Palworld is a parodying pokemon. And yes, they're "stealing" designs and mishmashing different pokemon together. But people seem to forget.... THATS THE POINT. Ever since the first trailer. It's teased as a survival open world game that parodies pokemon in the most ridiculous way. Pals are SUPPOSED TO look like pokemon rip offs. That's the point of the absurdity.
I wouldn't even say most are rip offs. Some are just saying it's a rip off because pink and ribbens, or because spiky wolf body because lycanroc has it or that one is a rip off of leafeon because leaf ears and cute face. While also ignoring the fact that Pokémon did the same with one of the slime monsters from dragon quest...
Those players harass the devs of this while turning a blind eye to the multitude of mobile RPG Pokémon knockoff game apps, usually made by Chinese game app companies. (Aside from Pokémon Masters which is actually released by Nintendo)
When are people going to learn that all this faux outrage just pumps up sales. Now that I've heard their side of the argument I want to buy it even more. Hell I'll probably buy two.
Twitter "fans" and game "journalists" pretending to care about pointless things in media has done little but put those pieces of media on the map further, so yeah homie you are 100% right. In fact, making twitter angry wins more respect then it loses for companies. Wish more companies realized that cause twitter really just corrupts everything it touches.
No matter how many likes or retweets something has gotta remember thats only reflective of the mindset of those who use twitter. The larger, better half of the populace is more concerned about whether the media is enjoyable or not.
Let's face it. They did a lot better than Scarlet/Violet. If Nintendo could just launch a Game Console or at least on PC they could make it more quality and better. Pokemon game was falling down due of that release. Palworld basicly its Ark with Cute monster. They dont evolved so far and there is Slavering on Humanity where I dont see that going on Pokemon...
Uhh Palworld is also coming to the Switch as well as PlayStation consoles soon. I’m getting it on the Switch to take a break from the Pokémon franchise.
The Switch is not the problem, the Switch mainline Pokemon games are all so dated they could run a GameCube. The Switch is not as powerful as Sony and Microsfot new consolles, but it is still powerful enough to perfectly run big amazing games with good graphics and animations and without glitches and lag and it has been capable of this ever since its launch year.
Not only that but it's a lot of elemental animal designs. Yes the fire horse and ice penguin are going to look like the other fire horse and ice penguin.
There's design overlap, and then there's literally creating something that is identical in shape, size, and mostly in appearance. The Meowth face was pretty egregious. As was the Cinderace character model and mesh (same exact dimensions and even the same animations). That ancient Donphan looking thing is also pretty egregious. Remember that 10-50 inexperienced devs somehow drew up 100+ character designs, created them in Blender, along with the meshes, coded them to uniquely interact with the Palworld map, all within six years, while working on a different game at the same time. How is this possible? You may ask... It isn't. They would have had to cut the development time somehow. Turns out that using pre-existing content and making slight changes is a great way of doing this. There are some original designs (roughly 10% of the Pals are unique), but the rest are fusions or straight up reskins of existing Pokémon.
@@Aelda69And it's perfectly fine. You know why it's perfectly fine? Because Nintendo didn't do shit and said absolutely nothing, and that saying something. We all know how protective Nintendo of their IPs, always trigger happy to shoot a lawsuit at anyone who infringes on their property. Given the fact how popular the game has become there is no way Nintendo did not see it. The fact that they didn't file a lawsuit within 24 hours tells me that Nintendo does not care about Palworld because to them it does not infringe on their Pokémon IP. So in the end, does anyone, truly, actually care if the cartoonish monster designs are similar or overlap with Pokémon? The game is good and tons of fun, Nintendo's silence indicates their 'okay' and ultimately only vocal angry pokefanboy minority who are seriously crossing the line with death threats remain unsatisfied.
I will say this. If Pokémon’s most recent products were good and on the level of polish as Generation 5, then people will not have this level of vitriol towards Palworld. It sounds to me that people are taking the frustrations they have for modern Pokémon and sending it to Palworld. It also has to do with Twitter crazies but I feel that this is a major factor in all of this.
@@hunt7533 Yeah. It was when Gamefreak had the formula down for it's 2D platform. Although it's roster was not as popular as other gens, Gen 5 had the best endgame out of all the Pokemon games, especially in Black and White 2. When Gamefreak switch to 3D is when the games really started to suffer. I feel that they should have continued making 2D games while pulling in the people who did the Stadium and Collesium games to help with development of big console games for the Wii and Wii U, as they slowly integrated the dev teams to the new model. Or they should have increased the development time of the new 3D games until they got a good engine/workflow running.
Or those unofficial Pokémon mobile apps that directly rip models and/or pixel sprites from Pokémon. I bet they play said apps on their phone being fooled by the model usage.
I was writing a comment about the designs, but then I realized how sad it is that people are trying to defend Nintendo, the company that is most well known for its copyright enforcement of games I can’t even buy anymore without selling a kidney if I wanted a physical copy. There was also an individual who got hit with a 2.1 million dollar lawsuit from Nintendo for hosting said games that you can’t buy anymore. Or the times that they’ve struck down free fan games to protect their IP. Or when they created guidelines that would shut down Smash Bros Tournaments. If Nintendo had an issue and grounds for a lawsuit, they would no doubt have already been going after them or are working on it. These people on Twitter do not need to defend Nintendo like it’s a small indie company.
The fact twitter is mad about Palworld means its likely going to get even more popular because it should be obvious by now pissing twitter off wins the respect of many for a Dev. Few people in actuality care if its a pokemon rip off. But the mindset "If twitter hates it, it must be good" is a very real phenomena since twitter has a well-deserved reputation of hating fun. Edit: After reading through some comments I now know this is referred to as the Streisand Effect. Thank you for teaching me something new.
Someone posted a Dragon Quest versus Pokémon comparison online and since DQ started ten years prior to Pokémon it does appear that Game Freak may have taken some inspiration from Dragon Quest (which is a huge franchise in Japan). I am playing Palworld now and it’s a lot of fun. Rather than just fighting for you your Pals can build and farm as well. I have seen videos where players have set up assembly lines and automated farming/mining. It’s quite addictive.
Ill like to say that the brazilian comunity is loving Palworld simply for the amount of dirty jokes we can make with the little critters (Pal sounds like "pau" which is a common slang for "dick")
This is where the true focus should be. Someone should go into every foreign Palworld streamer and spread this knowledge. For ages we told them to come to brazil. Its time we take brazil to them.

yeah, and the only thing they have in common is the color scheme, but guess who also has that color scheme (and ironically has more in common with that Pal): SYLVEON, so that must mean that Sylveon is a Flaafy rip-off, right?
Even if they are similar, they are not the same. Also why give death threats? They're doing more for the pokemon community than pokemon choose to do themselves
Bro, I remember when wooloo was first revealed in Pokemon, people were saying "it's just a sheep, where's the originality" Same people are comparing it to Lamball and trying to call it a rip off as if wooloo was this super fresh idea that wasn't just actually a sheep 😂 Look, some pals actually do look like knock offs, but a lot of comparisons are reaching and clearly show people don't actually know what copyright infringement actually is. They think they do, but they don't.
Sadly, I worry this drama is just going to give Pokemon fans a bad rep, and make it "acceptable" to hate/attack them too... And because people mistakenly think Nintendo makes Pokemon that reputation might spill over to Nintendo fans too, so you'll probably get attacked for just liking Zelda or something too, because of this drama... Even though I see many Pokemon fans condemning the trolls attacking the Palworld game, it's fans, and devs. So I hope people can see it's not all Pokemon fans. Don't forget the anti-A.I. activists are also attacking the game too, for using AI generated content, so it's not just "Pokemon fans." And yeah, as pointed out in the video, oftentimes when people online claim they get "death threats/hate," sometimes it's just harmless critique. So it's possible it's not all just mindless hate.
I've played since gen-1 and Twitter's Pokemon anti-fans don't represent me. It's all been downhill since gen-6. Technically gen-5, but Black 2 was still good.
Pirate software had a really great take on this you shown off The monsters from Dragon quest, which came out 10 years earlier than the first 151 Pokémon and a lot of them have some striking similarities between each other
At the very most I'm pretty sure Palworld uses iterative generation and procedural generation, guys that's been a CORE in video game design for years, Minecraft was using both iterative generation and procedural generation back all the way in the 2011 release and they FOR SURE DID NOT INVENT IT!
I countered it with overgrinding past-gen Mons out of spite. First gym at level 35. Spikemuth gym onwards saw me use level 100s. Also I rage-released Eternatus first chance I got. Twitter and I are not the same.
The worst thing is all these comments trying to invalidate people who have genuine criticisms of the design plagiarism as if they are the ones sending the death threats. Just cause something is popular doesn’t mean it’s immune to criticism.
What's crazy is a lot of the Palworld monsters people complain about were made 2+ years ago. I kind of doubt the AI allegations at this point because of the time between then and now. Pokemon was accused for the same shit back in the day for stealing Akira Toriyama's original art... A lot of these "creatures" are similar because they have a basis in mythology or fantasy books. Now, my opinion on the matter... Nothing NEEDS to be absolutely original otherwise it has a chance to fall into valley of "uncanny". There will always be real world similarities to make for a decent design (not all the time obviously, most cases will be this way; it is a lot of work to come up with an original design that works well for its purpose such as Ridley Scott's "Alien" - hell, even the typical alien people use to represent aliens is somewhat human-esq - grey with oval eyes, etc...). As for the Meowth, Yellow eyes and sharp teeth is a somewhat common trope actually especially in big cats (lions and more). The second most common animal eye color IS yellow/gold, first is brown. Just know that they probably looked at a real animal before a Pokemon for inspiration... Making these connections are not hard.
Now sadly many more artists are probably going to be sent death threats if they make a wolf that is spiky and cartoony or if they add ribbens to a pink bipedal monster because silveon has bows and is pink.
Nintendo's putting more effort into this totally organic hate campaign against their competition than they've put into the last decade of Pokemon games.
Some of this reminds me of the old "Digimon copied Pokemon" shit for years ago, then the lesser one against Monster Rancher (IIRC). It was entirely based on the idea that Pokemon owned the literal entire monster training / battling genre. I wouldn't be surprised if elements of the Palworld monsters are similar to Pokemon, but consider that there are 1025 pokemon (based on a quick search online). Someone with literal no knowledge of pokemon being asked to create an elemental themed animal will probably get close to at least 1 pokemon design by accident. Then the people going "the pose of X is similar to Y" when it's the literal pose a real animal that has that body shape takes when standing on it's hide legs...
Nope smt and dragon quest existed long before Pokemon. Pokemon themselves have also said that they were inspired by dragon quest and you can easily find some pokemon that look eerily a lot like dragon quest monsters. You also need to take into consideration the lore and mythology behind all the creatures In these games which they are all based off of
At this point, if we wanna know if a game is really good, its the one thats being cancelled. Better to just pay these Twitter people no mind other than a rating system. If they hate something, we should play it.
Firstly, if you've got death threats online you've made it. Secondly, let's stop pretending people who spend too much time on the internet are fans. Especially these people making up these allegations about all sorts.
Welcome to the internet Have a look around Anything that brain of yours can think of can be found We've got mountains of content Some better, some worse If none of it's of interest to you, you'd be the first Oh has little changes… But yet everything gotten worse
People who wanted more variety in the monster capture genre:🗿 People who wanted a Pokemon Survival game:🗿 Literally anyone not sending death threats just because it's popular:🗿 The people sending death threats:🤡
Most comparisons are BS, they look similar because they are based on real animals, you can't copyright animals. Most comparisons had a similar build but different details, because the general idea is based on a real animal. If anyone tries to make fantasy animals chances are it'll look like some Pokémon because of how many there are.
This. The problem with the Pokemon games these days is they have no competition, so they don't need to innovate or even try. Competition is good. It breeds innovation.
10 bucks these people doing it aren't even fans and just people that wanted to be horrible anyway on twatter. On the otherhand though if they do like pokemon then they are hyperfanboys. Which is even worse somehow. Copémon fanboys need to accept the fact most Pokémon fans wanted fangames more than... the actual series anyway.
Ah it's funny for all the 'proof of death threats or it didn't happen' that I see here, suddenly it's all just 'OH YOU POOR BABY' when it involves this game
I spoke to some people like that. That one Pal with the 4 glowing red triangles on it's back? Some people say it's a blatant Latios copy. Some say Salamence. And some even claimed it's a carbon copy of Lunala, Eternatus or Mega Rayquaza. Those 5 look NOTHING alike. If those Pals are allegedly rip-offs, or whatever word you want to use, how come people so much appart in their claim of what was copied? Seriously... Pokemon has over 1000 Monsters, so finding similarities is a given. Even among those 1000 ones. Like some similarities between multiple Pokemon and Dragon Quest Monster designs. But people are definitely reaching on this one. Trying to force those Pokemon comparisons is not healthy for the gaming industry. It just scares devs away from developing new monster catching/battle franchises.

There is no better marketing than Twitter hating on something - if they praise a product you instantly know to avoid it
No matter how many likes or retweets something has gotta remember thats only reflective of the mindset of those who use twitter. The larger, better half of the populace is more concerned about whether the media is enjoyable or not.
Death threats are a potential honorary badge for game devs these days.
I’m getting it on the Switch to take a break from the Pokémon franchise.
with how Zelda has been going, Nintendo's switch console is not enough of an excuse for the Pokemon team's poor performance in game creation
@Unknown_User174 where does it say Palworld is even coming to switch?
The Switch is not the problem, the Switch mainline Pokemon games are all so dated they could run a GameCube. The Switch is not as powerful as Sony and Microsfot new consolles, but it is still powerful enough to perfectly run big amazing games with good graphics and animations and without glitches and lag and it has been capable of this ever since its launch year.
@@Unknown_User174 lmfao Pokémon sweating beads right now.
People acting like there aren't OVER 1,000 Pokemon, designs are gonna overlap smh
There's probably at least one Digimon that resembles a Pokemon...
Not only that but it's a lot of elemental animal designs.
Yes the fire horse and ice penguin are going to look like the other fire horse and ice penguin.
The people who make chairs should sue for Pokémon stealing furniture designs for their little shits....ffs
Dude Gen 5 went so hard man, Pokémon at peak. Creep to me as being the best Gen of the series, it was really good.

I am playing Palworld now and it’s a lot of fun. Rather than just fighting for you your Pals can build and farm as well. I have seen videos where players have set up assembly lines and automated farming/mining. It’s quite addictive.

Don't forget the anti-A.I. activists are also attacking the game too, for using AI generated content, so it's not just "Pokemon fans."
And yeah, as pointed out in the video, oftentimes when people online claim they get "death threats/hate," sometimes it's just harmless critique. So it's possible it's not all just mindless hate.

Pirate software had a really great take on this you shown off The monsters from Dragon quest, which came out 10 years earlier than the first 151 Pokémon and a lot of them have some striking similarities between each other
At the very most I'm pretty sure Palworld uses iterative generation and procedural generation, guys that's been a CORE in video game design for years,
Minecraft was using both iterative generation and procedural generation back all the way in the 2011 release and they FOR SURE DID NOT INVENT IT!
Best part of Palworld is that it isn't trapped on aging Nintendo hardware. 2nd best thing is that Game Freak isn't the dev. XD

I can't believe a parody looks like the thing it's parodying.
Or all these comments of people not understanding the definition of the word plagiarism.
Making these connections are not hard.
palworlds Beta runs better than The newer pokemon games
Not a high bar to be fair. Remember what these newer games were designed for.
Now sadly many more artists are probably going to be sent death threats if they make a wolf that is spiky and cartoony or if they add ribbens to a pink bipedal monster because silveon has bows and is pink.
They cry out in pain as you choose to have fun without them
Nintendo's putting more effort into this totally organic hate campaign against their competition than they've put into the last decade of Pokemon games.

Palworld isn't similar to Pokémon at all. You can't capture and utilize humans in Pokémon.
Most comparisons are BS, they look similar because they are based on real animals, you can't copyright animals.
