The worst thing about this movie is the “are you lost, baby girl,” because I call my partner that (not in a sexualized manner) along with other nicknames like “baby” or “honey”. Later I asked her if it made her feel uncomfortable (because I felt uncomfortable when he called the girl that), and thankfully she said no and that she liked it.
I think it stems more from the dude being a complete stranger and calling a random girl “baby girl” while also trying to be sexy saying it. He made me feel like I was being sexually assaulted so that’s just great….

I'm a fan of horror movies but in horror the killer is meant to be a bad guy, they don't show him/her as someone who should be seen as attractive, these films never normalise his/her actions, it's meant to show how demented and vile people are.
The real craziness starts when a person is so crazy that they think this is normal. People who see this as a romantic film are crazy to me.

Interesting fact about the author of the book: She claims, that she is a FEMINIST, but modern. She also said, that 15% of the story in the book is fiction, and the rest is true - It’s a combo of experiences of her, her friends and family. It is honestly worrying.

@@simonsays5193 The comment about her claiming she's a feminist is pointing out how ironic her statements are, because the things she writes seem to contradict what feminists stand for. A person can claim to be any number of things, while being far from it. A cruel person can say they are kind. A racist person can claim to be all for diversity! It doesn't mean their behavior matches what they claim to be. Your comment says a lot about your bias against feminists (which btw the movement at its core is about equality for women all over the world so i don't really know what you personally have against it but ok) but unfortunately the authors contradicting behavior as well as this person's initial comment do not stand to say much of anything about feminists as a whole, except to prove that any person can grossly misrepresent an entire movement/belief system. Just how looters undermine peaceful protests, some self-proclaimed feminists warp the message of what feminism should be but they do not make up the whole. It's sad that so many people vilify feminists when the definition of feminism is literally "the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes." It's not one sex versus the other, it's about equality for both. When equality exists in the world, feminism will no longer be necessary. And those who want to use the idea of feminism unjustly to sow discord will have to call themselves something else. If and when that happens, I hope you will recognize those individual people as the ones who are problematic.

You know what I would love? A movie exactly like this, but just before the plot kicks in they show the female love interest with a caring, supportive partner who deeply loves her.
Then this exact plot happens, but the entire time it repeatedly cuts away to her partner sailing across the country and taking down henchmen on their way to save their girlfriend/wife, meanwhile she is NOT falling in love with the creepy dude and continues to plot against him.
The climax of the movie is her and the love of her life kicking his ass and escaping to continue to live their happy future together. I'll direct it, write it, and shoot it myself if necessary just please no more lost baby gorls

Unfortunately, the movie is not unrealistic in this regard, most women would indeed fall in love in this situation. It's gender psychology, women seek powerful, high status men, and are more than willing to be treated badly and humiliated, if need be. You can actually see it all around you. It's even a well known phrase, girls love bad boys.

I kind of want to see a story where it starts off as some stereotypical bad romance story like Fifty Shades of Gray or 365 days and they convince you it's just some bad erotica romantizing kidnapping and then in the middle of the book, it suddenly becames an entire thriller/horror book where the girl is trying to escape the toxic relationship.

A lot of people think it’s okay to hurt and kill women. Men and children, no. But they don’t care about women. That’s a common belief, especially in America. Crimes against women largely go unsolved. If they are solved, they are covered up and no one is punished. There are a lot of murders that go uncharged because it’s cops killing their girlfriends and wives.

I'm Polish, and she actually got a LOT of backlash. Like, there was a whole thing where she got called out for writing the flight attendant getting raped and Lipińska (i hope i remembered her name lmao) went, oh, no, if it was REALLY rape, she'd have fought back, teehee, you know nothing about women. And then the weird conservatives picked it up like 'those weird feminists don't understand women' and it became an all out media shit storm back and forth over just that one scene...

I'm guessing it's because the assaults was only groping and threats rather than full on rape, unlike the attendant. Also when they finally had sex it was "consensual" , you know, as consensual as it could get in such a fucked situation... So the attendant was a stronger argument.

this franchise gets so much worse when you go into what the author of the books has to say about them... basically praising herself for delivering a story everyone dreamed of, denying there was any assault in the books, saying the book is about feminism- oh and she explicitly stated that Laura is her self-insert, because a writer cannot write about something they never lived through, and the contents of this book are 90% true, and 10% fiction.
