I love these "amateur" videos! So much more genuiene than those professional channels.
Keep up the good work! And respect for sharing your knowledge and experiences!
Thank you. We're glad you liked it and appreciate your support.
It looks beautiful!! Thank you.
Thank you
You did a great job. Motivating me to attempt doing my guest bathroom.
Thank you. I understand it can be daunting at first, but just take your time and enjoy the process.
Great job! it looks amazing...I now have the confidence to my bathrooms this summer
You can do it!
So glad your video came into my feed :), turned out nice. 👏
Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful.
Great job love it
Thanks a bunch.
I have an old sink countertop exactly like that, cracks and everything. You give me hope. Thanks for making the video.
Thank you. I'm glad you found it inspiring.
@@chrismakesstuff1 I got mine done and it looks great. Thanks again for the inspiration.
@@deweymaring4688 awesome. I'm glad to hear the video was inspiring and that it turned out well for you. Cheers
I have diy a lot but not with epoxy I agree with another you make this less intimidating 😊 looks great.
Thanks. It's actually a lot of fun. I've learned that when designing a color/ pattern it's best to be open minded for the results and not try to force a look. It's a liquid that will flow ant naturally create a interesting result.
Great job!
Thanks
That turned out really nice.
Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed it.
NiceLY
Wow, I have no idea about this technique, but watching this video gives me hope and motivation to implement it. We want to remodel all our bathrooms with epoxy. Thank you for sharing.
Happy to inspire. It's a fun project. Thanks for watching
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Good job!!!!!!💜
Thank you
Looks 👍 great.
Thank you. Cheers.
EXCELLENT JOB
Thank you! Cheers!
Anyways LOLOL 😂, the veining looks amazing! You did an awesome job. What a difference it made🤓
Thanks so much! 😊 it's not perfect, but I'm happy with it anyways. Lol
Looks good! I will be doing mine soon hope it turns out as good as yours!
Thanks. The cool thing about epoxy is if you don't like the results the first pour, just lightly sand and pour again.
How do you keep the epoxy from getting too thick in the bottom of the sink?
Nice job! But could you please clarify that you did NOT send epoxy into your plumbing system?! That you drained it into a receptacle placed under the disconnected drain pipe/trap. (At least that is what I hope you did.)
Lol. Draining the epoxy down the drain would be ill advised. I did disconnect the plumbing underneath. I also bagged off the inside of the cabinet and placed a bucket under the drain hole to catch the dripping resin.
@@chrismakesstuff1, Glad to hear it! 😊
Thank you for letting us know will keep that in mind.
There's no drain even installed
I going to try this ! I hope I get the same result as yours !
I last part of video had no sound. I am trying to figure out what you did towards the end.
Stops at 13 minutes I see it is for 19 min
It's a fun project
good job
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. I’m not as intimidated by this project now
Thank you. Its actually a fun process.
OK good info
Glad to help
man that's cool...
It really turned out 10x better than I imagined
Thanks Hank Hill. This project also uses propane and propane accessories.
This is beautiful! I’ve got 2 vanities and sinks I’m contemplating doing this on. I’ve never used epoxy, but you gave great instructions. I’m a DIY girl so I may very well try it. Those sinks are some of the last projects on my to do list. Curious how epoxy will hold up in a sink.
thank you. The epoxy is durable but it does have its limitations. Aggressive chemicals, and nail polish remover will damage the surface, so its something to consider.
I love this! Going to give it a try! Thank you, love the sink!
@@margerykirner5604 thank you. Its a fun process.
Enjoyed your video . Process looks simple , for a beginner like me . Will the epoxy stay on in sink and backslash? Seems like it would run . What happens if we let epoxy dry out a bit before applying to inside of sink ? Thank you for sharing .
@@RosaGarcia-sc8ny thank you. epoxy resin is self leveling, so any vertical or angle surface will be thinner than the adjacent flat area. The epoxy does stick to the sink and backsplash. I'd be very careful about letting the epoxy "set up" before pouring. Epoxy in a bucket hardens a lot faster than when it is poured out.
Use a roller for sink and the back splash
I have seen folks use a 4" foam roller with good results. I like the simplicity, control, and easy clean up of the bondo scrapers.
Great job. Could you please tell me the name of products, thanks
thank you. Materials used are listed in the description.
It looks do much better than it did
I don't know what you are trying to say.
@@chrismakesstuff1 I think they meant "It looks so much better than it did before"
The color of your sink is like mine. Do we need primer for this ?
I didn't use primer, but if you're existing surface and your desired surface are vastly different, you will want to put down a base color
What material was your original sink and counter?
Corian... or some other brand of synthetic surface... basically plastic.
Nice! What did you plug the drain with?
I didn't actually plug the drain. I used tape as a temporary damn which is removed before the epoxy hardens. I also place a bucket underneath to catch the dripping resin
About how long did you wait before you removed the tape?
@@monicacanchola6444 time will vary with room temperature and humidity. You want to wait until it is tacky, but not dripping. For this project it was about 30-45 minutes.
Nice! How has it held up? Particularly in the sink?
It's held up great to date. No cracks or hazing, but like all Epoxy it will "yellow" over time. It's not the vibrant white, but looks more like natural rock.
@@chrismakesstuff1 thank you!!
Hi, do you think it would cover a longer sink, say 90” long or do I need to get 2 gallons? Thanks. What a beautiful job!
Thank you. I would be surprised if you're project would take more than a gallon
One more question and thanks for responding! Do I need to do a bonding agent first, before applying the epoxy and why didn’t you use a top coat to seal it in? Thanks
@@sherremoss2704 using a bonding agent is not necessary. On wood surfaces I paint the surface a similar color of the desired epoxy pour. This seals the wood, and helps achieve the desired appearance. As for top coats, its the same epoxy without color, just clear. For high use areas, kitchen counters, tables, etc., I will use a a top coat. This particular bathroom counter is rarely used so I didn't.
@@chrismakesstuff1 Thank you. I am using it in our master bathroom. Maybe I need a top coat.
Hi. I couldn’t hear any sound from 13:30 - 18:00. What happened? Also, can I do this exact same method, and use the exact same products, on an old CERAMIC/PORCELAIN sink? Or is that different? Thank you.
Hi Mike, long story short on the lack of sound, I used copyright free music, but the website kept claiming rights too it, so easiest solution was just to remove that section of audio. To address your ceramic porcelain question, yes. Just make sure you scuff the surface prior to application. I've done a few videos on Epoxy coating ceramic flower pots that you might find useful.
Two of my bathrooms I’m going to do the floors in epoxy and the jet tub is all tile and the wall around it
I don’t have a CZcams page but I’m a make one once I get all this work done and I was a painter for over ten years so I also painting my family room and one of the bedrooms and I was on Pinterest I bet a lot of ideals off that app it’s never ending work check it out
Very cool. I'm interested to see it.
Is this food safe for kitchens too??
Yes it is. Here is a video of a kitchen countertop i did. czcams.com/video/eqVU2ObjevI/video.html
Just make sure to use a food safe resin. I roll dough and prep food on mine.
The name brand I do the same thing those company’s do I play buy it from whatever distributor and They just put their own label on the bottles of epoxy
A lot of the epoxy brands is just re branded, or bought in bulk and bottled.
There is this Guy on CZcams his channel is BYOT
About two years ago I was looking up barn doors and his channel popped up this guy does really good work there’s all kinds of videos on there of jobs he has done
Before I said the name of his channel I had to look again sure I had the name right but I’m watching a video right now an bath tub with old ass tile and he epoxy’s the old title and he does a great job
Stone coat those guys talk to much and the some of those bathrooms tub kit walls those crazy designs with all the crazy colors looks like 💩💩
I like the look you are doing and I like to go to home depo and check out the new tile and make the epoxy have a more natural look
Sounds good
Great job one solid color of apoxy over the tile your standing on would be awesome also
thank you. The tile could look cool as one color but this kind of epoxy does have its limitations and would probably not hold up well to foot traffic.
Epoxy simks are used in labs. So if done right it should last forever.
yes.
He should have scooped some of that out of the bottom of the sink and sprayed it with denayured alcohol instead of torching.
I don't know how to respond to that comment.
Why not buy it, already made 😅😅😅
Some people like to buy, some people like to create. Both options are acceptable.
Please do not try this. these products are not compatible, It will not last before it starts to flake off. thin in spots and thick in the bottom. But what do I know. Only been refinishing tubs and sinks for 40 years
I'm sorry that you have had poor results. I can say Ive done the same process on the same substrate years ago, and other than a few scratches, it still looks great.
What do you recommend?
This guy has no idea what he is doing. That paint thinner it out way too much
interesting... no paint thinner was used, but ok
This looks a mess and you were messy! Very sloppy!!!
Thanks for your input
“Anyway” doesn’t have an s at the end of it. It is singular only. Please please use the word as singular only. It hurts my ears when I hear it as plural. . Thank you
Okey dokey, thanks for watching.
Any comment on the counter?
Petty Karen, put your fingers in your ears! Only you care he's sharing his diy project with anyone who's interested..
Really! Very rude
Well, anyways, good video
Great job. Could you please tell me the name of products, thanks
thank you. Materials used are listed in the description.
