Don't worry about what other people think about paint color. You guys will live there and enjoy your hard work. Cheers
I couldn't agree more ... I don't know why anyone who isn't financing the rebuild nor living in the Seabird would care about the paint color. Also if they match the headliner color there would be no depth or division between anything other than the wood
Great job! You can almost see the beginning of a small flickering light at the end of the tunnel 😅
So close!
But...
It will come.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Well done Team Seabird, she is starting to look like home ❤❤❤
I find the only solution that works for the bugs is to light a small fire in a bucket or old paint tin with some wood and as the fire develops add green damp material which smokes! The smoke from the fire outside the boat will keep all the bugs away. Just a small Smokey fire is all you need, the bugs can’t stand the Smokey atmosphere!
For the mosquitoes / midges mix together Dettol ( disinfectant) and babyoil. Rub on yourself keeps them away and you will smell nice and clean. Its an old camping trick we use here in New Zealand. Keep up the good work.
Used it often in Totaranui in the AbleTasmanNational Park. Nice memory thanks Angela.
So glad the Plywood finally arrived, I don't know why it took so long, there should be 2 sheets eventually, i think 1 sheet got delayed. Anyway,, Awesome progress this week you two! The paint is really helping to show it's new life! Thanks for sharing your amazing adventure with us!
We have loads of miggies here in nz to this winter.
They aren't welcome, sorry to say.
They are so annoying 🙄
Cheers for watching 🙂
@@SailingSeabird hate it when they thing my nose is a hanger for them to park in, bloody horrible lol
It really becomes a livable boat, I must say I was sceptic, but I really trust that you are able to pull it of from where you are now! Your progress is impressive. Especially since your method of keeping as much in place as possible is very labour-intensive. But please assure you remove all the moldy spots because those are very bad for your health.
We do hope all the mould is found, cleaned, or replaced.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Hey Stuart and Marina, good to see you again. Nice job/s...looking good, I am so, happy you've kept at it! I wish you continued good luck!!!
Every week looking better and better! Well done both and I hope you have a good weekend too! Richard (UK)
Thank you.
Strp by step.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I really like the two toned white and ivory both. With the darker wood on bottom, white in the middle, and ivory on top. The colors accentuate each other.
Indeed
You could also talk to the boat yard about putting up a bat house on a pole or a purple Martin house or another type of bird house that eats alot of mosquitoes
Love watching your progress. Can't wait to see your floor go down. Its awesome what you are doing!!
Thanks so much!
We are still not sure what the final covering will be.
Cheers for watching 🙂
The mechanics hand soap is Swarfega. My mate used to make his own stuff by adding a bit of very fine sand to turps and washing up liquid.
Flush those water tanks out thoroughly and then all the plumbing.. try to get any plastics and plastic fumes out the system fill them with water and leave them in the ☀️ the warmth will drivebout any volatiles while you can flush them out outside the boat.
Your doing wonders ... the weathers been bonkers this year... flicking from floods to cooking hot 🥵 over days.
Swarfega ... Soap 😊
The ivory makes the wood trim pop. Looks great
Thank you.
We think it works better than white.
Cheers for watching 🙂
@@SailingSeabird you guys made me work hard to find an innuendo this week lol. Best I can do is Marina was good at getting the goo in the gap lol
Smart plan with the epoxy, it’ll look great and you 100% know it’s sealed.
Another great transformation.Looking good.😊
Thank you so much 😀
Cheers for watching 🙂
You can make 'custom' gaskets or 'O' rings with surgical tubing and 'instant glue'. The tubes come in all sizes and colors and for low pressure applications they're way cheaper and make excellent seals...You can tell everyone you did it on 'Porpoise'!🐬
Yes, you may buy the NITRILE RUBBER 'O' RING CORD OIL & FUEL RESISTANT SOLD PER METER-1mm-15mm diameter on E-bay.
Great advice.
Tbh we found them online, easier option.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Wow! Looks really amazing. Coming together nicely.
Thanks a bunch!
Step by step.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Well done this week guys The ivory paint looks terrific and gives the cabin a warmer feel. I know there is still a distance to go but things are really coming together.
Really looking good you two, keep up the good work.
Thank you! Will do!
Cheers for watching 🙂
I really enjoy watching your beautiful boat come together. Definitely a channel I look forward to each week!

Enjoying watching 👍👍👍
Thanks for the visit.
Glad you enjoy.
Cheers for watching 🙂
On my boat I prefer the ivory as when the sunshine comes in it softens the light. 💖🤗. All the work you are doing is looking so very nice. The boat will soon be your beautiful home. ⛵ 💖 🤗
thanks for sharing guys much apreciated
Our pleasure!
Cheers for watching 🙂
Great to see it coming on. You are doing well.

Hello you both, you are excellent artists in boat working 💪 👏 ❤❤❤❤
Skomentuję po polsku, żebyście wiedzieli, że tu też ktoś ogląda wasze zmagania z przyjemnością. Powodzenia.
Looking fab, well done to you both 👏👏
Thanks so much! 😊
Cheers for watching 🙂
Nice stringers! 😊 Rotten is relative. Gravity always wins.
Work, work, work and then more work. You guys are doing an amazing job. The paint jobs look great. " Steady as she goes ".
Good luck with all.
Thanks 👍
We enjoy what we do, so it's not all bad.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Well done guys, it’s starting to come together👍🏼
Thank you.
Slowly slowly 🐌
Cheers for watching 🙂
Well done again. Splash in sight :)
We are a very long way from Splash Day, but we are edging closer.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Hello again. The interior is starting to look good now. Can't hardly wait to see the tanks and floor installed. And then all the wood walls and cabinets. Looking forward to next week. Ok enjoy. Ciao. geo
Your boat is looking great, you've come a long way guys..more power to all elbows 👊🏻👏🏻💪🏻
That flooring looks friggin great
I'm loving the progress guys! It's looking amazing. Excellent work!
Thanks so much!
It's amazing what a bit of colour does.
Cheers for watching 🙂
My Favorite "scruffy sailors" 😂 ☝️♥️✌️🌍🙏
Thank you.
I do scrub up occasionally 🤣
Cheers for watching 🙂
The cross between the names Marina & Stu would be "Maru". I looked it up in Japanese and it means: worth protecting, loved, a world of it's own. It is a naming convention for Japanese boats. It could be worth considering the extension to Seabird. Seabird-Maru.
Paint color: 1)Get any color paint on, 2)Carry on w reconstruction, 3) Get her in the water, 4)Get her under sail, 5)Worry about paint color on exposed bits which will make Marina happy, 6)Do not forget #5.
It's a great plan!
The only reason we are painting now is because that paint stinks!
Cheers for watching 🙂
Engine room wall looks fantastic
Thanks for sharing your journey with us!!! Its a great idea to fill that back part of the bilge under the engine with epoxy. Sailing Squalo discovered that there was alot of stench coming from that area because the water that made it back there along with engine oil and everything else disgusting you can imagine, so the had to cut open their keel and rebuild it back up. They basically closed the void that the factory left with epoxy, foam and then fiberglass over it all
It's starting to look more and more like a beautiful boat. I like the white color with the wood accents. You still have a long way to go, but progress is clearly visible. I hope you feel that way too. Have a nice week to you too. Good luck with all your work.
Nice one as always. Good progress and the painted walls look really nice..
Glad you like them!
Cheers for watching 🙂
How beautiful the boat looks. You two worked really hard this past week. Excited for you both. love from Italy
Excellent progress all round and I think the the colour cream is perfect for the interior with varnish trim. If your yacht could sing she would sing 'you make me feel brand new' ....👍👍
I admire your perseverance and in the end you will have a very nice and safe boat. I really like watching you two working together. 👋
The boat looks terrific. Keep up the good work. You should be very pleased with what you have achieved.
More layers than a cheese cake
Wow, is it ever looking spiffy! Hard work is definitely paying off. Yay!!! 😎❤️😎❤️😎❤️😎🥰
It's starting to look like a home now, very good job. You guys are extremely hard workers and the results are definitely showing.. Cheers from Austin, TX
The painted parts are really beautiful.
Looking good. OMG, that wind!
Pssst, your determination is showing 😂👍👍
It’s really coming along…I can see the finish line!
You must have better eyes than us.
The finish line is still a long way off.
But, we are getting there.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I always enjoy your episodes. Thank you
We are glad you enjoy our videos.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Great episode. The destination is in sight! I’ve been following from the start and I’m still not bored. It’s a weird thing but it’s like you’re a couple of mates sending me a videogram every week. It’s so much more personal than a tv show. So I have to follow to the end and I know you’re really committed to getting there. Well done. Love it!
It’s looking really good now. It looks like progress will seem faster now. Great job y’all.
Hopefully...
There is still a lot to do.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Getting there guys. Always good to see it going back together.
Slowly coming together in time only, the amount of work completed is huge and looking great, Nice job.
Thank you.
Slowly getting through the jobs.
Soon, we can get to the fun jobs.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Well done Stuart and Marina the boat is coming alive no longer looks abandoned
It's looking FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I wonder if I can hire you guys to do QA in my imaginary boat company??
Keep going you two , your doing a great job and sure you cannot wait to get that floor done and all the horrible jobs so you can move back in , been a journey and feel we have been there with you , your a great couple and have been through some really tough times , hears to getting back in the water where the rewards of all you hard work and dedication will pay off 🎉🎉❤
Thank you for your kind words.
One day...
Cheers for watching 🙂
White and cream together looks great with warm wood. It's hard when you judge each alone... Cream looks old, white looks sterile, warm wood looks old fashioned etc...Until you see all together it will look beautiful
Great point!
It is hard to tell ways going to work.
We are really happy with the ivory.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I think the white paint with varnished wood as a combination looks very modern and gives good contrast. Good decision not to paint the bilge stringers but leave clear epoxy. Well done. For me, I very much like your color choice(s) as it gives the boat a light and airy feel inside and a feeling of space. Excellent!
I'm really enjoying watching you two bringing the seabird back to life , I'm a livaboard yachts in N Z , you a doing such a good job of every thing , it's cool
We hope we're doing a good enough job.
Only time will tell 😂 🤣 😅
Cheers for watching 🙂
I don't know if you have them in Europe, but in Australia you can buy flexible plastic pouring lips that will flex to fit the rim of paint cans from 500 ml to 4 litres. They are really handy.
It's amazing how far you two have brought that old boat, she's going to look new by the time you're done with her.
The ivory looks 100%, nicely done. Looks like you two are making great progress now that things are going back in, I love your work!!
Marina & Stewart, fabulous episode. I've been in the yachting industry all my life and realize the expense of their product's. Finding your engine room epoxy white was truly an omen. Your success seems contagious. My wife just returned from our local grocery store, their butcher gave her 3 lbs of lamb bones which I'll turn into a broth. She said, "if Stewart can paint his yacht with bin paint we can enjoy our free broth from Hannaford's! Great stuff, you both are a privilege to watch each week. Keep up the fantastic job and enjoy!
NICE
Thanks!
Glad you enjoy.
Cheers for watching 🙂
It’s a looking very good. An inspiration.
solar energy and a bug light will thin down those bugs a lot.
Funny you should say.
I was thinking of a blue bug light last night whilst getting mauled by mozzies.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Keep going !!
At the very beg of yr adventure i said 3 to 4 years ...

We think so too!

Great show! Starting to look great again. Keep going! ✌
Thanks! Will do!
Slowly coming together.

You best use RAL 9001 in the cabin. It’s off white.
We looked at few colours and are really happy with the 812 Ral.
It matches the ceiling better and we find it warmer.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Really starting to come together!
