I tend to find that MOST women don't tell guys when their girl is going behind their backs UNLESS she wants to get with that guy. It's seen as an opportunity to end that relationship so that they can get a shot at him themselves. Usually if there aren't any romantic feelings involved between the mutual female friend and the guy of interest than they keep that kind of information pretty tight lipped.
