- Who would have thought TV-Tobias' untimely death would NOT be the biggest plot issue with The Escape? But you know what the episode handled surprisingly well? The depiction of the Gleet Biofilters.
I "fan" edit a single scene from The Stranger so that it makes slightly more sense. We examine the show's liberal use of "action hero" Marco & continue our remorseless take-down of Jake. And what exactly was on Ax's Top Ten food list?

Why wouldn't they want Marco to morph into a gorilla? It can't be for race, right? I don't remember any racist stereotypes about Latinos and gorillas (and I'm Latino).
I'm not personally aware of that stereotype being used on Latinos. I believe there was a similar minor controversy in the fandom about ten years ago with the 2011 re-print covers and them getting a very white cover model to portray Marco holo-morphing into a gorilla, but I don't have all the details and wasn't active in the fandom over those years. For the TV show, personally I think the producers looked at which exotic animals they could obtain, and worked backwards from there, hence Rachel becoming a lion. Marco doesn't morph a gorilla because they didn't HAVE a gorilla; they have big cats and eventually a wolf that is likely at least part dog. That doesn't really explain why they chose not to give Marco a battle morph at all for the first 7 episodes though.
@Torren Good info, thanks! And only in your videos did I learn of the 2011 reprints and the graphic novelization. Good to see the IP isn't completely dead! I have a feeling, though, this will go the way of the Tripod series and not many will know about it as years go on...
