This is a monumental feat.
That was AWESOME! Great team effort.
Congratulations gentlemen. Extremely impressive.
Pretty epic ride guys, wtg on the record.
Awesome job! I got to learn biking. Ran it on foot Sept 2020 took me 3d 10h! 🤪🏃♂️🏃♂️
That is some amazing pace for 240 miles and on gravel. My brain/body says two day minimum, but actually three would do it for us slightly older mere mortals. Awesome effort.
Not gravel.
@@migueltrujillo5932 yes it is. It is crushed limestone. I live 4 blocks from the KATY.
@@jamesgargano8812 yes crushed limestone is what I was thinking.
@@migueltrujillo5932 Ah, I see what you meant now.
Wow 😮
Have to disqualify this effort, great effort it was though!!! 👏 But tradition suggest each rider must ring the bell 🔔 to start and end the ride!!! Next time!!! Enjoyed great ride!
I’m a little late to the show but well done gentlemen!
Great stuff and congratulations on a strong finish! What is the fastest known time?
Thanks! Here is a link to the updated FKTs: bikekatytrail.com/one-day.aspx
@@moveupcycling The Katy is meant to be enjoyed at a slower pace stop and see the sights and learn the history. But I am a cycle tourist anyway I don't get any where very fast on bike I average 8 to 12 miles per hour and that is fast enough for me I love bike packing I love road touring I love just seeing the country. I ride a 21 speed mtn bike as my tour rig. And nashbar panniers.
@@wbuttry1 Some of us like to go fast, while others prefer to take their time. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. Glad you’ve found a passion for touring 👊
I did it on a monocycle but it took me a little longer.
I REALLY did the whole Katy Trail!!! & it takes 6 days!
Wow, you averaged 40 whole miles in a day?! You bad ass! Surely no one could do it faster than such an elite athlete as yourself… Get a life, and a coach. Maybe even a life coach before you show your ass on a public forum again.
That’s the advantage to ride with a group that knows how ride in a group
What do you recommend eating at each stop?
Each rider had a unique nutrition strategy that they've honed in with a lot of trial and error. None of them really ate the same things at each stop but in general a large variety of easily digested carbohydrates in the form of sports drinks, gels, bars, and whole foods (dried fruits, fig bars, mini sandwiches).
food
What are the names and ages of the rider? Any plans to try it again?
I’ve actually listed the names and links to their Strava data in the comments section. Ages ranged from 40-50. No plans to try again. Maybe if somebody takes the record we’ll get motivated to organize another attempt ;)
What was the tire choice for this ride? Thanks
Most of the riders were on Panaracer Gravel King Slicks. Any width will work for the KT, but 35-38mm is the sweet spot.

Gravel or road bikes?
Gravel bikes.
LOL
It takes 6 days to do this not one LOL
Well, did you at least try to enjoy the beauty around you? Might as well ride on a machine in your garage.
I’m curious as to why someone would take the time out of their day to put down someone else’s fun. Do people post negative comments on your rides because you just piddle along? How about you enjoy riding the way you like and let others do the same.
Pretty sure they looked like they had a blast doing this. Ever challenge yourself? Ever think that maybe they could ride it another time at a relaxed pace?
That one guy is drinking a coke. Caffeine depletes water in the system causing dehydration.
Looks like it worked out...I won a 10 mile mountain trail race (running) on a KitKat and a Mtn. Dew. Sometimes your body tells you very precisely what it wants.
@@renegadetenor that makes no sense. It's a fact that caffeine depletes H2O. I am a former athlete and I still work out and ride my bike long distance overnight rides. I have no idea what you're taliking about a 10 mile trail race is nothing. 10 miles is nothing!!!!!
@@kenmcdaniel6913 just sharing my experience..do what you will, I don't even think its a worthy topic...but it makes perfect sense.
@@renegadetenor if itt's not a worthy topic why chime in. What you're saying about sometimes the body knows what it wants makes no sense. The body needs and wants water not caffeine!!!!!!
@@kenmcdaniel6913 You're a dork. You really think he drank Coke the whole time? And don't tell me what MY experience has been...you weren't there.
Nice Try, BROS, no 1 is buying it
