As someone who's getting into VR (had a long test run, using a friend's Quest 2)
I wanted a Dekard but it's hard to plan around a Valve release since they are so tight lipped :(
if deckard costs more than 1k, I will hesitate, but under 1k, I would possibly instabuy
What about 999?
With all taxes & shipping included plus 1 or 2 launch games as well .
Make sure you have enough for a RTX 4090 too
Who said valve or Apple would actually release this year? We have no confirmation from either! Apple’s headset has been 2 months away for 5 years, and we have NO idea when deckard will release lol
No no, *you* have no confirmation from either.
Apple's worldwide developers conference is in June. This is when they release new versions of their various OSes. The new one this year is supposed to be called xr OS. This OS will run on their reality line of products. The host of this channel said they would be shipping product June, he doesn't know what he's talking about. First step is introduce the OS and get developers onboard. The product is likely to come out after October and prior to end of the year. Expecting Apple to pre-announce things will never happen. The host events like the one in June and introduce the OS or actual product. When the product is finally ready to ship they will hold another event about 3 weeks prior to customers receiving the headsets. Usually they hold a early sales event online and sell tons of product.
Bigscreen Beyond and Pimax Crystal should also be mentioned, maybe a PICO 5 (and will most probably have better specs than the Quest 3, considering that the Quest 3 has not a higher resolution than the PICO 4, maybe a 2x2.5k resolution and eye tracking => in this case it would blow away the Quest 3....) will also be released at the end of 2023....
The Pimax Crystal has my attention right now for upcoming VR headsets. But the Valve headset looks nice.
Hand Down Valve Deckard. The Valve Index is by far my best headset all these years later
I WANT THE DECKARD but I don't think its coming out this year :/
Great video. I’m completely confused about the Apple HMD’s use case but I assume Apple is going to bring the Wow factor so this device is a total wild card.
I’m excited about the Q3 but I’m unclear if the XR2 chipset will make it a better PCVR device, as compared to the Quest Pro.
The Deckard device will no doubt be mind blowing but I’m worried I won’t have any money left by the time it releases.
This is truly the golden age of VR!
I agree about the quest pro/ 3 PCVR can't see any improvement based on the specs. Hopefully this is a good year for VR
I bought an M1 laptop so I could play Marathon. It will be the same thing here - most games will be old ports , few & far between AA or AAA games , the only saving grace would be for retro game or console emulation probably .
Really dude pcvr are you serious omfg 🤦🤦
I reckon that Steam around the announcements or launch of the Quest 3 will just drop a bomb on this and do it like they just subtly announced the Steam Deck lol
I want it once it comes out, I love my index, can’t wait to try the new one soon.
So when is the Deckard due to be released? 🙂
The Deckard 100%
Same
What about the quest 3 :
@@mitchellvolcano probably going to be cheaper and slightly worse. The valve index cost more than the quest 2 and is alot better. index+deckard=made by valve
Oh thanks
I have been wanting to move away from the Quest 2 and get a better headset. Hopefully something comes up relatively soon that does eye, face and finger tracking along side full body. I have been waiting patiently
Pico 4 Pro has face & eye tracking, its been just released at a lower price than Quest Pro.
@@Nobody-Nowhere yea but where do I get it
Its not even close, if Valve announced the Deckard today I would pre-order without hesitating.
I expect I will pick up the Quest 3 to enable the ability to keep playing my Rift and Quest library - but I am very focused on PCVR.
Isn't project galea supposed to release this year?
I'm looking forward to the Quest 3.
The only reason I own a 4080 is for VR, with foveated rendering games like MSFS and ACC could be played at much better frame rates with higher fidelity in the focus area, with much lower processing power. For me its got to be the Deckard.
ill wait for valve headset, not rushed el cheapo quest 3
I’m not exactly looking to upgrade my index, but when another headset comes out that keeps good audio, more FOV, better resolution and comfort, I’ll get it. It’s probably the deckard.
Any headset basically beats Index currently, thats an ancient device with 2MP poo poo resolution.
Apart from Marketing, Software, and the topic 'Release', no words about the Pimax Crystal.
There is a stand alone vr headset that's out right now, and I've heard surprisingly little about it
Been waiting for Valve to do a major rework since the OG Vive. God, it's almost been 10 years. Still holds up which is why I never bothered with Index 1. Not big enough of an upgrade like Deckard will have. Also VR on the go powered by a Steam Deck. That is entirely possible.
I wanted the index controllers but the constant RMA issues put me off. I hope Deckard has a newer and more reliable set of controllers this time.
Pimax Crystal comes with finger tracked controllers.
I now use a quest pro that I use for PCVR, and it is incredible. The apple VR is the only significant upgrade here from that, but given the ecosystem and the no steamvr support, I can't see myself switching to that. My only hope is that it does well and pushes companies like Meta to release a device that is comparable to it (I would love a quest pro 2 with the apple vr panels )🤤
@@william7576 well, no. the quest pro fits my needs better, is not all about resolution, you know. And also the quest pro with the pancake lenses do a good job at PCVR.
Sounds like you havent tried any of the two..🤪
The quest Pro is a very good headset, resolution and FOV are the only things I want to see improved in the near term
Felt bad that HP are no longer in the VR market, their HP reverb G2 is amazing and I use it for simracing and plane Sims. Was hoping for a G3 launch, but I do not think that is possible for now 😔
I agree
reverbe g2 is trash .... 20% of the lenses are clear the rest is all blur ... tracking is shit !!
how the hell peoples think is a good vr headset just for the clarity at the center ??
@@andreanrik you have to measure ur ipd or just eyeball it and find the best ipd for you and it should be sharp and check your room for tracking issues it might be because you have a light shining in the cameras or its just really dark so try those before you say its trash
The deckard's gonna be pricey but worth it, not unlike the Index, I think.
I thought Deckard was a reference to Rick Deckard from Blade Runner
Does anyone know if the headset quest 3 will have a stronger battery because I heard it’s not that long of battery life but just hear say tho
They said the same about the quest Pro 1-2 hours but I get 3.. easily
@ 00.38 seconds what is this song?!!! I hear it in coding podcasts all the time and have never been able to find out what song
I'm not entirely sure, I didn't save it, but you'll find it within the epidemic sounds library
Guess if apple can turn thier iPhone products into a a VR dmmo console with the deep dive head gear equipment that be super cool an evolutionary ect lol
Can't wait for deckard
It would be dope if they release it this year, valve that is. IDC about apple. My Pico 4 just needs eye tracking and it will be amazing.
Most excited for the Valve headset since I just found out it's wireless I am also looking forward to the Quest 3 though. I had a quest pro and I didn't like using its air gestures at all, so that Crapple headset is definitely a no-go for me!
The Index was my first VR headset. I've had several others since then, but I'm most excited for the Index 2. Apple is interesting, but the buy in price would be a tough one for most people. I believe their audience wouldn't be large enough to attract developers, plus I hate many of Apple's policies. Maybe if they make it work well with PCVR, but I doubt that happening. I feel pretty let down with the Quest Pro and don't know that I would trust Meta again after the over-hyped marketing.
I had a Quest Pro and I hated it. I couldn't get a good sight picture and when I got it good enough it was only SLIGHTLY better than my Quest2. It was also super uncomfortable. I'm not excited that it appears they are bringing the same crap headstrap setup from the quest 2 to the 3 either.
I will take my time bevor buying one of them. And decide probably after some reviews. So I get something nice for my money. The price can be high if the product is worth it. It depends… don’t follow the hype and buy the product at first day. Meanwhile I will continue enjoy my quest 2
Definitely the best way to go about it 😊
The apple device will drive competition, which is no bad thing, I may even get one if I can pair it with my macbook. But if it requires an iPhone (like Apple Home) does then they can go swivel, I'm not going to be suckered into their closed iDevice ecosystem *that* way. Deckard is the most exciting, especially if it also supports lighthouse tracking so it can be used with tundra trackers and the existing - already brilliant - knuckles controllers
I agree, a closed VR ecosystem is not something anyone wants
Valve decard hands down for my most anticipated vr headset. At this rate we will get this headset when we get Half-life 3 🫠
I really wanted the vive pro 2 but I know whatever valve is working on will blow the industry out of the water so I've been waiting.
I'm still waiting for an affordable PCVR only headset without all that standalone bloatware. Until that comes I would stick to the Quest2 (or a Pico 4 if it dies)
A Valve for me.
I need to retire my Oculus Rift CV1
😂
Would be a massive upgrade for sure 🤣
i think Deckard is a reference to Blade Runner.
I just hope they announce deckard befor i have to pay for my crystal preorder
Deckard if the price time does not go past $1000. And comes with. 512gb of storage or 2 TB for $200 more
Deckard 😮
Varjo Aero 2
I'll just buy Quest 3 while waiting Deckard, simple.
i might be alone on this but face tracking and eye tracking are so not important for VR gaming lol...not to mention the only dev that would actually utilize those features are most likely valve since they are basically the only ones who seem to utilize anything to its full potential. glad the Q3 isnt focusing on either of those things.
Assuming valve releases anything this year.
Apple will probably set the new standard in form factor and quality (and I will enjoy using it). Soon more companies will follow adapting the good things from the headset to their own priorities and target audience. It will be good for all us, being a successful product or not (economically speaking) for Apple. Anyway, Apple has said that this device it's not meant to be a mass adoption one, but the first product in order to build an ecosystem and gain experience. Their ultimate goal (like everyone else) is to make a really wearable AR device but they recognized the technology to do it properly (at least for Apple standards) is not there yet.
Hopefully apple can bring more interest to the overall VR market
Ya after going $10.000 in debt
Already committed to buying it before you even see what it's capable of its kind of a cringe take.
@@gunsmoke132 Why? I just expect that it will be good for me based in my experience with all others Apple products. I like how they are made, how they work and how they look. My family and friends are using this ecosystem and we are more than satisfied. I think it is very reasonable to guess the I will like it’ll the device too. Of course, it is possible that it doesn’t fulfill my expectations but I don’t see any difference in saying what I said or saying I will buy the Quest 3 based on my Quest 2 experience. I just was talking about Apple impact in the industry when they enter
@@richie_01 it's your money i guess....
Quest 3 for me easy . Already own over 200 games in oculus system .
Damn no honorable mention even to the PSVR2 ...... 😢 that's where you'll find me bumming it up with the other 300,000 in one month VR low life's 😅
My bad 🤣 I was trying to focus on the unreleased 🤣
@Virtual Chap oh... that makes sense. Thumbnail is a little misleading then. Maybe still to come vr of 2023. But all good, just some people seem to real hate on the psvr2.
Well, I will not spend 3k on a HMD so scratch Apple off the list. I’m not going to wait around for valve time (I seriously doubt we will see anything this year) so scratch the index 2 off the list. I guess that leaves quest 3
Oh well
Apple is a non-start at this point because if it does release this year, it is not a consumer model and the lack of an eco-system to use it in makes it DOA for me. The Value Decark sounds interesting but it really is more rumor than reality. So, that leaves me with Q3, I am a little doubtful of the $400 price, and planning more in the $500 + range, but that being said, I am looking forward to the upgrade, I am already having a great experience with wireless pcvr on the Q2 and imagine that will only get better with Q3, (which is also supposed to be wifi 6 ready). Also, with the increase of graphics and processing power, it means that ports from pc will have a lot less downgrade.
I also have a pretty big Quest library of games, so it would require something new to be so far ahead that it would be worth changing over. Picos look good but the improvement is not enough to warrant rebuying all my games and apps.
Deckard has patents and such actually so it's very much reality and valve has stated over and over they're concepting new headsets. The question likely isn't if, but when.
@@JoysGameRoom I wasn't trying to imply that the Deckard will never come out, but knowing what the final specs and price will be is kind of hard at this point. I agree that Valve will have something out eventually.
@@davidshoemaker4437, the pricing will likely be fairer than the Index given the lack of light house sensors, those were the most expensive parts of the Index. Hopefully it won't be too bad, I plan to replace my Quest 2 with this when it comes out.
There's a reason the code name is Eureka don't hold out on meta trust me
Quest 3 will be another cellphone processor battery powered strap-on uncomfortable,I’ll stick whit psvr2 since it’s better than pc!! GT7-s&s ch2-village-horizon are thé goat !!
🎉❤❤❤
Apple level specs, do you mean walled garden hardware that is but 1/10th of the of the hardware costs of the total price compared to those of competitors and is built for obsolescence and non-repairability? Hmmmmm no thanks, I'll still with whatever anyone else comes out with, ideally a server-less option
Knowing Apple and how they were treating their longtime customers, refusals to take care of hardware issues, ridiculous new products like iPhone 14, pricing which is a joke, not to mention their pricay policy, I doubt I will spend any more money on any Apple product anymore.
valve
Apple level specs? So watered down, locked down, propriety everything copies of what other manufacturers have already came to with along with a PR campaign creating new names for existing technologies with Apple declaring they invented it.
The deckard we're to come out tomorrow I would buy it. If it's any bit like the original index but wireless with better visuals, it'll be a no brainer. Facebook can pound sand and crapple make overpriced garbage for smooth brained fanboys. Plus they're not going to be geard for gaming
Dude you confused the hell outa me when you started calling it the “quest” instead of the “quest 3” then talking about “quest pro” and “quest 2”. Not easy to follow at all.
My bad 🤣
@@VirtualChap2024 Granted I smoked a spliff about 20minutes before I found your video so it’s probably just me…but my mind instantly fell off a bottomless cliff once it attempted to process the different “quests” stats.
@@Famedawg 🤣🤣
No.They spent too much time doing Steamdecks.
apple VR is not coming in 2023.
Deckard is a big fake, cause all patents and new vr technology are make by meta. They spend billions in vr technology
apple isnt even in the competition lol. their headset is so bad in terms of price, availability, apps, games
NO VR in 2023
Your mic is pretty bad
In what sense? Always trying to improve my settings, so appreciate any feedback
@@VirtualChap2024 I meant voice clarity, Thanks, sound a bit muzzled
