I was taught by a Zappahead who drove it into my head that I am never to repeat a solo 😆 Strictly Taboo. If you ain't expressing the moment you're not fully expressing.
I miss him too, he's my favorite Songwriter since 1979.
FZ thought it was more impressive to surprise the listeners with guitar soloing. He always did and continues to surprise me. It's about excitement and Frank knew how to generate it!
I've been listening to this song since I was about 10 years old. As a life long drummer, It still moves me and I didn't play the Game and I was never Beat. Words to live my IMHO.

Wow, I have always wanted to see a video of this tune. Zappa at his best, the hilarious satirical poem and That guitar solo !! ... believe it or not, the original version from the "Sheik Yarbuti" album has an even better solo, it's longer and it doesn't have that feedback that kinda threw off his playing at the beginning of it; but still, this one becomes mind-blowing as it progresses and he gets more into it ... superb, greatest Rock musician/composer ever :):) ... by the way, I saw him do it live with the 1981-82 band (Steve Vai, Chad Wackerman, Scott Thunes) to close the show !!
I think the Sheik version might be my favorite Zappa solo. I have to say that this version’s solo is a bit uninspired in comparison. The drums are pretty great though.

As I am 60 now I am a big fan of FZ. When I wax 20 in 1982 I wanted to go out in Germany THE WEST as I lived in Hungary behind the iron curtain to listen FZ in a concert. But it was not performed because Europe was stupid for FZ. He escaped back to US.
