Mantic's Walking Dead minis are some of the best one-piece plastic minis out there. They do one-piece really well and I'm sure DSO will be no different
I'm getting some Zombicide vibes with the tiles and exploration, which is great to me since Zombicide: Black Plague is my favorite board game. Legendary ed is definitely the way to go. Really looking forward to the Twilight Kin Elves.
Beautiful miniatures! I need to check the gameplay video!
This looks so good. Me and my children love heroquest so this is definitely up our street. looking forward to the Kickstarter
Nice video! I have fond memories of DS, got together with my girlfriend which never liked board games or anything like that. But in the process from going from friend to partners, we played through DS and all the expansions and it was surely a process of bonding :) We even played versus (later coop with a few house rules) which she usually doesn't, so it was great. Now she regularily enjoys dungeon crawlers and all sorts of board games, which is great, even better (or sometimes only) if they are coop. So I think I can't skip this one can I? ;)
so glad to see the tiles changing- they were the single greatest disincentive to play dungeon saga.
I just hope they leave a little extra room in each individual tile so that it does not get too crowded when too many minis are close together.
I also like to proxy the odd miniature whic sometimes can have slightly larger bases.
So glad to see mantic giving dungeon saga some new attention!!
I promised myself no new kickstarters for while....i was going to be good...but this is getting a bit too tempting!!
we won't tell anyone 😜
Agree!😅
as someone who kickstarted and owns every piece of Star Saga you created. how does this new set compare. are the rules similar just in a different setting? I love to solo add option. Does the legendary saga box come with everything you are planning to offer? the original dungeon saga had a Ton of expansions.
I got 2 questions. Most importantly, is it possible to play it solo without an app? I hope so as i play boardgames to not be on a screen. Second question is there an option to late pledge without needing a credit card?
I am glad to see the great improvements, especially the map tiles from League of Infamy. Still, my biggest problem with DS was the poor character development. It was very limiting and shallow (skills and feats), which became even more of an issue when creating your own characters. Star Saga was a step in the right direction, but apart from the possibility to choose between two feats I have not seen anything in the previews in this regard. Could you shine a bit more light on character development?
Loved the original Dungeon Saga, looking forward to this! Hoping my broke self can afford it. May have to sell some more D&D books. Also still trying to track down one of the Dwarf King's Hold titles I missed.
I am concerned that only 3 double sided dungeon tiles will be very limiting for varied play. Does anyone else feel this might be a limiting factor?
Hello! Couple of questions : In Dungeon Saga the way the minis faced mattered for front arc and what not. How will that work with circle bases in Origins? Being that the game is streamlined will that "advantage / disadvantage" be there in DSO? Does the overlord still have an overlord panel for monster stats? In the gameplay video I think it was mentioned the overlord has 4 interrupts, does this mean there is no overlord deck? Also love the idea of an optional app for this. Super excited for this Kickstarter!
Let me answer what I can from my side.
You do have a front and rear arc (and their is -1 dice to defence if being attacked in the rear. As for showing which way the mini is facing I'll let Mantic talk about that as your right about it being tough with circular bases.
The overlord has Monster stat cards.
The Overlord has 4 interups (one for each hero playing so less if less heros in play) and no there is no Overlord deck.
@@BlackJackLegacy Love the overlord changes! I did enjoy having an overlord Panel for DS, but cards allow for stats to be increased as the scenarios are played! Thanks for the reply!
I am very much interested in this, but I'd like to address 2 points:
1 - The tiles and squares sizes. It looks quite small for the, possible, amount of minis and terrain on it. Any thoughts about it? Any way you are considering bigger tiles?
2 - How about a more advanced or intermediate set of rules? I don't see much space for character progression here. I get it is family friendly, but having the option of a more advanced experience would be nice. Any comments?
Congrats on the campaign.
Love DS got all the expansions and never had any issues which others found. The only problem the original combat system did find you get bogged down in hand to hand combat for numerous turns - which wasn't a game breaker but frustrating when your stuck in combat for 4 turns as the dice were against you. Always great to hear from Ronnie 👍.
I wasn't a fan of the spindly models
@@Jonnyg552 that didn't bother me lol
To get heroes bogged down in hand to hand combat is not frustating, it's called "The Overlord player is pro!"
I really love DS, for me the best Dungeon Crawler (9/10), I hope to give 10/10 if you improve the Invisibile Overlord and Random Dungeon mechanics.
The best part: Adventurer's Companion and the raise of your heroes.
@@giovannizotti8549 in solo I was referring to not with a DM, with a DM it's expected that the heroes are punished harshly..But in solo which is great and enjoyed the mechanics. Yeah this game is great and some of the other issues people complain about I never encountered. Star Saga was another great game loved that as well 🤣
Ah man, I'm trying so hard not to get a new game but these seems just too AMAZING!!
It’s more of a board game so not something you’d need to keep spending on after buying it - still space for your bigger wargame ;)
Can I play this as solo/co-op without an App (please)?
Any idea on the difficulty level? I got Gloomhaven, hoping to get my son onto the tabletop but it's insanely strategic so didn't work out. This seems promising though
I’d say it’s simple enough to play with younger ones however it still can be more strategically played by more experienced gamers. There’s also rules to adjust the difficulty up or down which would help with younger players.
@@BlackJackLegacy excellent! Thank you for the response
You’re very welcome.
Will there be an application for solo players?
Can you use the old expansions with the new?
It sounds like the game mechanics are the same.
Also, I remember Ronnie saying there was only TWO stretch goals
I think originally solo was going to be a stretch goal but it looks like it's included now.
We will have daily reveals/unlocks, the only stretch goal will be to allow the Solo/Co-op play to be ran through an app but a none digital version of the Solo/Co-op will be available in the rulebook from the start.
@@manticgames it's just how Ronnie was talking about it that threw me.
As someone that owns the original, this is a great video
The scale of the minis looks larger.
Wondering if there will be an upgrade pack for those of us that went all in on the original KS?
Hey, this is a wholly different game built from the ground up (whilst taking the best bits from the old one), so there is no direct crossover in gameplay.
With co-op play, if the stretch goal for the app is achieved, will it still be possible to play co-op without the app? The kids and I are big co-op gamers but I've never been a big fan of app only games.
On that note can we expect a co-op gameplay video as part of the campaign?
Solo and 'full co-op' are confirmed as possible straight out of the rulebook without the app - the digital overlord will be an extra way of playing.
Do we have a launch time yet on the 30th?
3pm UK time
Any clue to to going live date or price?
It goes live Thursday 30th March at 3pm U.K. time. No announcement on price yet.
I hope you release it in Spanish and that you give the option to buy the tiles so that they act in a modular way
Looks good! Might have been backing this if Mantic had bothered sending me my copy of the original Dungeon Saga i payed for, some time in the last seven years.
I hope that after this Kickstarter will follow a new Star Saga, and, maybe a "Zombi Saga", this time without IP to pay, but with the great ruleset from the previous The Walking Dead (All Out War, Call to Arms, Here's Negan/Rick) but with more attention for solo/cooperative player :-) But now, let's open my bank box to make an "all in" to this huge title!
Noooo no more zombies lol it's over saturated and many are getting bored of zombies.
Can you make the box the same as the original? then if they are next to eachother on the shelf they will look like they go together?
I.E. make this one look like a book also.
I think they’ve already said mate that there’s too much stuff in this to fit into a box like the original.
Not having 3d furniture in the legendary edition is shameful.
Warcrow Adventures, Maladum, expansion for Descent, the upcoming Skyrim game... so much to choose from. Still not keen on the art on this one, though.
Excellent that there will be a solo option and an app would be great as I have found that this has worked well with Oathsworn and Heroquest. Having a variety of dungeon crawlers in my collection, I am pretty sure that I won't need more doors but I am not guaranteeing that I won't buy them!?
The app put me off Heroquest that much I sold it on, may as well just play warhammer quest the computer game. Oathsworn was good but it also didn’t interfere with anything in the game and could be completely ignored.
Sounds good until I hear AI, I hate apps in board games. Hope the solo experience can be played without an app
daily unlocks dont make sense - why slowly drip what everyone is going to eventually get and just lay it out on the table. There's absoutley no additional incentive via this manner.
Personally, I hate giant boxes. I would much rather have 3 normal sized boxes or 2 medium sized boxes. The tall square box is the single WORST kind of giant box. Every game I have that comes in a tall square box, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get stuff in and out of the box. The box and the trays get easily damaged. Tall square boxes are NOT a good solution.
If you are dead set on a single box, PLEASE PLEASE make a rectangular box no taller than 2 normal boxes.
You know what's sad? This was almost exactly what Mantic said when they were pushing for DS 1.0. I own the core and all expansions and I love them (a bit fidgety though) but what Mantic is trying to sell now with DS origins are what they tried selling before. Don't believe? Go watch the original DS video.
For me, I'll rather they keep expanding on the DS instead of rebooting.
Hopefully the minis are better. The original minis were trash imo. Killed the excitement of the game for me.
