I certainly hope that CotC'll stick around for years to come, but considering that Final Fantasy Opera Omnia just recently announced its end of service, it does bring about some concerns about the game's future with it being under the same Square Enix banner and all.
Why would that be concerning? Opera Omnia shut down after 6-7 years. CotC has only been around about a year and some. That doesn’t mean CotC is gonna shut down anytime soon.
@@eddiealva9751 Opera Omnia was killed by horrible financial and design decisions. Record Keeper was older than that and Brave exvius is still going (although I'm pretty sure it's the next one on the chopping block) so the longevity has little to do with the death of it. Hell first soldier didn't even last a year. Longevity with money, the game stays alive. No money, no matter how old the game is, it's dead. So far OCtotC is performing ok (nothing amazing but decently enough although I'm sure SE would call this underperformance because they're greedy). But the player base can only shrink from here since octopath is mostly a niche franchise. It's not FF7. The only reason why it's performing ok is that they are incredibly cheap at giving you rubies so they have dedicated whales. But this game only appeal to a certain type of whale. Those who both pay AND grind. Usually whales pay to avoid the grind which despite not being as bad as let's say, a year ago, is still atrociously slow and once those whales will jump ship (because let's face it SE is only getting worse at how they monetize their games) the game is dead. And when I say it's performing decently btw, I mean in JP because the brazen attitude they had with the Bravely Default collab completely killed the hype the game had on the global version and while it did swing back up since, it never fully recovered. So, if the revenues in JP go down the same way they did in DFFOO.. they'll shut it down unceremoniously, story incomplete or half assed ending. I personally gave up on everything squarenix mobile a long time ago because you never know when they will pull the plug on games you spent money and time on and they have refused to make offline version despite the demands. The only one that I would confidently say is safe from what I can tell of their financial expectations/earning reports is Ever Crisis which performs above beyond everything else they have. So yes, it is concerning because we're talking about SE. A company that made legendarily bad decisions in the past decade with no signs of stopping. And a company that's horrible at managing mobile games in general because what they want is their own genshin or honkai revenu wise and it's not happening because they suck ass.
Fair warning. When SE catches up the global version with the JP version on their mobile games....its not a good sign. Usually that means the game is on the clock and its ticking.
My only grudge for this game is: can we just have more variations of skill animation? A lot of skills reuse the amination and are very very similar to each other.
Someone I know explained games like this the best and I've never forgotten it; when you play a game like this, you're playing for the experience, even if you pay, you're paying for the experience. Experiences don't last forever, so you should just enjoy it while it lasts, and if it one day disappears, at least you were apart of it.
The games decent enough. I agree with you about the two different types of currencies, that's kind of sus. I've been getting error 104000, it's the error that prevents you from farming caits and elite fragments for the exchange. No idea how to fix it and their Twitter is no help.
the thing i hate the most is the random stats on weapons.thats why i stopped grinding it and just do daily stuff and story.and they keep adding impossible hard contect and new boards that you have to spend hours grinding.not to mention no more step banners,only shitty f2p or amazing p2w.no thanks

Appreciate the background music...unpopular opinion but my favorite final fantasy title...
