  • In this video you'll discover the nootropic benefits of L-Tyrosine. Including why we use L-Tyrosine as a nootropic, how it's used to support ADD or ADHD with or without stimulant meds, the difference between L-Tyrosine and N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research.
    L-Tyrosine is the master precursor required to form all catecholamine neurotransmitters including dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine (adrenaline).
    Sleep deprivation and extreme stressors like heat and cold can deplete catecholamine levels. L-Tyrosine restores them to preserve optimal cognition.
    L-Tyrosine can be an effective treatment for ADHD symptoms. It works in synergy with ADHD meds by boosting extracellular levels of dopamine. Helping these drugs be more effective. And helping to prevent side effects like crashes when the drug wears off.
    L-Tyrosine also contributes to the production of thyroid hormones T4 and T3.
    Many neurohackers report a lift in mood, better focus, concentration, increased energy, and an overall sense of well-being.
    L-Tyrosine can help readjust your motivation levels. It can help lower anxiety levels, especially social anxiety.

    Hello from Australia mate!
    I have been watching your vids off and on for years, and I have to add another comment as everyone else, that you are amazing and have given out such amazing source of knowledge. Thank you for that.
    If I have missed it please excuse me, but would you ever do a video explaining some of your reasons to getting into this and how your ADD affected you in the past compare to now etc. I know you do talk about it, but I think because such a beautiful person that you are a sole video on the back bone of your story could also help alot of people understand more!
    I lived in Japan for a few years from 16 and beloved I had adapted in a way, but since entering my late 20s and early 30s I have found my distraction levels go through the chart.
    The reason I say this is also because I took nootropics in university but since learning from your videos and knowing you had add, it has made me look at my stack a bit differently!
    Thanks for your hard work mate, keep it up!

      If all you were doing was increasing dopamine you were likely suppressing serotonin levels. Which is not good.
      Using 5-HTP will restore serotonin. But if all you do is increase serotonin you will depress dopamine. Serotonin and dopamine must be in balance.

    If you have withdrawals from these supplements, how long do they last? What are they from? Dopamine crash? How long does it take for the body to build up a tolerance? I’m concerned that there is a quasi addictive scenario here, even though I’ve really only gone through a single bottle so far and haven’t yet had any ill effects. I’m researching more about this supplement now that I’m looking to refill.

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +12

      Jeffrey, if you follow dosage recommendations you should not have a problem. The standard adult dose for L-Tyrosine for example is 500 mg twice per day. It has a short half life so the Tyrosine you take at 8 AM is literally gone from your system by noon. There is nothing left unless you take it again.
      I have never in all the years I've been doing this heard someone going through withdrawal from using 500 mg L-Tyrosine. For a very few they may need half that dose. But for most 'ordinary' folk 500 mg works.

      Angie, L-Tyrosine will make dopamine within 30 - 45 minutes after taking the supplement. As long as you have adequate levels of Vitamin B6, B9 & B12 because they are required cofactors in the synthesis of dopamine.

    I suffer from PMDD. I do not want to take any SSRI medications. I came across an article about using L tryptophan to increase serotonin. Would I need to take L tyrosine as well ? I’m afraid of dopamine suppression while using L tryptophan. Also, is L Tryptophan better than 5 HTP? Does L tryptophan and L tyrosine interact with evening primrose oil or any vitamins like K2 D3 and multivitamins and minerals?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +2

      Chynna, L-Tryptophan is far safer to use than 5-HTP because it is easier to figure out the right dose and you can use it long-term.
      You must keep dopamine and serotonin in balance. But that balance depends on how much you increase serotonin.
      Once you find that L-Tryptophan is no longer working for you that is how you'll know you need to start using L-Tyrosine to increase dopamine.

      Harris, I suggest just working out the dose. I use more Tyrosine than you but it is what my brain demands. Keep in mind that Tyrosine has a half-life of 2.5 - 3 hours. So whatever you take at 8 am is gone by noon. Sipping it during the day will not likely work very well.
      The caffeine in coffee forces your brain to release more dopamine. So supplemental Tyrosine will support caffeine use.

      Why do you want to further increase serotonin? Sounds like you may be able to balance things out by supplementing with Tyrosine. That should get serotonin back into balance with dopamine.

    If L Tyrosine increases the production of melanin, what consequences,( if any) would it have on an individual with a genetic predisposition to skin cancer/ melanoma?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It doesn't have any influence on skin cancer or melanoma. If you did not have melanin your skin would be white as a ghost.

    Another interesting one is butyrate, not sure if you have a video on this

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +6

      Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid that is involved is producing ATP in mitochondria for energy. I do not think there is enough research specifically on how it contributes to human brain health and cognition. If there is enough I will do a review on it.

      Butyrate, good stuff, It's a substantial precursor to fixing the intestinal microbiome. A nesessary component to fixing intestinal permability (leaky gut) and achieve bioavailabiliy. Because, (leaky gut - leaky brain). No one needs to have all those lipopolysaccharids and free radicals floating around their bloodstream or getting through the tight junctions in the blood brain barrier, causing neuro-inflammation, or anywhere else for that matter. So, to fix this problem, gotta have a adequate supply of (Butyrate) in the large intestine. (Butyrate), by it's self, as a nootropic, I don't believe so, but it is complementary. I couldn't figure out how to spell (senergenic) for the last word in my post so I guess it's complementary.

      @@NootropicsExpert much appreciated. the connection brain and gut seems to be essential. and the absortion of it seems to be the issue but apparentl the micro(sth) capsules do the trick. looking into probiotics as well (prebiotics) . would be interesting to know more about the gut and the brain. I would like to give you my congrats as your channel is fantastic and i really appreciate all the info you share, helped change mylife, God bless you

      And prebiotics trump probiotics in my opinion. Because with probiotics there is no way to tell which good bacteria need support. But Prebiotics are just food for your microbiome. You let the built in intelligence of your gut figure out which beneficial bacteria to increase. Helps suppress the bad bacteria too.

    Hi David,
    Do you think a messed up brain chemistry can be balanced? VMA is low and HVA/ VMA is high.
    I am treating VMA with SAMe.
    I also bought BDNF

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +3

      You can't "buy" BDNF but you can increase BDNF with nootropic supplements. See my video here on how to increase BDNF: czcams.com/video/htMpJQSpcC8/video.html
      Yes, you can balance brain chemistry. You do it using precursors for each one until you figure out which one is low. They keep on supplementing with that precursor. See my video on anxiety which explains on how to experiment with each one: czcams.com/video/Qu4zVAmscK0/video.html

    Have you considered making a video on Rubidium Chloride? Apparently, it has proved to be very effective against certain kinds of depression.
    I will definitely get some as soon as I can afford it. I believe my depression is dopamine-related, and I suspect that's the case for most people with depression. I wasn't at all surprised to hear that the serotonin-deficiency model has come into question because it doesn't make sense anyway, and I've heard the same thing years ago. I only wonder why it's made the news now - I imagine they're revving up to market something else that's equally ineffective.
    I know there are alternatives out there such as welbutrin, but I'm in the UK where the GPs seen to be particularly unimaginative, so I've no chance of getting anything which might actually be effective on prescription.
    Anyway, sorry for the whine - I know the grass is always greener. It just rubs it in when people casually talk about asking your doctor about these exotic things - it's the only thing I dislike about videos to do with nootropics, longevity etc 😄

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +9

      Eman, Rubidium chloride is not easily available as a supplement.
      But if you think your depression is dopamine related why not try L-Tyrosine first to increase dopamine? And see if it works?

    I gave l thyrosine to my son and he started acting weird abd angry.
    It turned out he has excess dopamine because the enzyme that convert dopamine to norepinephrine is not working properly. Any idea how to fix this?

    • @NootropicsExpert
      @NootropicsExpert  Před rokem +4

      First, do NOT give him L-Tyrosine or any supplement that boosts dopamine. There is no natural method of restoring that enzyme that I'm aware of.
