  • This video provides and overview and demonstration of teaching tools for young children from the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) and Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention for Young Children (TACSEI). Also, I share about my personally created "Center Tag" system. Tools can be found within my online course at Tidewater Community College, CHD 205- Guiding Behavior. Having images of children with different skin color is mandatory, but it is not multicultural... skin color is not the same thing as culture. If you are running around with this definition, that means you have no idea what ideas, ways of interacting with others, values, etc. are part of your culture, which means that you will assume your way is the only way and harm others from other cultures.

How do you suggest making lesson materials like this more multicultural?

Hi there! While skin color does not equal culture, it is most certainly a part of culture and important to illustrate to children. I did not state that skin color is the same as multiculturalism, but thank you for pointing that out!
