I am Filipino living in the States and ALAMAT has caught my attention because it reminds me of my culture because they truthfully incorporate it in their music as well as what they wear. Each of them have gifted voices and the lyrics are so profound. I only wish they include English subtitles in all their songs. ( to attract an international audience)
Next to SB 19 in popularity. ALAMAT is a much younger group and could be more gutsy and experimental in their dance choreography.
Aswang is a mythical entity in Philippine folklore. It sucks blood from babies that are still in the mother’s womb. Mananangal of SB19 is also a mythical entity in Philippine folklore!

Thank you Hurraira for supporting the Alamat OT6. The Aswang choreo is very satisfying isn’t it?They have a live performance with Thyro Alfaro called Litrato which is ballad-y. The latest one which you probably haven’t seen yet is Day and Night which has a very summer bop and island beat to it.
That song with thyro was fire… 🔥
I love all of the different genres that Alamat does, and all of them done well-not one mediocre or bad song in the bunch! I do wish they would do another ballad because Sa Panaginip Na Lang was so beautiful to me-I would cry listening to it, especially the Midnight version. And their vocals to Say You Love Me on the Wish Bus so impressed me, especially Mo’s adlibs. Even though Mo and Tomas are my biases, I think I’m slowly becoming OT6🤎
This and Gayuma are my fave Alamat songs! Although the new one Day & Night is also up there. ☺Idk why my other comments keep getting eaten but there's a historian who's made YT videos on the cultural and historical refs in their MVs. Well worth checking out if you're interested in that sort of thing. Aside from Day & Night, there's one more I think you've not seen yet - ABKD.
Btw, the clothes they wear at the start are full of agimat, or amulets - all the writing and symbols on the fabric, the medallions, the necklaces, etc. Soldiers used to wear them to protect themselves in battles. And at the end, they're wearing modern barong tagalogs, which are a traditional, formal dress shirt. SB19 wore them in the Round Fest performance too.

Love that you remarked that you don't want to feel like there's a weakest link but these boys are sooooo self awarw, they know their individual weaknesses and strengths. I think them being that self aware and actually vocal about it (in vlogs) makes it fun to be in the journey of improvement with them. Alas knows he needs to improve sustaining his falsetto voice but gets excited when it's the rap part, he knows he is in his environment.

Have you heard ILY ILY yet? It's not really a ballad but it's not really uptempo either. I don' think they have any more actual ballads, they haven't released that many songs yet.

Alamat is my second fave ppop group after sb19. I believe they have a lot of potential to make it big. I like majority of their songs. Alamat took me by surprise though. It was kinda risque yet it is actually not 😂.

Aswang is another mythical creature in the Philippines, just like SB19's Mana (Manananggal). Aswangs are shape shifters. They change form to lure their prey.
Alamat are second to SB19 in the Philippines (even if they are still a far second by numbers) for good reason. They have potential to become something similar yet with a distinct own flavor. A decidedly more "native" flavor with their name Alamat (meaning legend or myth) and the choice of themes with some relation to culture and folklore like the Maharani and the singkil folk dance, the aswang as the shape-shifting ghoul of Filipino ghost stories, gayuma as a magical love potion, the Magindara which appears in their most recent MV "Day and Night" (don't know if you have reacted to that yet but it is truly great) which isn't just a mermaid but a mythical diwata (that word is from Sanskrit devata) of the sea, part of regional folklore of Bikol and the Visayas.. yes one more "native" thing about them is that they use regional languages more, not only Tagalog - the Philippines does have more than a hundred languages and around twenty major ones.. Day and Night has them singing in English, Tagalog and Visayan.. great to see all these reactions gonna check out your Kasmala reaction now.
