Another reason why Ang goes on so many detours (especially at the beginning of his journey) is that he doesn't really want to fight the Fire Nation. He didn't want the responsibility of being the Avatar, which is why he had run away at first. Then he learned what happened due to his absence, so he started on his quest because he learned that he had to deal with his responsibility or things would get worse. That being said, he still doesn't want to do it, so he like any kid would, procrastinates.
We owe the 2010 movie an apology after this.

They're going to have to try REALLY hard to make the 2010 movie look like a masterpiece in comparison, especially with this recent news by the time the show comes out
The thing was about it though, whenever sokka was sexist it would always come back to bite him. It’s OK to make a character sexist if you show it coming back to bite them in the ass afterward
It’s way to tell the children in a visual manner that if you do bad things you will suffer consequences. It’s the way to say it to the children visually rather than in a condescending way of shoving it down their throats by lecturing them

Everybody, remember that ATLA aired as a childrens show in 2007 on Nickelodeon.
Nickelodeon has demanded many alteration and changes before they wanted to air some episodes.
It is also scientifically shown that children learn in this kind of way. Not telling them to do / dont do a thing in a certain way. But to show someone what would happen. If you do it in this way a, then this will lead to this happening. Instead if you do it in the way B this will and up happening.
Another point you can make is, that it is important to show to learn from your mistakes and to rectify your actions afterwards

Maybe watch the promo/trailer content, and the interviews with the cast. Instead of these grifters that manipulate you for views. There are some shots that are literally pulled straight from the cartoon. You would have known that if you kept up with ANY of the content they are releasing up until its debut

People and buying into all the grifting channels like this one where they are paying attention to all of the changes and either misconstruing, or not telling the whole truth. Either way, it is blatantly manipulating people into thinking that the show isn’t accounting for changes it is making. If any of you had seen everything going on behind the production, and perhaps read any articles that weren’t of any of the changes, hell, even just watched the new promo content you’d understand that the people behind this show DO understand the original show and are paying HUGE respect towards it. The argument that Sokkas character is ruined because they toned down some of his sexist behavior (that lasted only 4 episodes in the cartoon and was never brought up again) is somehow ruining his whole character and development. Or the argument that they are “taking all the fun out of Aang” also a big pile of horse crap. Because if you just watched any of the trailers or promo content with Aang, it is obvious that he still is the same character. Live action Aang smiles and laughs a ton in all of the promo material he is in. He comically runs into a statue just like in the cartoon. He gets splashed with water by Katara and is laughing and smiling. He is seen laughing with Sokka and Katara when they are flying on Appa. He is seen smiling when he is gliding with the mechanists son in Omashu. Do I NEED to say more to prove Aang is going to be just like the kid he is in the cartoon? Or everyone saying things that are wrong with Bumi. It’s like they don’t even know about the fact reality has far more restrictions than animation and try to aid their pain by making all these nitpicks about how Bumi looks. It’s never about what is done right. Everyone is so pessimistic about it.
Some are just coming up with bs too. Some are claiming they are aging up Katara to be older than Sokka, which is simply NOT true.
I can guarantee that most of these people that buy into the idea the creators and the cast don’t care about the original series, have NEVER looked into any of the content behind it. Only the ones overly criticizing it and are impossible to please. And this channel is just trying to get those views from the massive grift train that this show has unrightfully garnered.

The community has been asking for this for years. And the animation/ Production team and the actors are also long time fans who have watched the show when it first aired. The Netflix show is a different version of the same story. Based on inspired by the of show. And because it is from Netflix and nog Nickelodeon, they could make it less child friendly. More sex appeal, more violence, less fun and game and more Drama .
It agree it is very different from the ATLA animation, but that was a CHILDRENS show from 2007
