Great video. I use the X8 as an audio interface for my PC and a preamp into my cameras. I would rate it as the best investment I have made for video creation

Does the 32bit float work when using it as a desktop audio interface? Also how is the pre amp noise?

I think as long as your recoding software is 32 bit capable you are good to go

@@raymunn OK thanks. I have a rode nt1 5th gen so I know at least obs/open broadcast software can record 32bit float and davinci resolve can edit it properly. I am absolutely in love with 32bit float!

I am looking into using the tascam x8 as a desktop audio interface. Does the 32bit float recording work when using it as a desktop audio interface? I like that the tascam x8 has so many use cases. I can set it up for podcasts, recording sounds out in nature, commentary or voice acting, so many options! But I need it to work with the 32bit float when using it as an audio interface via my windows 10 computer. I tend to talk quieter as I am always tired but sometimes I get excited and I need the 32bit float so I can edit the highs and lows and even them out for videos.

I would record internally to the tascam so you can edit the audio in post from the 32bit float file. Treat it like a backup track.

I purchased the X8 a few months ago. I loved the touch screen and recording features. Unfortunately, 3 days after purchasing, it crapped out on me. The memory card slot just stop working. Ending up replacing with a Zoom recorder 🤷‍♂️

WHOA!!! That is crazy! I would like to say that probably is a one off, but that would leave a bad taste in my mouth too if I were you. I haven't had any trouble for the last year and half with mine. ZOOM is excellent too. Which one did you end up getting?

It probably was overkill for the application I wanted to use it for. I have a Mixpre 6 but wanted a smaller unit for back up recording. I just picked up a Zoom H1n. It’s simple, fast, cheap and gets the job done lol
