating around not actually connecting to the ground. Plus the car audio is still unrealistic. Another weak WRC game to end their run of bad games.
