The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST Is A Modern Day Avalanche With Class Leading Range

- The electric truck wars continues to heat up with GM finally entering the space with the first ever #Chevrolet #SilveradoEVRST. Unlike its rivals from Ford and Ram, the #ChevroletSilveradoEV is built on a dedicated EV platform called #Ultium and the #SilveradoEV has the look that brings back the old #ChevroletAvalanche in its design, right down to its folding midgate. With a large 200+ kWh battery pack, the #ElectricSilverado delivers best-in-class range with up to 450 miles on a full charge.

They should've called it an Avalanche
That's the first thing I was thinking about to 😂
There's literally a "e" at the end that could've been blue
@@futurefunk88eddins96 I don't know why they did not do that though
@@futurefunk88eddins96 same with "v"
Yup
My avalanche is still hauling ass to this day.
Not with that shitty ass transmission and water pump it ain't 😂
96k? LOL, lost me there, did they not learn anything from the Lightning sales debacle. These need to be priced the SAME as a gas truck or they will never move.
Agreed. Especially since the Lightening was quite affordable when it first launched, then the prices skyrocketed like $20-$30k
I agree with this statement completely. Honestly, EV trucks aren’t really trucks. It’s a truck body style, but it’s really for people who will commute daily. It shouldn’t cost the same as a gas powered version, or at the most it should cost the same.
These trucks aren't for you. These are for the wealthy.
@@DadDrums1015that’s how the vast majority of trucks are used, as ridiculously oversized single occupant air haulers. But damn! Look how macho and intimidating I (think I) am!
Facts. Especially once he hopped in the backseat and how cheap it looked. The crooked stitching on the plastic dash too
Words you'll surely hear in Sofyan's reviews..puny, 5'7 and bespoke.
You didn't add thunk???? Hope you don't forget your flows that easily.
And also my rear is blown out. 😮
And "when I get it back home for a week."
And he consistently pronounces standard as stan-dirt
Estimated EV range is pretty good.
Those other EVs with 290miles or less is just unacceptable.
Should have just called it the Avalanche EV
EValanche
@@klasseact6663 hahaha u should get a job at chevby
@lui1367 thank you, I guess I missed my calling😇 Btw my other clever name was calling that "thing" Ford made with 4 doors and a Mustang logo on it...Mocker-E 😇
That irregular stitches line 🥲
I love how we live in a time where 0-60 in 4.1 seconds is "a little more acceptable" in a 9000 lb pickup truck
Yeah, and when he was talking about the Hummer having soft brakes I was putting two and two together. TooSuper fast + TooSoft brakes = ????
It's getting to the point to where, if an EV won't run an 8 second quarter mile, the thing is dangerously slow, and unusable.
I have a Lightening and love it, but I really like this. Great Video. Ford and GM definitely have Tesla beat when it comes to EV trucks. The Cyber truck is ridiculous.
I'd love an affordable mid-sized truck that had the fold down back seat option like the Avalanche. The price and electric only will kill this from being a serious buy for most people
The most wonderful , attractive , fun, car reviews on CZcams is here . I love you guys . I hate people review cars beside posting their dealerships and saying " thank you for this..." Weird and feel fake.
This is an amazing truck.
You misspelled turd.
Really nice looking truck! Although not having Android auto/Apple car play could be a deal breaker for most people. Me personally, I always ask if it has that feature before I decide to buy.
Great video. Thank you again. A optional mini fridge for the center console storage would be nice. 😁
The Avalanche is BACK baby!!!
I used to drag around a 10 foot longboard in my truck and this folding mid gate would have been awesome for that.
From the Hummer's WTF to this Silverado's WOW mode GM is really "killing it" with these goofy acronyms. I really like the style of this truck though, the Avalanche was cool. A lot of people are going to be pissed about Android auto & Apple carplay not being in the mix, especially this late in the game and for $100K+. And the roads in Michigan aren't the best? What!
Redline Reviews just wanted to point something out real quick, GM trucks are the #1 selling trucks in the US.
Kim’s PJ loves this truck!
I wonder if shifting down to 22s would fix everything for you, I can just imagine the range with 22s!
Thanks for the review it was great, thanks
If you put the middle gate down and got a camper shell you have a huge SUV, with 2 seats.
"It has to do truck things" haha laughed so hard . Awesome video. I can't wait until towing gets up the strength of diesel. I would love to have a F350
Looks very good this new electric pick up silverado from chevrolet😊
Hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather here in Michigan, sir! 😊
cloudy and humid?
With a tall glass of cold tap water
@@CalvinHikes absolutely!
@@CalvinHikes it's not florida lol it's actually sunny and dry, and luckily doesn't go over 95
Ars Technica's review of this Ultifi infotainment system in Blazer EV reveals a hot mess in daily life, if you expect any phone integration at all. The lack of Android Auto or CarPlay is an absolute deal-killer.
Saw the 96k price tag… thats gonna be a no for me dog. And I loved the avalanche!!!
Terrific job and this can be my daily EV truck.
lol good luck
96k for a plastic electric avalanche and they took away CarPlay and android auto to force you to PAY a subscription for google maps???? LOLLLLLLLL good luck GM. You’re gonna need it. I hope next time the government doesn’t save you.
Yeah, but there's a lot of road noise and it's uncomfortable.
While it's true that the Silverado is #2 in pickup model sales, it's also true that GM pickups (Silverado & Sierra ) have outsole the F150 since Q1 2020.
I thought the newer silverado was the best looking truck on the market. But this electric version is terrible.
Also sorry about the Michigan roads 😂 we struggle around here lol.
Great review as always. I’m scratching my head wondering if people really will spend over $96,000 for a pickup truck?
Ask Ford about the King Ranch, Raptor, RAM TRX, Tesla, Rivian, etc.
@@thejake8099 No doubt.
I mean cool truck really some nice EV’s but when are these powerful nice EV’s going to be attainable to the middle and lower class plebs?
And the ICE trucks that have this much power are attainable to the middle and lower class???? To equip a ICE Silverado as closely as you can to this you are talking 70k plus so it doesn't matter whether you're talking about 70k or 100k neither of those price points fit for most middle class people and definitely not lower class.
@@kenyattaclay7666 You are not wrong. Trucks in general are absolutely ridiculous price wise. A truck I bought 3.5 years back now stickers for 20k more than what it did when I bought it. I'm not sure how manufacturers thing normal people will be able to afford them anymore. I think they are going to get a nice reality check soon.
Depreciation will hit these hard most likely so you'll be able to buy one in about 5 years lol for under 50k
It is if you have decent credit 😂
They'll just add the 120 or 132 month payment option and people will be in massive debt......
The front brakes are .6" larger than my Elantra N and its atleast double the weight 🤔🤷♂️🙄
The rear seat belts click into that little open rectangle to keep them out of the way
Gotta love that exhaust note!
Can't wait to own one next to the Ram ev
People complain about price but EVs are luxury product and there are plenty of rich people in USA.
Wait how does the infotainment connect to the internet for maps and Google??
Do a video on how leg room and the other interior volume metrics are calculated. I appreciate your thorough reviews that mention interior volumes. But what do the metrics actually measure? You state 44 inches of rear leg room for this vehicle. How is that measured?
Between 100 and 130 psi for semi, but love the knowledge you represent. Love the vids though!
It looks cool. Thats about it.
100K and MEH craftmanship😏
Really excited to see what RAM does since each of the big 3 is outdoing each other. This thing is REALLY impressive with features. Too expensive by 2x though.
The new Ram RHO is significantly faster with a small 3.0 inline 6 power source. It has many advantages, and a more than adequate 4 ton towing capacity. As well as costing 25,000 less. The TRX/RHO platform is the most durable and overall safest vehicle on the market.
I think this GM is much nicer than the other EVs, but the new RHO at a 75,000 price is the best pound for pound in the world. Not to mention the decent gas mileage capabilities.
Yes I'm biased because Ram has always been our pleasure. We work in security. So Glock and Ram are our must haves.
Baruk Hashem ⚓
This mid gate is wildly over complicated, with overlapping pieces to catch wood chips and dirt. They need to redesign it
I love the new EV-lanche!
We are getting closer and closer to an actual tank
USA USA USA!!! 🗿
I’m not a fan of EV but I would buy it just for the fact it doesn’t look ugly. It looks appealing compared to other EV vehicles that look trash.😂
Characterizing the F150-L as an F150 with the gas tank pulled out and a battery put in its place is completely wrong to the point of sounding moronic. The body mounting points on both frames are the same but the frame of the Lightning and everything in it is completely different and unique.
If it was smarter to design when move back seats forward make the seat back recline little more comfortable. 👍
100k oh yeah thts exactly what i wanted...........
trust me! the cyberfuck is NOT a rival….😂😂😂
True. Cybertruck is a joke with no gauges, useless shape, panel gaps, and sociopath CEO
The cybertruck was supposed to have been $38K. That would have been a threat to everyone. But that didn't happen...
Wow very nice car 💐🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Nicest EV Truck I've seen so far, & Definitely the Nicest Truck from Chevy, Great Job Chevy, Ford F-150 Lighting beware, Chevy is coming for you
"not the fastest" charging. This thing takes juice like a fire hose vs. the garden hoses of most other EVs. The difference is this is an Olympic-sized pool of a battery.
Its big battery also makes it more of a useful truck everyday. Its weight also makes it safer to drive in high wind scenarios.
Imagine an accident? Ever seen lithium battery issues? I now know why elon built them with massive safety (5 stars plus). To stop the inevitable crash/expl disaster.
@@G-Ratedalso makes it kill anyone it crashes into 😂
@@mcsike7264 who thinks about Raptors, Model X Plaids, or massive RAM TRXs crashing into people and killing them? I’m sure any vehicle that crashes into someone could kill them. Are you really that slow??
@@G-Rated i was talking about other cars not just ppl walking about seems like your the slow one here my guy if your the only one that didnt get it
Correction Silverado nomenclature has been around longer than 25 years. I have a 1994 Chevy K1500 Silverado. Silverado was a package that included the badging. That’s 30 years.
Yeah, my dad had late 70s Silverado when i was a kid. I guess it was a trim level back then.
Anyone else get the impression from the video that the truck was rolling back into the lake or am I nuts?
Good looking truck and way better than Tesla . Not a Ford fan and Ev truck fan in general so no way . Will keep my gas Silverado .
Great review! PSY-Gangnam Style 10:00
Nice avalanche.
Funny, just a couple of months ago i mentioned that apple carplay/android auto were going to start disappearing from GM products and someone argued with me that this feature would be in there. I wonder where that person is now because the evidence is appearing
I imagine they’ll look good sitting on the dealers lot. There is a convenience store here in Maryland that has six Tesla charging stations. I often gas up Saturday morning and get a cuppa coffee there. All six have cars in them. That’s if one or two or three aren’t out of order. And there’s a line of 5 to 7 cars waiting to charge.I will be the last one to buy an EV.
60 PSI is not unusual and is common for most 3/4 ton trucks and up. With the weight of this truck that makes sense. If the reviewer had just taken a 3/4 ton down that road I bet his comparison of the ride quality would not be so bad although the low profile tires are definately not doing it any favors.
This is a avalanche!
Im not the only one who thought avalanche when i first saw it. I just wish they didnt bump up the price
Maybe possible to put the 35's in there
Just wish it had more towing the Dodge charger can tow 14,000 and has almost a 700 miles range.
I wish the c pillar was straight. Like the sierra. This avalanche style pillar is just so impractical
It's required for stiffness because it uses unibody construction.
@@hwirtwirt4500 the Sierra EV doesn’t have it. GMC has a straight pillar, just like the gas burner
Realistically speaking it’s time now for US automakers to give up and hand it over to Asian automakers otherwise people have a lot of money to throw away.
***** Rented this truck for 9 days and the screen blackout and the AC gave out due to a HIGH VOLTAGE CHARGE which was prompt on the screen. I had no AC on a hot day while it was raining. I was in Texas when this all happened *****
Save your money until it’s fixed
How many $96k trucks are they actually selling? Seems like it would make more sense to release something more sanely priced and sell a lot of them. I guess they're charging enough to make a nice profit on each one.
In Canada this is gonna cost like $120,000
Who cares?
Canada's quickly becoming a communist dystopian.
@@gerry9306consumers ?
Don’t buy it. Way overpriced. But if you do, that would be on you the consumer.
@@DadDrums1015 I'll buy want I want and so will you. Canadians don't need your advice. Free Quebec. 👍
Too bad about the pricing but the design is pretty good.
96k for a truck ☠️
Meme yacht
Another six-figure appliance has hit the market. People who can't afford it will scramble to sign 96 month loans so they can park it outside of their apartment and complain about charging it at Electrify America stations that don't work half the time. 🎉
Your prescience is appreciated.
I would take this over a lightning anyday
It would take nothing to get that back window out for someone to break in.
The stitching would bother me too especially at that price point
Ah yes, this should save the planet.
"Want me to navigate there?"
"No." 🗿
I think this truck should be called the Avalanche, to differentiate it from the regular Silverado. It also looks like an Avalanche and the name better fits this truck.
At 29 minutes, what is the vehicle coming up behind you?!
Another Silverado EV. He's at an event with multiple journalists and reviewers driving all of them around.
So much in the truck no room for a start button 🤣🤣🤣
EValanche!
People - Get used to these prices - they won't be going down anytime soon, if ever... Look at gasoline/diesel truck prices - just as unaffordable for low income buyers... Obviously the target buyer is upper middle class or above. Mavericks are made for lower income buyers that feel they must drive a truck.
Na, people can't afford these things. Depending on how long the economy is in the tank we may see a return of small truck and cars like in the 80s... And that why they were sold back then, bad economy.
You cant just price you crap at anything and force people to buy them.I live in an upper middle class area. NO ONE is filling up at the gas pumps.
People spend by accident, over 45 mins on their phone checking emails and such, should be convenient to charge in 10%-80%
Good luck getting 7 gallons of milk in that center console.
What a joke! 🤣
Gonna have to pump it in.
I'm getting sick of these new cars having that driver watch camera. There's no need for it and I feel there's going to be a privacy issue associated with it.
I only like crewcabs.
The flawed stitching is a good example of how bad GM quality has always been. And with close to a six figure price tag all windows should come with one touch up/down function and the back doors should come with soft touch plastic.
And if you thought American ICE trucks and SUVs were shockingly inefficient, let me introduce you to this thing: 212+ Kwh gets you a 440-mile range with a weight of 9K lbs. At this point, EVs like this weigh over 2k lbs more than their ICE counterparts. What's the point? I'm pretty sure this thing isn't any greener than an ICE vehicle. This is all getting very confusing.
Saw this at the Chicago Auto Show this past winter and I've gotta say...IT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE INPERSON ❗️❗️
The Chevy reminds u of the cybertruck..?
I get that it’s the top trim, but $96K and massive/ridiculous rims really lost my interest. Rivian makes way more sense to me.
I am happy to see *gm* go to a 24-inch wheel. You know exactly why they went this route Soyfan, you were one of reviewers that complained Escalade V wheels were too small. When *gm* revealed their new full-size SUVs back in 2020 I already knew they would make this move because of the simple fact that the wheel wells weren’t filled out to perfection. Go back and see how surprisingly “smedium” the wheels looked on the 2021 Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade due to the platform’s new size increase.
The Silverado EV is massive compared to a Tesla Cybertruck, these wheels fit this truck and they even look amazing on the 2025 Suburban HC. After getting a good look and feel at this truck I’m confident that the upcoming Tahoe EV will look amazing as well.
They wanted it to ride terrible obviously. 24s are just a money grab.
Why would you “brake torque” it? It’s an EV not a gas engine. I don’t understand.
100k and it has a chevy trax interior. Good luck with that.
It just looks like an EV Avalanche
I can’t wait for the humiliating towing tests.
I wonder how many pickups trucks actually tow anything? And how far if they do.
What’s this 10’ by 10” in length statement. Repeatedly said. 10’10” in length is how it’s said.
Yeah, I was waiting for the more conventional 4'X8' sheet o' plywood. TEN FEET! WOW & WTF.
Rear charge port while towing equals having to disconnect trailer to charge… WTF, GM?
Charge ports for EV trucks belong near the front of the vehicle
