  • A conversation about conversations as a forum for social transformation.
On December 18, 2022, as a part of the ASC Speaker Series, Jude Lombardi presented on the topic “One Possible Model for Designing social Transformation”. The presentation has served as a provocation for several conversations, including conversations on the concept of conversation, which is the central focus of this event.
This presentation will include an eight-minute video (see link below), as a provocation for exploring some of the ideas we -- and hopefully you -- associate with a cybernetic conversation. Such concepts include: recursive reflections, radical change, information, communication, technology, agency, provocative perturbations, disagreement, conflict, asynchronicity, listening for understanding, circularity of needs and their necessities, peace as a need, love as a fundamental, generosity, desires, improvisation, zero-time, performance, and zero-time cybernetics.
In recent years some in cybernetics have claimed that cybernetics is enacted in conversation - that is, conversation is the acting of cybernetics in everyday life. We invite participants attending this event to consider how these ideas are related to their cybernetics and how they might be relevant in everyday interactions.
We would like to focus on “legitimate” questions - questions that do not (yet) have accepted answers. So, do you have cybernetic explanations that you find currently unsatisfactory?
Consider “undecidable” questions - questions only we can decide, questions of desire and beyond desire, the desirable.
