  • Windrowing chicken litter is a big part of our between the flocks routine. It is a job I dread because it is usually hot and very dusty. For the first time ever we were able to do this in a cab tractor. The guys from Antonio Carraro came to the farm and let us try out the TGF 8900 100 horse power low profile cab tractor.

    Worth mentioning that the guy in the video is Max Carraro. His father is Antonio Carraro. I think it’s freaking awesome that he actually gets out and meets customers.

      Yeah it is. I wish we could have been working in they hay field also when they came. It would be cool to try out with a cutter or rake.

    Low profile tractor that can fit inside a chicken house. Skid steer alternative it seems.

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 22 dny

      Pretty much. Just able to do more things like decaking and pulverizing also.

    I've got an older TGF 9400, I bought it cheap but had to fix some stuff on it but now that it is right, It would be really hard for me to go back to open cab in chicken house. I've only crusted with it. My windrower is 3pt not sure how it would do with the turning and leveling rows bein it is lower ground clearance. I'm going to try windrowing when my next flock leaves. I installed a simple backup camera to the under side of the back of the cab to help with the visibility out the low back window.

      Thanks for sharing. That's a great idea with the camera! Let me know how the windrowing goes.

    How did your flock do after clean out? Considering doing one my self

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 21 dnem

      I had one house that still had high mortality. They were 26 week old hen flocks. Ended up with a minus 10 so not too bad. Supposedly the second flock after a clean out is when you start seeing good results so we’ll see. I definitely don’t think it hurt anything.

    @joelchurch2499 Před 22 dny +2

    Wow that would be nice to run a decaker with a cab tractor. Can you reach the unloading handle on the front of the decaker through the back window of the tractor?
    Do they make other horse power options besides 100?

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 22 dny

      I am going to reach out to Lewis Brothers but supposedly you can swap your controls over to electric and control everything from inside the cab.
      I believe they offer them in 70, 75 and 100 horse

      @@FarmerHunt oh I gotcha. That’s definitely the way to go ,providing it’s affordable.

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 22 dny

      @@joelchurch2499 yeah I agree. I think these tractors range from 65-85 depending on the horsepower and what all options you get on it. They are working on quoting us one now.

    What is the purpose or benefit of windrowing with the specialty equipment verses just using a skid loader and pushing everything to the center and ends?

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 22 dny +1

      Efficiency and also if you don't get the litter in a good windrow the litter won't heat up as good and then it just turns out to be a waste of time.

  • @PredeksOfficial
    @PredeksOfficial Před 22 dny +1

    Have you guys tried windrowing with a skid steer? Can it handle that much power?

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 22 dny

      Eric's dad windrows with a skid steer. I never have tried it out though. We don't have an enclosed cab skid steer. Supposedly this tractor is able to run a 15' bushhog. We didn't get to try that out though.

      We now solar farms and have switched to an Antonio Carraro fleet. The models without the cab fit under the panels with 12 and 15’ bat wings. Absolutely love those tractors.

    • @FarmerHunt
      @FarmerHunt  Před 21 dnem

      They have an option for a front lift (not really a loader) but I don’t know all the details on it. I think you can run a few implements on the front maybe. Reach out to Tim Mooney and he can answer any questions you have. I’ll be glad to get you in touch with him.
