    Steve&Gavin - Great job guys! You nailed it. I tested quite a few boards & trucks but since I got my soulboardiy - it pretty much rendered Steve‘s deck selector worthless:-) sorry mate! I am approx Gavin‘s size (173cm/67kg) and have their brand new Meda Carbonyx which is the somewhat smaller, lighter and improved version of the Adam. It has all the great properties of the Adam in a more sexy shape. I set it up with a Carver CX for more radical riding. Works phenomenally well. Eva & Dragomir deserve a lot more attention! Thanks guys for bringing them to my attention it saved me 9000 bucks…:-)

    I met Draho a couple of years ago at a sports fair, where I was helping a friend who had a booth there. My friend sells Slide Surfskates and Draho was looking for trucks to attach them to his handmade decks. We had a long conversation and he was burning for his idea of the perfect Surfskate deck. I really like him and his passion. We went into business with him and he bought the Slide Surfskate trucks from us.

    Thank you soooo much for your video! 2021 I got myself a Yow Aritz Aranburu and I must admit I just bought it for the looks of it. It was great to start learning and I really like the Yow Meraki system but I had the same issues as you described in your video - for pumping my front foot doesn't stay in place (because the board is like a fish - plus totally flat) plus tail is small and all that hinders my progress in transition. I recently bought a Yow Christenson Skalle 2022 and the board form and concave look a lot like this Soulboardiy and I felt like FINALLY my feet stay in place and they understand how a board should be shaped. I'll keep the Soulbourdiy in mind, I am based in Europe - the flex is interesting to me.

    Just received a MEDA REvolution with 3 WB (17,18,19), i can say it's very well crafted, the deep concave seems well done. I'll use it with Slide V3 trucks and 4President wheels. I guess 18 WB should be a good match, maybe 19 to increase stability in pump track. Riding soon. Thanks Steve to made me discovered Soulboardiy !
    EDIT 19 mai 2022 : I've just tested 19 WB in pumptrack, with Slide truck tightened, i must say it's a good option for me, more safe stance, stable and steel turny. Even on flat, when i loosen the truck, i won't feel the necessity to go back to 18 WB, it turns enough. It's really so good to have different WB options on such a good deck. As i'm used to longsup surf and longboard, i feel better on this kind of WB (at least 18). I prefer the Seismic Defcon Plum 65mm vs the 4President for pumptrack and flat turns, very agile but grippy.

  • @dalhuset
    @dalhuset Před 2 lety +3

    IMO, Carver concave decks with CX trucks and shorter wheelbase are more suited to aggressive pavement style surfskating while Yow meraki trucks & decks with flatter surface mimic riding a real surfboard. I’ve never ridden a concave surfboard; convex yes. A flatter surfskate deck forces me to use my upper body for turns more than my feet which mimics surfing. So as a surf trainer a flatter deck seems more appropriate. For pure aggressive pavement surfskating, A Carver with CX trucks, more concave and a shorter wheelbase takes advantage of things only pavement has to offer.

    Soulboardiy x YOW Meraki is the best surfskate set up, end of.

  • @jkingonthetube
    @jkingonthetube Před 10 měsíci

    The Soulboardiy clearly is designed with function as the primary goal. They prioritized ride feel and performance over appearance. If you look at most surf-skates on the market, their decks follow common surf board shapes. A pulled in tail is great for locking into a wave and helping with turns... but rather useless on land. The shapes are based on a marketing image rather than practicality. If you want to see where else that Soulboardiy deck shape is used, check out pow surfer snowboards. They are designed to function. And a lot of their tails broaden at the back.

    If your foot is moving on many other decks, you should try some coarse griptape.
    Some companies like Jessup and Mob have Tapes that are slightly grippier than the standard (about 60 grit).
    Really grippy Coarse Downhill Griptapes (

    • @Shaesi.
      @Shaesi. Před 3 lety +1

      The issue with the foot moving around is not the griptape, it's the lack of concave. The clear griptape on the Soulboardiy is probably not the grippiest, but the concave of the deck is enough to lock his feet in for pumping.

    • @raphael.heckmeck
      @raphael.heckmeck Před 3 lety +1

      @@Shaesi. right, the grip on the board depends on more factors than the tape itself, like the concave, the shoe sole, other gear like footstops, your technique and actually the weather. But you could compensate for a lacking concave by using a more coarse griptape which is why i suggested trying it. I have done this on one of my boards with a really flat concave as well.
