    Great video really helped with my fix, just want to add for other people who might need to do this, for my pathfinder, cruise control and radio controls all go through one single plug, even though he mentions that it requires two. Perhaps on other models, but I looked everywhere and tried cross checking service manuals and everything I could find was a single plug spring for my r51. Ordered a cheap one on eBay so I wouldn’t be out a lot of money if not, and it worked. I was more worried about the blinking airbag light anyway haha.

    This video helped me out a great deal. My horn stopped working recently, however the airbag light had been flashing ever since I've owned my 2011 Frontier. I bought it used. I have not replaced the clock spring yet but just out of curiosity I went through the reset procedure to see if anything would happen. Lo and behold after going through the reset my horn now works again! Don't know if it's just temporary but I'll let it go for as long as it goes.

    Aron thanks again for another great video how to! Everything went smoothly, including the resetting of the air bag ight! However I did not pull a pull a code, even though the horn was inoperative and the air bag indicator was blinking. I purchased my OEM clock spring from my Nissan parts supplier directly, it did not come with the arms for the lights and wipers. They are removed very easily from the old clock spring, then install on the new clock spring, just a couple of "retaining" clips on each. I would highly suggest that one have the appropriative steering wheel puller on hand before one pulls everything apart, my wheel was stubborn and would not budge and I hated to "beat" on it. I was glad I had one in tool box. One may or may not need this. It is a rather specific puller however. Again thank you!!

    I bought a 2011 ($7300.00)Armada this weekend. I didn't have the truck 10 minutes. I went to back it out of my driveway for the first time and all of a sudden I had no steering. I got the truck back in the driveway and found that the steering column came disconnected from the rack. After I reconnected the steering column to the rack I noticed that the airbag light was on and none of the radio controls worked anymore. After watching your video I realize that I damaged the clock spring when I spun the steering wheel beyond the limits of the clock spring. Can you tell me where you bought your clock spring assembly and how much did it cost?

    Does this particular vehicle not use a steering angle sensor (SAS) or have one mounted somewhere else? On our 2011 Rogue and other vehicles I have seen, there is a black plastic steering angle sensor mounted to the back of the clock spring that is removable.
    I didn't notice it in either the new or old one you had here, but I couldn't see the bottom that easily. I have read that you must recalibrate this when replacing the clock spring mechanism or you could have a traction control or anti-lock brake system light come on.

    • @leexgx
      @leexgx Před 11 měsíci +1

      on this video the angle sensor is missing on the old unit or not installed on this model of car (but interestingly the 3rd plug for the angle sensor is there so maybe somebody's replaced it before and forgot to transfer the angle sensor (or maybe this model of car doesn't have stability control program)
      As long as the new clock spring goes back on same as old one (don't spin new or old one, new one should come pre fitted with a locking plastic to prevent spin) and Transfer the angle sensor from old clock spring to new one again try not to move it (the new clockspring I got didn't come with the angle sensor, it's only held on by 3 screws + 1 for the plug so easy to transfer)
      All I had to do was clear the airbag code so it retested the airbag for open circuit (as the spring for the airbag snapped disabling the airbag system) the angle sensor didn't need recalibrating because it was the same one

      Guys it is entirely possible to change out just the clock spring without the two levers. In fact they are usually sold that way even from the Nissan dealer.
      If you look up South Main Auto Repair you will see a video from 4 months ago he did on a 2012 Nissan Rogue clock spring. He shows doing it and using the stems/levers that are already on the car.

Have you seen any evidence or do you know if Nissan pre-wired any of the required harness connections on vehicles that didn't originally come with the heated wheel option? The rest seems fine but i think the clock spring is bad also. When i tap the dash. Above the guages the wipers come on would that be the clock spring issue ?

I’ve changed everything the wiper switch , wiper motor , checked alll fuses and relays … right now the wiper motor works off a tahgo switch I hooked up… very annoying … i don’t think the clock spring is allowing the signal from the wiper switch to reach the motor ? Aaron with the help of your video I replace the clock spring. Unfortunately the SLIP & VCS are still on but the airbag light went out doing the manual reset. Is there a way to manually reset the SLIP & VDC lights?
    One other thing the airbag light started to flash again but I just manually reset it again.. all the steering wheel controls work fine along with the horn. So I don't know why the airbag light started to flash again? Any thoughts ??

      Did you find a solution to this?

    • @lawrencemarobella6377
      @lawrencemarobella6377 Před rokem

      @@meganwitt5390 Hi Megan, it seems the only way to reset the SLIP&VDC is with a with a professional diagnostic tool. I brought my Armada to the Nissan dealership and had them do it. Make sure when you have it done that they take it for a test drive after they do it. Because , they told me that it had been successfully reset as soon as I drove out of the dealership the light came back on, I immediately turned around and drove right back to the dealership and told them. The service manager said that I would have to leave it because he said there must be something else going on and they would have to diagnose the problem. After some arguing he had the tech reset it again and this time it stayed off. The reset wasn't done properly the first time and the tech never took it out for a test ride and just assumed it was done properly. They would have charged me for a second diagnostic and reset. Just be aware. So the answer is there is no way to manually reset the SLIP/VDC light.

    • @TortureBot
      @TortureBot Před rokem

      I have heard there is a sensor behind the clock spring called a steering angle sensor (SAS).
      If it is not recalibrated when you replace the clock spring there's a chance the traction control and anti-lock brake system light will come on.
      The only way I've seen people recalibrate it is using a special scan tool that has the option to start a recalibration and then you drive about 10 MPH straight ahead, and it will do an automatic recalibration. I have not seen a way to do it manually.
      I have seen people replace the clock spring in these videos on CZcams and not even do that recalibration, and they seem to have no problem.
      Also, in this video I did not even see him show a steering angle sensor, and it looked like it didn't have one on the back of the clock spring. I don't know exactly which vehicle he was doing, but I know a Nissan Rogue has one, and it's black and is mounted inside the white plastic behind the clock spring and is removable.

    • @lawrencemarobella6377
      @lawrencemarobella6377 Před rokem +1

    • @lawrencemarobella6377

      The SAS is connected to the clock spring with three screws. In this case it's black and it has some red stickers on it with a wire coming off it

    • @TortureBot
      @TortureBot Před rokem

      If the other things are not acting up, they probably will start doing so in the future because the conductors for the stereo controls are cracked and not making connection and that's just signs of wear and the other ones will follow suit.
