I’ve worked in advertising since 1998 and I concluded a long time ago that all content is a commercial. Even when a product isn’t being pitched, people are still selling their ideas and their own brand. Viewers have to decide who to trust, and watch reviews from multiple sources. For example…I picked up the R7 only after watching videos from you, Josh Satin, and some wildlife guy from down under. When I feel my FOMO is getting out of control, I only watch videos on the gear I already own so I can learn how to use it better. I’m also glad when CZcamsrs get free stuff, affiliate links, and ad revenue. I bet it still falls short of compensating you for all the time you put in to making great content.
I appreciate your trust. Josh Satin is solid in his perspective so I’m honored to be in that camp. I also can relate to rekindling my love to gear I own by watching others with it.
I really dont watch tech reviews, or reviews about any thing really. I watch jarod poilion, and the lens that you were talking about. As i feel their reviews are more info based then this is why i like it. As for long term reviews. That should be in everything. I use to watxh make up reviews at one point. Yea i have learned in my life what works for me, ad what dosnt. If i only used it once thats kinda hard to judge something. I also got a r50 last fall. If i would have reviewed it then. It would have been negative. Now after having it for a year, and finally shooting more with it. I can say i only really hate two things. The RF mount, and the over heating.
Well said Jared ! it takes courage to speak up about some of the boloney going in product reviews I like Christopher Frost. He is mainly a lens reviewer. He is a straight up guy and will give you the straight skinny on what he reviews !
That’s right. He is mainly lens review. His tests are very factual and consistent which makes it easy to follow the logic from one lens review to the next.
I'd like some of what you're having sir 😂😂😂. In the beginning I used to follow, listen and believe the reviews, then I started seeing the bias and unfair reviews. You start seeing how they say the are unbias but they dont treat the companies the same. For example, they review a Sony camera and make excuses or justify how its a good move by Sony, but when it came to Canon... Canon can't get anything right. I use Canon products cause i prefer it, and I dont see what they are saying thats that bad about it. It's almost like they are being compensated somehow by someone, which is sad. I had used a Sony camera and my hand hurt for hours, there i said it😅. I know all cameras have their positives and negatives. I stopped whatching and following a few channels because of that. If i watch and make comments of a channel it's because i appreciate honesty. Thank you for making this video.
Basically I check my filter at the record button and film ;) I appreciate hearing your experience with reviews. I think it’s worth it if we can be more upfront with our biases in the beginning of a review then consumers can take that in consideration when hearing the reviewers opinion and experience with it. We also need to realize people change their minds on products over time too. Personally I love canons operating system, menu and even h265. Runs like butter on an apple M2 Max in Davinci resolve.
@@JaredHoyman That's another example, people are saying Canon's h265 is terrible but I really don't have any problems with it. I'm using a PC build with AMD Ryzen processor and my clog3 4k clips are very smooth, no need for proxies, plus my 4k 10mins renders are done in less 30 secs, using DaVinci of course. People blow things out of proportion when it comes to Canon, it's ridiculous.
Ok, that was funny! lol What I find fascinating is that people don't already know this. People being biased about products in reviews should fall in the common sense category. I always read what the tech companies write about their products, listen to reviews, and test products myself. If you are lazy and count on others to find your perfect product, you will be disappointed every time.
Totally agree. That’s why I love 30 day return policies with most stores.

Insta 360 X3 is amazing! I would not compare it to my Sony cameras but definitely superior action camera, even to GoPro's 360 one.
As an action 360 it’s decent and really their isn’t much to compare it to, but as someone who would stitch panoramas to create 360 images into yours that are super high resolution with amazing dynamic range it can’t compare. For what it offers it allows anyone to enter the 360 world without any editing and stitching experience. I will add this….i own the insta360 flow and I do find that clever and handy when I need to set up my iPhone on face tracking quickly. I appreciate the comment.
