    Namjoon is a genius for portraying the standards that are pushed upon society, to have a wife and kids, to live in a polished house, the juxtaposition of his chill hangouts with his friends to the life he's "supposed" to have,

    It's kind funny seeing people who never heard mono saying they never expected a song like this. This is totally Namjoon. He is a full lenght artist, thats why he changed his stage name from Rap Monster to RM. He isnt only a rapper. He is a great rapper but he can do so many things, including a genre like this.

    Running through the maze, he cannot seem to open one door, a door that might symbolize his self-awareness and acceptance. Until he chance upon Minha, his other self. As you may notice in a few parts of the music video, Minha was running through the maze looking for Namjoon. Until it transitions that Namjoon becomes her.

    Actually, this is an alternative genre or categorized as indie pop, not kpop. It’s all in English except for one line. I was not that surprised by the style, because he quite often share what he’s listening to on his IG, and a lot of it is indie or non mainstream music that most people might not know. I love that he is expressing this side of him musically and as a poet for his solo. I love it. The style actually reminds me of Pharrell’s old music, which he’s a fan. Not only that, RM and Pharrell got to interview each other for Rolling Stone. It’s actually on CZcams, and they talk about songwriting/making music.

    They worked so hard before entering military service. Welcome to the world of our guys. They are on “hiatus”…. We say this is the least “hiatus-y” hiatus that ever hiatused.

    RM has spoken about the idea that the constellation of who he is includes the bad and his mistakes along with all the good things. When examines his past, present, and future, I think he sees that his bumpy journey ultimately will leave him in a good place. As the song proceeds, there is a transition to reflecting on the positive and him finding himself in finding peace in his being which means he has the ability to evaluate his entirety being a positive light. He can open the door. He accepts that his passage through time does not involve rejecting memories that are less than flattering to his ego. The studio compartments on the other side of the door represents how he now can accept all aspects of his journey.

    The song actually dropped on May 10 but I think the date on the video is when it was finished by editors because RM has been in the military since December 2023 so he couldn't have still been filming in March.

      Yes. They had to pre- record everything released while they are enlisted. They cannot do outside work when enlisted but can make $ from pre-recorded material. 💜

    We know that RM has read the book "The Magic Library" by Matt Haig because (and a couple of the other members) were reading it during the filming of "In the Soop 2." That book has a storyline about exploring possible different lives one could lead. I think this shows that a person can be happy in any of those lives, and *possibly* the determining factor is self-awareness, or maybe acceptance of the different facets of ourselves?

    The possession , use and/or sale of drugs including Marijuana is severely punished in South Korea. Careers are destroyed with even unproven allegations of drug use. If a Korean uses drugs in another country where it is legal and it becomes known when they return to South Korea, they are arrested. I say thus because it is nit a joking matter for Koreans home or abroad.

  • @OT7_DopeOldARMY
    @OT7_DopeOldARMY Před 18 dny +6

    For the record, it is VERY, VERY illegal to do any type of illicit drug in South Korea. Not only can they not do any drugs (including marijuana) within Korea or be jailed, but they can also be jailed for doing drugs outside of Korea. Moreover, the mere whisper of an allegation of doing drugs can (and has) destroy(ed) more than one celebrity's career.

      And an artist that is caught/jailed by using drugs can never perform again in the Industry, is banned for life.

    Love this. Like BTS led the way to show a group of artists, industry outsiders can do the impossible and make it big not obeying the rules. RM proves you dont have to sell out. You can be the artist you want. MY THEORY in RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. His first self titled mix tape the track DO YOU( the song that says clearly he refuses to be labelled or boxed into any genre). He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around depressed confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self, and he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( his other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?

    RM always spoke of diff multiverses along with society’s expectations of how one lives his life. Some of those could have actually happened or can happen? I think the girl in grey where he went out of the door with…I think it’s his muse or could be Army….they both take a deep breath and go out the door to face the other situations where they will be entering new places/experiences. Just my thoughts 🤭. Thank you smch for reacting and really appreciate sharing your personal thoughts abt it. It’s such a chill vibe w/c I can play a lot.

    He's not high. Weed is just not a thing in South Korea. Yes, yes, it exists there. But the members of BTS are just not stupid enough to go to jail for it. It's very, very illegal. It would be a career ending event. Just the rumor of smoking weed has ended careers. I'm not being a prude this is really how it is there.
    Recently a top tier star (Yoo Ah-in) was almost entirely edited out of a 16-episode drama airing right now on Netflix. He was the main star in the leading role and they just erased him because of a minor pot-smoking/prescription drug scandal. He was led into court in front of cameras bound by ropes, and people threw bottles and cans and garbage at him. The day before he was a major, beloved, award-winning celebrity.
    And unlike our country, the laws of Korea follow the citizens wherever they go. It's still a major crime to smoke in a country where it's legal. Same with gambling. It's a crime in Korea, and a crime for a Korean visiting Las Vegas.
