As a biker and fast car driver, 500 whp Evo 6, and one that doesn't hang about, my reaction to this is they both need locking up. Absolute disregard for civy road user safety is lunacy. Bikers know that even the slightest debris on the road can take you out, and at those speeds you can't even see what might be lurking in you path. That was literally a split second away from tragedy for either one of them, both of them, or worse, a third party. You wanna drive like that, get on a track and that Pork driver would have found he wasn't so good as he thinks. The R1 rider seemed to have decent skill, so maybe a track day vet, but still, on the road you cannot predict what is going to happen. I've lost biker friends in less dangerous situations, and some have survived but are wheelchair users for life, and worse. Take my advice guys, keep it safe out there, the consequences of this type of sh1t aint worth it.

Even if the two main characters DID have skill levels that would make the speeds manageable, the vast majority of the other road users in this clip don’t. The aftermath of any collision in this video would be life changing for several people.
Although the bike hung back ( relatively- we’re talking a gradation of lunacy here) his participation definitely pushed the Porchshe guy on.

I remember back in the mid 70s while riding home on a back country road just on nightfall i noticed another bike behind me catching up i gave mine a squirt of speed and he did to down through a few corners and then accelerating hard down a long straight. Well over the speed limit the other bike kept behind me all the way never trying to overtake me just staying with me all the way just enjoying the ride on reaching the outskirts of town i pulled up at the first set of traffic lights the other bike finally stopping beside me i was surprised to find a cop on a police triumph bonnaville 650 he gave me a big smile said it was a great ride but i should keep my speed down then rode off as the lights changed green but that was the early seventies how times have changed i was riding a brand new Z 900 Kawasaki. Do you know what's fascinating? This Porsche is still on the road today. The earliest MOT on record is in 2005, when it had 74k miles on it. Since then, it has only been driven 30k miles, and currently sits at 106k miles as of June 2022. For the past few years, it has been barely driven, averaging only around a hundredish miles per year. It's incredible to think about how much this car has been through, and yet it's still road-legal and well-maintained after 29 years since it was made in 1994.

One summer's evening, at the turn of the Millennium, riding from York back to Hull, I came upon a TVR Tuscan. The roads were empty. The light was good. He decided to have a little tickle and put his foot down. I was on a new 2000 R6 and decided, yeah, I'll have some of that. So off we went. He wasn't in the fastest car in the world and I wasn't on the fastest bike, but we had a good 15 minutes of highly questionable fun. It wasn't racing. I didn't try to overtake, but I sure as hell wasn't going to let him gap me. When we finally parted ways at the roundabout at the end of the universe, we drew alongside each other, grinned the biggest grins and waved our goodbyes. We had both lived a little extra that night and I will never forget it.

I was visiting a friend in hospital years ago, and this guy in his late 20's was brought to the ward. He kept to himself and was stuck in bed with ropes and counter weights after a 'bike crash several days before (been in intensive care up till then i imagine). The doctors had a quiet chat with him the next day, then left. He then spent quite a while crying afterwards. Turns out he was paralized and they had just given him the news about his future lifestyle. The ward was for serious injuries and illnesses, but until then he hadn't taken it in.
So much for being a 'hero' biker. I'm a biker of many years (owned a 'bike for over 40 years and still do) but watching this video just reminds me of the stuff i NEVER did like that in my day. That porsch driver especially needs a good smacking. Maybe he's dead by now, who knows.

I had a similar experience. I unfortunately was in a hospital bed after having been in an accident on my Ducati 998 with "White Van Man" who had given no warning and pulled out into the outside lane on a duel carriageway doing 40 mph while I approached him at around 120. Needless to say, I ran smack into the back of him. Recovering in hospital now minus the use of my right arm due to nerve damage not to mention all the other carnage my body had suffered, there was a chap in a bed opposite who was in a plaster cast waistcoat contraption. Seemingly he was also a van driver but unfortunately for him, he was T-Boned by a car driven by a joy rider who had stolen the car. He also received a visit from the surgeon with the bad news that he was permanently paralyzed from the neck down. The poor chap (young lad) cried all night long.

I don't care how good a rider or driver you might be, at those speeds one small unseen variable ( ie all the other road users ) will result in almost certain fatalities. Firstly let me say, that was completely outrageous and irresponsible on public roads. You wouldn’t last long in todays traffic someone on their phone wouldn’t see you coming and that would be that. This was 20+ years ago, things were a bit different then, the adrenaline levels must have been through the roof, great skills from both, Porsche pilot was an utter nutter, biker, one of the Sunday fast boys, great skills.
I’ve done it a couple of times and one didn’t end well, 40 years ago I crashed at 100 mph racing some bikes and a couple of cars on a public road and I took one risk to many, had to avoid an oncoming car and left the road. Spent 9 months in hospital, I’m one of the lucky ones…… Still riding, still like riding fast but no racing on public roads, it’s not worth it.

Then I had a friend who was decapitated and killed at 17 years old when his car hit a tree at 90mph….He killed a couple of 15 year old girls (he had 3 female passengers) as well in that crash.
One of them only survived, as she was thrown out of the car upon impact with the verge, that then launched the car into the tree…She lost a leg and suffered seriously life changing injuries though.
It was a farmer who saved her life, as the crash happened just down from the farmers house.
He kept the girl alive until an air ambulance arrived….The crash was bad enough to make national news and the farmers son was the first to see the occupants of the car…..I remember him saying he needed therapy after seeing what he saw.

I’m from that era of road racing. That’s exactly how it was done back then. Yes you’d get people on the horn occasionally as you flew by, but most just didn’t care. It was different back then.

I'm in my 50's, and like most who watch these clips, have done some stupid things on public roads. We used to modify Mk1 & II Ford Cortina's and Escort's, 2.0 blocks, bigger carbies, cams, cold air boxes & exhaust systems. They were quick enough and we all had accidents of varying intensity. The major difference is this. A Ford Escort 2.0 in stock form put out 70kw/140nm so our modified versions may have increased that by 20kw. The cost not only of cars, but good parts in the 1980s was very high compared to today as parts were made from high quality metals, manufactured in Japan, USA or Europe. Todays cars and parts, manufactured with cost in mind ,are cheap and a simple computer program for editing the ecu can unlock 100kw+ on a factory turbo car already rated at over 200kw. There will always be people that drive beyond their ability which is more evident today with high output budget packages everywhere. The sheer volume of traffic these days combined with varying road surface quality has made driving difficult at the best of times, especially when 4 out of 5 accidents involve the driver on their mobile device. High performance, public roads combined with easily distracted and inexperienced drivers is simply a recipe for disaster. Anybody who rides a motorcycle must assume every other road user can turn into a lethal threat in a milisecond. Braking at 60km takes 36 metres. From 80kms takes 58 meters. 20kms faster adds over 25 meters to where you come to a stop. Basically, add 20 meters for every 20km/h above 60km/h. A Stopping Distance Calculator has some very disturbing distances and forces involved and I strongly advise everyone to have a complete understanding of these. Enjoy your cars and bikes, be safe and always remember, a licence is a privilege, not a right.
