    the International Labour Organization has 659 results for slave market and Africa. they have evolved to include other methods of human trafficking than classic markets, yet markets exist. if we are willing to have a civil war over slavery: why did the war to end slavery end at our borders? why is there no contemporary active pursuit with the military to end slavery?

    • @greatkentuckian9032
      @greatkentuckian9032 Před 3 lety

      Because the US and other nations are not going to spend time doing so. If the US and other European nations had a "war on slavery", it would cost trillions to end global slave markets. On top of the funding, manpower is required, where if those same nations sent soldiers to fight, foreign enemies would take a chance by invading their neighbors. Everything is too constraint and sense it doesn't harm us, it does not matter. It's for those nation's to deal with. If slavery is fine for them, it will remain. But I know you're not the kind of person to willing to go die for your ideals. Just sitting behind a screen acting as if everything you believe is great.

    • @stephenjenkins7971
      @stephenjenkins7971 Před 3 lety

      Not only would it be too expensive, it would be impossible to actually stop. It's one thing to shoot down every major shipping of slaves like back in the day when only a few countries had the capacity to even make ships that could travel oceans. Another thing to go into countries and force an end to slavery. Not only that, but countries would need to stay there indefinitely to make sure it didn't come back.
      It's a war with no end, literally.

    • @MatildaAndFriends
      @MatildaAndFriends Před 3 lety

      @@Lufernaal ...first, your "by that logic" is silly as hell. Second...this is part of my point - "should be" is not the world, and I'm looking at this (police) from a larger stance from racial issues (which I see as an exacerbation of the normative issues in policing, not the issue itself) so seeing police being sentenced for conduct like this is, indeed, a celebration. Look outside the courthouse, that's a celebration. Like, why can't we be happy this happened and still be able to want more? This is a huge deal if we can keep doing it, put cameras on all cops outside, get outside prosecutors and outside investigators, etc. The world is totally insane, winning against entrenched power structures through online movements and protests is a big damn deal. Getting police into court and winning is a big damn deal. Shrug. I think we just have a failure to communicate that, frankly, is too hard to fix typing on my phone.

    It means one person who killed another person in circumstances that at least warrant a verdict of manslaughter was found guilty of murder. Other cases have their own individual facts and would not be different in any meaningful way based on this verdict.

    I think this video shows quite good where the problems with that dialog lie: They start out with legit criticisms that the vast majority of people would support. Namely the problems with policing. But then they drift off in this "this country is build on systemic racism. we have to dismantle "the system". Throw in terms like "household income, household wealth" like inequality in those fields says anything. "they only answer to money or violence. We will resort to violence." Guys that's not the way.

    Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?
    For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
    He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
    Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
    But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
    All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
    He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth - Isaiah 53:1-7
    For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life - John 3:16
    JESUS CHRIST, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
    🗝️ He laid down his glory (Philippians 2:7)
    🗝️ Was born of the virgine (Matthew 1:18-25)
    🗝️ Wrapped in flesh (John 1:14)
    🗝️ Lived a perfect life and never sin (1John 3:5, 1Peter 2:22)
    🗝️ Shed his precious blood on the cross of Calvary to pay the debt for our sins (1Corinthians 15:1-4 The Gospel of Salvation)
