  • In this video I show a disassembly of the Nikon Z9 camera for a full spectrum modification,
    allowing for astrophotography, infrared and ultraviolet photography.
    The video provides a general guide on how to remove the camera's components and filters,
    followed by the installation of a clear glass filter.
    The modification allows the camera to capture wider range of light,
    including invisible wavelengths, making it a popular choice for scientific and creative photography.

    This technician was outstanding. His level of detail and dexterity was amazing. Sure gives me a new respect for the engineers that designed the layout for the Z9. I do however hope mine never needs service.

      Thank you. The engineers of the Nikon Z series did a really good job. I very much enjoy taking those cameras apart for service.

    Must be brave enough to tear a $6K camera apart. Thanks for sharing! 👍👍

    I have a full spectrum converted Z9 and it's an absolute powerhouse. Been using it for weddings, school, boudoir, nature, and fun!

      That's cool! What kind of filter do you use for 'normal' photography?

    Thanks for video. If I’ll show you the picture of z9 body, can you determine it was opened or not ?

    • @my-pixels
      @my-pixels  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You are welcome! It's hard to tell if the body has been disassembled by just looking at it. But there is a way. There is a couple of copper foil warranty stickers under the bottom plate. You can see them here czcams.com/video/awIAdpoAOOQ/video.htmlfeature=shared&t=51
      These two stickers come nice and flat from factory. If they are wrinkled, this means they have been removed previously to remove the two screws underneath. So all you need to do is to remove the bottom plate and take a look at the foil stickers.

      @@my-pixels thank you very much for your response! I carefully watched your video, and understood which copper foil you mean. I’m really sad now, because just orders on eBay like new camera with scratches on all 6 bottom screws. I don’t know reasons why the camera was disassembled, for lens release issue or another, but all rubbers looks like new and overall too, and shutter count 3k only. So it can opened for several reason which I don’t know. Thank you very much. I need wait for delivery and after that if will see scratches on the screws front of my eyes I’ll initiate dispute because it’s refurbished, not used/like new. Thank you very much again!

      And one more interesting moment. If the camera serviced by Nikon USA(I don’t know), they are change(usually) these copper foils or not? Good question.

      @@namsomirak8972 I think if the camera is still under warranty, they should replace the foil stickers with the new ones. That would make sense.

    sir I want to astro ( Ha and Oiii) modify my Z5 diy, would please tell me the size of filter in mm....

    • @my-pixels
      @my-pixels  Před 8 měsíci

      I wouldn't recommend to modify the Z5. This model has an internal IR LED that contaminates long exposure images in modified cameras. Also, it has two filters, not one.
