  • An 11 car set of R188’s were recently transferred to the Bronx for a day to conduct a series of emergency brake tests along the white plains road line. It’s pretty uncommon to see R188’s up here. Enjoy!

When CBTC 7 people say. Send that shit over to the 2,5. And the R188 says no.

What’s the difference between an r142a and r188 and why don’t they just put these on the 2/5 and 4 instead of r142s

The R188's were specifically made for the 7 line with CBTC modifications. The R142A and R188's are essentially the same minus the CBTC additions. The R142's are from Bombardier, and have some minor exterior and interior differences from the R142A's.

Miles2696 I had to look up CBTC to fully understand it. You think in the future that the all the lines will get CBTC? I should be a necessity

      A. Person The next line up for CBTC is the Queens Blvd CBTC, IRT Lexington Avenue, IND Eighth Avenue, and IND Crosstown, plus one other line (my memory is a bit fuzzy on that)

How’s that impossible to take R 188 which is the 7 train to the route on 2? There’s no way to change tracks to the route 7 to match up the 2 route Bronx but that’s very odd
