Hey buddies donât forget to hit that like button so we can keep the free content coming all summer long!!
It's seems that someone underestimated the rookie GM. Conny is quickly proving he isn't a pushover like the last GM. Good on ya conny
Pinder knocked this one out of the park.
This shows us a lot about his character and his priorities. I'm in the "good riddance" camp.
Were you not cheering for Tkachuk when he spurned the Flames?
@@Vayner447Tkachuk said he wanted out and let us trade him for a haul. That was a class move that speaks about his character. Gaudreau pretended he wanted to sign until the last minute then walked. Thatâs the difference. You see anybody cheering for JG?
@@stefaniverson2739 lol- demanding a trade and telling the team he isnât re-signing is a class move?
The sad part about this is that any player going through the same issues might not get the opportunity he did because teams would see how he took advantage of the situation and wonât want to get burned.
We gave him all the time and he still tried to stiff us so yeah cya dude pinderâs passion rant was needed itâs disrespectful
Sam Bennett History repeats itself
He should have been suspended from the NHL for good
The rare flames media holding this guy accountable, I am sick of the he doesnât owe them anything camp.
It feels like he's squandered a career . This will be a huge red flag for any team looking at him .
Yep, this is damaged goods, doubt he gets a premium.
Treliving will sign him.
I feel like Pinder is the only flames media personality that had the stones to call this out and it desperately need to be done
Retro was livid. He held his tongue the best he could.
Pinder and Rhett on POINT. Disgraceful show of character. I really wanted him resigned but now it's good riddance.
I wouldn't want OK anywhere near the team on a 2 way contract at the league minimum.
This is why I love you guys. You tell it like it is, and give a voice to what the fans are thinking. Keep it up!!
You can tell oliver is dead to retro đ
I think because Rhett is old school when it comes to business professionalism. Oliver is being disrespectful to the franchise who took care of him in a time of weakness
@Podcastforthewin it doesnt matter if you are "old school" they paid him 4 million for two years to be on suicide watch basicslly. Then he does that. Bye enjoy your pathetic career as a fringe player
Honestly I donât hold anything against him for not playing or even not resigning after the flames took care of him but whoever is telling him someoneâs going to shell out multiple years above a minimum salary is completely delusional
This is beyond money. I donât care what any virtue signaling person wanna say, the Flames stood by you in your lowest moment. SOME good will is due, the team is never gonna ask for it but you as a person should give it to them willingly. You would not have a career to return to had the team not supported you. Itâs such a bad look for Kylington honestly and Iâm disappointed in him.
Look at how tight-lipped the organization was all throughout, none of us fans had any inkling on what happened. We still donât know what happened. He couldâve really been suspended but he wasnât, give something back as gratitude and donât make the people who supported you ask for it.
Good job on this guys. Kylington and agent really dropped the ball on this thinking a raise was in order and/or longer term. Really bad optics on this end run. As you guys stated he should have taken a 1 year deal to prove he is a good defender. Conroy stated the door was pretty much closed, the Flames should close it period. A few spikes in it would also be good. Kylington will regret this ploy, but as a Flames fan, I say adios to this toxic back biting dude.
Also now he will get a 1 year 700,000
He won't play in the NHL again.
There may be No one willing to give him even the league minimum, to potentially not keep it together enough to play a full season !
He does not care about the Flames, despite all the Flames did for him. I feel he is greedy. If you do not want to play in Calgary. Then leave! Goodbye Kylington!
im pretty sure everyone seen what this guy "brings" to a team. he will be in a euro league if he wants to play
Or the AHL
Time to let him go . We want players that want to be here
Iâm glad this is the discourse. I felt really insensitive when this was my first thought, but itâs the truth. Honestly Iâd rather he go now, I donât want him here if this is how he treats an organisation who bent over backwards to support him.
Iâve said it before and Iâll say it again. He is suffering from post concussion syndrome. Thatâs why he was off for over a year and a half. He was never the same after getting slammed into the end boards and wobbled off the ice two years ago. Thatâs why during fitness testing he had to walk away.
He didn't want to be here, close the fucking door.
It's that simple.
Regardless of the drama, he's an offensive D man who can barley hit 30 points. Even if he wanted to come back he's a replacement level player
đđđđ
Absolutely dead on accurate impressions!!
See ya later Olly
Honestly, I feel like Kylington is an ungrateful jerk. Mental health should be taken seriously, but the Flames certainly made a huge sacrifice to allow Kylington to take the time he wanted / needed. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel that Calgary was owed a thanks in the next negotiation.
Self-awareness doesn't seem to be Kylington or JP Barry's strong suits.
For Kylington to do this must mean he has a lot of self-confidence and a high opinion of himself, which is great. It's a sign of someone who is mentally very well. Probably more so than the average person. He went from having mental health issues to having an inflated sense of self-worth. Man, sign me up that therapist.
Same like Lindholm he got less money
The Flames could not suspend him. Why do people keep saying that?
Because they're parroting everything Pinder spews. I've honestly given up on this channel after this whole Kylington affair. They admit to having zero insight into what actually happened during his time away from the club and during the contract negotiations but dedicate air time to slandering the player regardless. That tells me more about Pinder and company than it does about Kylington. This isn't journalism and barely qualifies as sound media content. I've had enough editorial from these three.
Brett has the exact correct take on this.
Dump this malcontent and bring up or in someone with integrity.
They dont have to be a superstar. Just a good reliable defenceman.
Let the goofball go somewhere else. Hecould end up in a bad irganization with a tough coach so the money means very little if that happens. He is totally expendable with no real downside. He hasnt proven anything except that he is a backstabber..
Call it like it is!! You boys run a good show!!
"I don't know what the issue was" and then Pinder pontificates for 12 minutes. Maybe wait until you find out what the issue was before throwing the player under the bus. But I'm also in the camp of letting him go and test the waters. Go Flames Go!
He always has seemed to have an ego.
Flames interviewing and scouting staff really needs to start doing a better job with prospects. This situation honestly sucks what a selfish greedy prick. Even as an Oilers fan itâs getting sickening seeing players constantly chase money to play for the Flames and when it doesnât happen it always results in a trade. Conroy is right a good dude as long as he can work on it and continue finding these kids that want to be Calgary Flames the future is bright, but I think itâs time to just kick all these cry babies to the curb
If you knew what happened you would know it was a justifiable reason to take the time he took, but whoever is telling him that heâs getting a big contract from literally any team is delusional
Sad to lose him, he showed promise, even though he's an older player. I want to understand, but unless he lets us into his thought process, he just looks bad, for the moment at least. I have a lot of sympathy for taking time for mental health, and respect for privacy as well, but a situation like this definitely comes with the understanding that you're gonna give back, not just to the "business", but to the fans and the community as well, who also strongly supported the Flames' patience and payout. I wanted to cheer for Shillie, and now I feel like I can't.
C ya
Personally I didn't feel he merited the leash they gave him. This definitely ends it. Gi get you 775 x 1
The CBA and Step 1 of the Player's Assistance Program tells you everything you need to know: Step 1 IS CONFIDENTIAL. What you're doing with this complaint is trying to break the CBA. Not only does neither side owe you information, they're not allowed to give you any.
What you're doing is adding stress to a situation that may lead the player into Step 2, the one that gets public with paid leave.
If you can't read between the lines of what he's dealing with, be it simple mental health or addiction, then chill the fuck out and wait it out. Same thing happened to Nichushkin in Colorado over a year ago: no one was allowed to say anything, yet folks kept pushing and the player ran out of time in Step 1 and didn't get to heal properly and was catapulted into Step 2, going public with his problem, without pay.
He is destroying his career. Oliver Kylington should take the offer that was on the table, if it is still there.
Once July 1st came, that offer should be gone. A new one should be in it's place at $250k/yr less. Make it a "sign it now, or lose it" deal. And every day that Kylington goes unsigned by another team, keep lowering the offer by $250k/yr until he reaches league minimum.
The issue is TERM. With his previous issues, no one will give him a tonne of term if he has any additional bouts of illness. Heâd get $2.5 x 1 year anywhere, including Calgary. He likely held out for 3+ years.
Pinder nailed this!! Never thought I'd say those words but Flames handled this with absolute class and weather it's Kylingyon or his agent who knows either way Flames showed the organization they are with they way they handled this.. It's July 4th Great job American Conroy respecting Canada country and drafting Canadian players not one that will bitch about playing in Canada!! Hey Americans who get drafted in Canada and bitch cause it's cold the game you so call love is played on ICE deal with it!! Like Buffalo and Detroit are sexy you don't see Stevie Y or all the Canadians who played in Buffalo bail oh but your own American Eichel did.. NHL Is a business now and I appreciate Conroy understanding this Go Flames Go!!
I agree with all of this 100% Kylington is no victim here they've gone above and beyond for him. Either he or his agent (or both) got greedy and thought they could exploit the Flames at their weakest moment. Let him sign elsewhere there's a good chance he could get sent down to the minors.
I bet Owner ship will not give him a long extension due to the fact they think he will pull the same crap get a long contract and sit at home so there should be a caveat that states if we give you a contract and if U stay home again you don,t get paid
Maybe Conroy isnât interested in signing him.
What is this discussion based on? Guesses? The truth is we donât know the cause of the situation. Maybe it will turn out that Oliver is the class act here.
I think the 2 years the flames have supported his mental illness is a pure mirror to the decision he made on not re signing here. And the drum beat goes on for shilly canât make a good choice in his life might be his problem. Maybe 2-3 years from now heâs not in the NHL then he just puts himself in the same position and make what ever mental illness he had even worse. Could be his own worse enemy. Not meaning to be harsh thatâs how Iâm seeing it thought.
People, hockey, is a business , its entertainment business. Player agents have to look after their clients đł $$$$$
Rhett is the man. He wouldn't have pulled that shit.
A real buzz kylington
Time to cut losses
Itâs a bad look, for sure, but I still want to know what the offer was before I go passing judgement. The same contract would have been fair, 2 x $2.5. It would be kinda terrible on the Flames part if they low-balled him to make him look greedy or ungrateful. The truth always comes out in the wash.
I'll be booing Shill-ington from now on. Even if he stays on our team... At this point I HOPE he goes and the door hits him on the ass on the way out. I'm stick of players who are not invested in the franchise, especially after we were so loyal to him and payed him for almost 2 years of doing nothing. How money hungry can you be?
He's definitely not as good as he thinks he is... sure he has potential, but he is not a rookie anymore and has never lived up to that potential. After his lack of stats and contributions to the team after all this time, he'd be lucky if any other team wants to put him on their NHL roster... he's probably going down to the AHL for a bit and will have to settle for an even lower contract then what we are offering him, once the door closes with us.
It kinda reminds me of the guy that calls in to work because he has mental health, then wants a raise. For showing up 2 days a week. In the real world he would have been fired. Clearly not the right thing and I love Kylington. You turn your back when the team or âcompanyâ has support you through this. Kick rocks bro. Weâre out here working our asses off and youâre getting millions sitting on your ass. Not right.
Why does this dude wear shades inside?
Some eye issue I think
Life long battles with pink eye
Life long battles with pink eye
Just looked at the players the agent is representing. Quite a few there. Im guessing , completely unsubstantiated by fact, that either Shill got bad advice from family or he's on meds that make him over confident and therefore not making a humble decision. This is only based on my intuition .
If I'm Conroy and Kylington circles back begging for a contract I hang up immediately. Clearly doesn't want to be here even after the team supported him immensely. Time to move on
Even if he is willing to take league minimum
Sign her therapist for 1st line center.
I really am wondering if it's just something where he wants a full break, fresh start, new place, where there isn't the memories and thoughts of what he went through.
Not a flames fan, but this development is still disappointing. It was such a feel-good story this year; his return was talked about all over the league. It's all tarnished now.
Oliver has to prove he belongs in the NHL at this point and time. He's got very little time in the league for a player his age, and he's coming off of the player assistance program. I think most of the teams know what's going on. He only came back because the gravy train was about to end. Now he wants someone to pay him sit out another couple of seasons. He's a project. You only pick him up if you have massive amounts of cap and can bury the contract. Chances are he goes back into the program and who knows if or when that could happen. What if you're fighting for your life in a playoff series, and Oliver says I can't handle it and quits to go on the program. Now you're without a dman. You can't plan a team with someone like that. He's unreliable. You can't have a worker who doesn't show up on Monday ready to work, but Oh he showed up for a few months in the spring, and now he wants a raise on his next contract. The guy and his agent are delusional. A team will take a chance on him, but they're not going to be lined up to sign a player who can't be relied on to be ready to play.
Pay the guy 5 yrs@ $4
Don't sign that Guy ! There are a lot of Young players that will be Happy to play.
100% behind your views- those overprotecting his "move" as he earned this right? Have you actually analysed what the Organisation did for him vs his right to go to FA?
So Ungrateful on his part.
I thought he was going to do this crap he seems selfish
So⊠Chucky and Benny win the cup in Florida, Jonny and Monny together in Columbus. Where will our next first rounders/top players end up?!
Have faith in conroy. Oh and itâs in bad taste to like your own comment.
@@suvio1604 the problem now is that the flames are paying now for the previous mismanagement shit show! Players around the league do talk to each other you know.
Bad reputation leads to players not wanting to play. Something is not right in the flames business policies! It will take time and smarter decision-making to turn the mess around! Or they will continue the path they are on!
5 million for 30 or so games what a joke
Pinders 200% right:âŠ.
Kylington's skating is subpar anyways. It's like a walmart version of PK Subban.
Support a guy and give every chance and he pulls this crap? Buh bye bro. Good luck in the market.
But what have you done for me lately⊠âOliverâ not good bud
Just move on from that player. There are plenty more who want his place. I would say this is a business for the strong both mentally and physically. I feel Calgary did what anyone can demand. Now let him go. Economically he is set for life. If he canât get fit to play mental illness is not different than physical illness. If you canât play you canât that how it is. If you disrespect your team like that, itâs bye bye. And I like the guy. He played for my hometown team a long time ago.
Oliver is 27, regardless of what CGY did for him over the past few years, he will not get the career capital he needs to go long with a team for the 1 yr (maybe 2yr) extension offered by the Flames during this rebuild stage. His agent is looking for a team in the hunt for Stanley + best offer to best showcase his client for a long contract, and it will come. Oliver and agent will absolutely not play "thank you" years for CGY and CGY would agree. Your welcome.
Great content but your point could have been made in 3 minutes. Why do you guys just keep repeating the same things?
Oliver obviously has mental health issues. Conny needs to sign this guy and then trade him immediately for whatever he can get.
Flames suspend him He had a case at the human rights tribunal. Like it or not Kylington is legally disabled with a mental health diagnosis
Oh then he can start collecting AISH. The NHL is not a place for disabled people sorry.
Offering a short term deal is the issue. Offering a 4 yr. deal gives a sign of confidence from Flames. Go all in and offer him a "we want you" deal. Then if need be, ask for a trade later, at least Flames get a return after standing by Kylington. Hey Oliver-the Fans want you to sign, remember the standing ovation?
Lol, and watch him have another âissueâ and exploit precedence? Nah, guy has shown he is only worth a 1 year show me contract.
@@JT-bc5cdI agree he hasnât proven to even be a top 4 defence men why would you overpay and beg for a third pairing nhl player at best by the way @kevindavidson8049 we already gave him a sign of confidence for letting him work through his mental struggles for two seasons while paying him when we didnât have to the reality is is that this is just greedy behaviour and entitlement at its finest
Nah 1 year prove it deal makes sense for the team
I agree definitely shows he character , nice signing Bean, Great job Conny the flames did nothing but help this guy out.
Why do I have this feeling that the mental illness was more of not liking D Sutter.
No coincidence the Majority of team Sweden has now moved on as well . We seem to be dumping them in favor of Russians
Shilly signed his deal on Aug2 2022, then no-showed camp 50 DAYS later by Sep23 2022, after an entire summer of his Instagram being filled with his pictures of him on a yacht with his homeboys in speedos. Fuck this guy.
Normally Iâm all for players testing free agency when they get there. Even if I donât like it, youâve earned that right.
In this case I honestly feel he owes at least a 1 or 2 year deal to the organization AND the fans for how theyâve treated him. This is bushleague after all the support and money he got through his struggles.
Realty check. He is just one of many people running away from Calgary......
Heâs a below average player at this point. No big loss.
Itâs hard to account for last minute betrayals itâs not a Calgary problem I see it more as a league problem my question is how can Canadian teams compete when players just leave to low tax or in some cases no tax nhl teams in the states no teams located in Canada have won it in 32 years itâs a problem that needs to be addressed because what happened to the flames can and most likely will happen to another Canadian franchise look at the oilers they are on the verge of what happened to the flames and if draisItl doesnât resign guess whoâs likely not to resign either mcdavid
If screws the flames- will you guys buy the jersey of the new team he is on? You do it with Tkachuk
Most flames fans are just happy Edmonton didnât win the cup if the result is that tkachuk wins the cup which he did I would rather take that option in a heartbeat

Very disappointing. Stood by him while he was not very good. Then again when he had mental issues. Get out!
Can you really blame him though? He probably doesn't want to have a miserable year on Calgary. I would go somewhere else and win
Yes I can fault him . He has a very poor character to pull this stunt on this organization after the magnificent way that they treated him.
A team needs character players not lowlifes.
What Stanley cup contender seriously wants to give a offer heâs looking for lol
Good riddence.
Do we not have the cap space to sign this guy for two years? Letâs go ffs!
Did u not fucking listen to the podcast? This u Shilly? Get ur ass to work and have better attitude.
the issue isnt money, we have plenty of money and it sounds like hes fine with the amount, the issue is terms, we want 2-3 years but he most likely wants 4-6 (conroy mentioned it in one of his recent 1 on 1 videos on flames channel) but didn't say anything concrete yet
that has nothing to do with it. We don't want people who think they're unrealistically worth more than they are.
You want guys to show up to play not sit at home and collect a paycheque.
He isn't showing up and skipping out for 6 months at a time and using mental health as a way to skip out on work and now trying to earn more when you haven't proved it
I know friends of his in the city, he wasnât just skipping out on workouts he had a very justifiable reason to sit out chill tf out
Iâd be in a mental hell state too if I had to live in Calgary.

Oliver Kylington is free do whatever he wants. Loyalty doesn't exist in this league. Just ask Stamkos and Marchessault.
They believed in him drafted him elevated him up to a fringe nhl defenseman then into a top 6 dman then signed him 2 years at 2.5 million then let him take nearly 2 seasons off without suspending his pay, if that isn't loyalty from the flames, I don't know what is. Eff off with this "mental health". You normie cuck
âThis is part of mental healthâ. He is a liability then. Stop fetishizing weakness
You obviously have no idea...he turned down the Flames offer with a COUNTER OFFER that was ridiculous considering his situation. He literally asked for more money and term and when he didn't get it said he was going to the market.
@DC-yl4vc as is his right? Mouth breather Flames get overly upset at everything.
Money is money, everyone wants the most.. Shyl have you earned it? A little barking and you get more. The question now is , is there someone out there that can contribute more for what Shil is asking.
This is a bad look peetaining to mental health and a business being understanding.
Kylington should have taken a prove it deal with the flames since they have a d core thats lacking. He could have potentially received top 4 minutes and played a full year to show hes dealt with his mental health stuff and can be a contributor, then he could have went to the market and other teams likely would have been more interested depending on how he played.
This feels like someone that knows his days in the league are probably numbered. He was probably hoping a team might give him more term at $2m for 4 years, then if he is done, he's made his money and could go overseas after getting his bag.
Well, I hope he has fun playing wherever he ends up for a fraction of the offer he had from the Flamesđ«Ą
