Very interesting!! I've been toying with the idea of dipping my toe into the IR conversion river myself. I was thinking of getting a Canon R or RP camera that Kolari often has available....I have a lot of EF glass which is easily adapted to the R body. I don't trust myself to have the skill or patience to convert myself.
I'm anxious to see your continued reviews with the other filters, etc....
    Thank you!!

Where did you get the multi-holder for the kolari clip-in filters?
The clip-in filters destroy sharpness on the ultrawides, on the edges. With a regular full spectrum conversion, screw-in filters are the preferred method. For clip-in filters, the naked conversion is considered to give the best optical result.

The holder came with the filters. I did notice some sharpness dropoff and the new sensor filter is a lot thicker, it does reduce sharpness a bit but I don't really care for a fun gimmick camera. Its not like I'm using this for night video for planet earth III.

Cool mod. I have considered doing this on my old m43 kit, but the ability to use the Kolari internal filter system makes this easier to live with. How would you compare the pre/post color using the standard ir cut filter? any noticeable differences?

With a green colored hot mirror its very close to stock colour. Nikons white balance is so good it can handle it. A normal ir/uv cut is clear and it screws with the color.

@@SprocketHoles Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes on my Z7 if I decide to dive in.

What did you do about the diagnostic LED that shines every time you take a picture? For me this results in a purple blob on the right side of my photos when I'm shooting in low light high ISO. I wonder if there's a way to physically disable this LED and what the consequences of it would be. I know that shooting in silent mode is a way around it, but then you end up with banding when you take pics under LED light.

I didn't know about this at all. According to kolari vision it only affects long exposures at high iso and can be avoided in silent shutter mode kolarivision.com/product/infrared-conversion-nikon-z6-infrared-converted-mirrorless-camera/

@@SprocketHoles that’s a little bit of a lie. I see it prominently when I shoot full spectrum at 1/80 and iso 12800. Basically I can’t use the camera at all in low light conditions. Pretty disappointing.

The best effect is on wooden buildings. But without any paint on the wood.
