This conversation was actually done in two recording sessions... after the first stab at it, Dan came back for round 2: this time with (amazing) prepared visuals. Most of this session is from that second conversation... blame me for any obviously bad editing. But first...
The David Trilogy. How were they gonna do it? I argue, precariously, that they were already preparing for it when the show got canceled. Guess who was going to guide him to his doom in this version? Hint: It's not Rachel.

I was so disappointed when I saw the Andalite arm fight scene as a kid. I'd imagined so much tail fighting and whatnot... and for what it's worth, I love the SW prequels for what they are meant to be - highlight the politics and origins of things. As a nerd, it was fantastic. I was also fortunate to have read a bunch of interviews by I THINK Entertainment Weekly that put the prequels into light before they were even released - iirc they did a massive spread leading up to Phantom Menace with tons of interviews with George Lucas that were plastered on the AOL "homepage". He specifically stated before Episode I even came out that the tone of the first one would be childish, since Anakin was a child. Then Ep II would be angsty to reflect Anakin being a teen, and the third would be really dark to bring in Vader. The article even stated that Episode III would end with Anakin losing a battle to Kenobi, losing his limbs and getting scorched by falling near a lava river! I wish everyone had read that, too, so they would have known what to expect... the 90s internet was wild.

JJ Stocker kinda looks like Jason Marsden. When I saw his face the first time, I legit thought it was him and was surprised when he opened his mouth, haha. He even still kinda looks like him in that present-day photo.
