- What happened to Timofey Mozgov? Where is he now? Mozgov won a championship alongside LeBron James with the Cavaliers and cashed in big time with the Los Angeles Lakers. His downfall was even quicker than his rise though - Mozgov is out of the NBA altogether today and may be retiring from professional basketball soon in Russia. His story explains the modern NBA and what many players like him have experienced over the last 5 to 10 years.

He got his ring and got paid.
That’s called SUCCESS.
Damn right 👊🏼
Exactly
jup, he got 64mil but doesn't have to put body through 82 games.
e3erockstar08 exactly, he won in the game of life
Patrick Mccaw is the GOAT first 2 seasons got a ring in two different teams. so wherever he goes it's a guaranteed championship ring
93 points and 29 rebounds that’s some Chamberlain glitching there
Awesome content btw you need more subs
Byron Devene Thanks man!! Did I say 93 points somewhere in there? 😬
A.M. Hoops Nah it’s at 2:26 don’t worry it’s the footage’s fault
@@byrondevene2323 Oh, that's hilarious - I didn't even see that, HA!
@@AMHoops no u said it right. Do ya thang man. Good vid. I like to hear about the players many microwave minds forget.
awesome i didnt hear he broke kobe 81points
More Championships then Westbrook, Harden, Carmelo, Chris Paul, The Brow, and Paul George!!!
Combined !
Goat Mozgov
Dont forget to include lilliard.
AI too
But he's still not a better player so stop commenting bullshit
Guy is still getting paid 5.5m a season until 2022 :)))))
Why do teams still pay if ur not playing?
Because a deal is a deal maybe?
@@thehari75 He had guaranteed money on his contract
@@iTsJoshTV then why doesn't he have to play?
@@j.dragon651 it depends on the team if they want him to play lol
It seems like being unathletic due to injury ruined Mozgov’s career. You don’t have to shoot 3s to be a modern center. You just have to be able to protect the rim, set strong screens and be able to catch lobs.
like Dwight and JAVAAAAALE MCGEEE
@@KobeBryantt237 true
Basically Rudy Gobert. 3 Peat for DPOTY and leading the Jazz on the league’s best win stretch right now. 11 of the last 13.
@@DangerousDevilOfficial and this year how he got abused by the clippers guards basically made the DPOY x3 a joke
@@dbabu51 it isn’t up to him to guard the entire team! We had guys not stepping up on defense and boxing out on the three. Forcing Rudy to leave the hoop, rotate on guys he didn’t normally play and then being burned. We got rid of multiple guys. And shored up our team this off-season. It should help. But we still need that parameter defense we were lacking from the majority of the rest of the team. Outside of O Neal.
Kupchak didn't draft Kobe. Charlotte drafted Kobe, Lakers GM Jerry West traded Vlade Divac to Charlotte for Kobe. Jerry West was also the GM who signed Shaq as a free Agent. your video has lots of errors.
Thanks for the comment Kent. I appreciate you keeping me honest.
Yep , HS phenom kobe was drafted by the Hornets kobe 13th overall pick of 96 class then traded to the Lakers for veteran center Vlade Divac
Charlotte drafted Kobe with a deal already in place to trade for blade so technically your right but a deal was already in place.
Jerry west GM GOAT
@@the_auditor1017 Logo
He's Finals champ and bagged that $64M deal.. couldnt ask for more
Damn sure couldn't
He only made 71 mil in his entire career. There was no 64 mil contract
because in the middle of his deal he went out of the NBA or in other words got waived. I think there is a rule that in some cases u don't gotta pay a player that u waive after.
@@candycerynee6802still that a lot of money
@Willie Gordon how come it not a lot for the professional athletes? It enough to last you decade if you spend the money right
He got a ring with one of the greatest players to ever played and got paid good money.
Long story short: Lebron has gotten a lot of scrubs paid over the course of his career
Nah he balled out the first year they went to the Finals since it was basically only LBJ, Delly and him. But after Blatt got fired and they played more small ball to keep up with the Warriors, he basically was fazed out
Ruined alot of careers too
Fuck LeBron
Lebron is a fraud
Shocker Smooth and who’re you again? Atleast Lebron is an actual decent human being unlike jackass alcoholic Jordan
I think it's necessary to point out just how good Mozgov was with the Cavaliers during that first season with them. You mention that he started all six finals games but didn't talk much about how good he actually was. And he went above and beyond expectations that season. His scoring average that season went up by two points and he shot almost 10% better from the floor (59%, which is absurd). Why is that note worthy? He was brought in to help clog the paint on the defensive end, but ended up being a consistent scoring option in a starting line up featuring Kyrie Irving, JR Smith, LeBron James and Kevin Love. That's insane.
Another thing I feel you need to mention in regards to him not playing much in 2016: he wasn't playing a lot even when Blatt was still their coach. The reason his playing time disappeared was because he had knee surgery in the offseason and missed the entire pre-season. As a result, he wasn't able to get into the playing shape he needed to be in. And thus, his on court quality play was significantly worse. At the height of his career, he was a legitimately great fifth scoring option and defensive presence for a title contender. And I wish you could have pointed that out better. Thanks.
That was a badass report on Mosgov, I really enjoyed watching him in his prime! Great job AM Hoops!!!!
mozgov is probably sitting right now enjoying his life and drinking vodka.
Lol

the video we didn't know we needed. nice work
thank you for this update sir..
This was a very nice video though thanks man 👍
everyone loved this dude in cleveland. MozGOD will always be remembered
The only reason he was playing so much in the 2015 Finals is due to everyone on the Cavs roster being hurt.
Love Irving Thompson all were injured during that Finals.
Moz role was to give rest to TT from the jump.
He was a role player who lost his role when the league changed.
Smart comment. Thanks for watching Brandon
@@AMHoops
Anytime brother.
And thanks for the awesome content.
Thompson played in that whole series. But still a good point.
@@BigBrandonMarcel He was the starting center at that point. But in 2016 tristan take over it. Thats why hes playing more minutes. And btw tristan is not injured.
Wrong, he actually was a good player that was until he got a leg injury. That was the decline of his career. Still frustrates me because he is my favorite NBA player, Second being Kobe or LeBron.
Great video! Nice energy!
You deserves 100k subs. very nice content. good job
Thirdy Delos Santos Wow!! Thank you so much for the compliment- I appreciate the support.
Good luck buddy I hope things get better for you
I like how you got straight to the point and you didn't try to stretch the content by adding too many details about his bio...subscribed !
Thanks - I appreciate the feedback. I’ll keep that in mind for future videos as well 👊🏼

Idk why everyone's hating on the guy, basically played his final nba years with knee problems, there are ppl who would have given up then and then.
As Lithuanian, I am still hopeful for JV to stay relevant in the NBA, especially seeing how Sabonis is blossoming
Respect to the basketball nation of Lithuania, for real
Just found your channel. Love it

Very good video, great job
Great drop...kinda forgot about homie and wondered what happened to him. Need more subs asap
Thank you! I appreciate the support 👊🏼
Been watching your videos. I'm a big Pacers fan and your trade Oladipo or Myles Turner video popped up on my recommendations list. After watching this, I think it's clear who we need to trade and I've been saying it for the past 4 seasons. Turner and Mozgov are obviously different players at different times. But I think Turner still plays old school center ball but is athletic enough to keep up and play great defense. I don't think Turner will be any better than he is right now though. We're still pretty early in the Oladipo experiment and I think with good signings and trading Myles we could be in a good position in the East. Also think Brogdon will continue to bloom along with our young core and experienced vets we can come out of the East. I am very curious to see how well Kyrie and KD will blend in Brooklyn. Anyways, keep up the good work and as a new subscriber I'll be looking forward to new content!
Subbed because of awesome content.
Thanks Jake!! Much appreciated 👊🏼
This was really good. Just subbed and hope to see some videos on players such as JoJo English and Ron Mercer!
I've always liked and love watching him when he was on the cavs. He was a solid player all around.
Very well done. Nice presentation and great information. Keep it up bro, as everyone else says - you deserve FAR more subs than you currently have. Gained one from me though
Damn Austin, thank you man. MUCH appreciated 👊🏼
shout out bro from new here from phillippines
It's amazing how quickly we forget these players once we no longer see them on TV. Seems like only yesterday he was THE big man on the Cavs, and had the world at his feet. I just hope he banked some of that Ca$h 😂😂
Hell just 10 years ago it was Ilgauskas. NBA keeps evolving. If you have love for the game you never truly forget these players tho
2:28 woooooot 93pts and 29rbs
great my friend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New subscriberrr love; your content!!
Subed 👍 great content
I mean he had a great career. Should be happy with the long accomplished career. Plenty of accolades, man had a great nba life. Respect
Crazy I remember him being such a force
In 2015 finals and then after that if you weren’t a big with a little range you basically got pushed o. Of meaningful rotations
I legit thought the subscribe count said 2.99 million! Not thousand lol. This video was so we'll made I'm impressed keep it up!
jj aa Haha!! I wish 😂 that’s hilarious
Puberty hits hard man, don’t know what else to say.
You can't make such a simplistic comparison with Mozgoat and Brook Lopez. Brook was the best mid range shooting big man (besides LMA or KAT/AD) and his transition into shooting threes wasn't that big of a jump. Timofey was proficient around the paint but he could also step outside and knock down open jumpers around the 17ft distance at a respectable clip.
Smart comment. Thanks for watching 👊🏼
Man amazing content from this channel definitely underrated
93 points, 29 boards, and 3 blocks? I'm not surprised he eventually won a championship. 2nd greatest game played ever. 93 points off 10/15 shooting is amazing.
@@usinipigiekakablacklivesma4229 have you ever heard of sarcasm? Simeon clearly has I don't know how you didn't catch that .... Even the fact he put 10/15 just in case someone didn't understand his sarcastic post. Sheeesh lol

yeah this was way back when they had the 9 point shot.
I was a fan of him when he was with the cavs. I always like those guys that hustle like hell. Never take a play off on both sides of the ball.
mosgov is basically lightning mcqueen in cars 3
Carter Flaer precisely

Well howard still there banging this modern NBA
Howard isn't your average throwback center, him DeAndre and McGee are in their own category.

If you're curious, Timofey returned tonight after 1015 days. He last played for Russian national team in 2018.
2:30 that stat line is untouchable
Bro I saw it and I was like whattttt 93 points jajaja but 10/15 thats from another world lol
God status greatest player ever
Hitmanhooks99 not even close
At least he did something with his life and made something out of himself! Unfortunately teams and coaches didn't really give him many opportunities to fit in. I'm glad he got his NBA championship ring before he got out of there!
There was a mistake in this video. You said he scored 23 pts and grabbed 29 boards, but he actually dropped 93 on the warriors. GOAT!
He didn’t tho
This is a sad story that made me cry 😭
28 points and 10 rebounds, is a lot of help in a finals game. 23 points and 29 rebounds in a regular game vs. Golden st. shows he had all star potential before he got he knee messed
Nice video bro! Respect from Russia;)
Thank you!!!
This may sound silly but I’m a moderate nba fan nothing fanatical, but I went to a Cavs vs pistons game in 16’ and seeing how athletic this guy was just in warm ups amazed me. At the time it was right before the Cavs fired their coach and he was still getting a lot of minutes. So I got to see him play a lot and it always confused me as to why a guy that offered so much athleticism down low continued to see his minutes cut the further down the season they went.
Thanks for the insight! Great comment.
I love this guy💕timofey"the russian tower"/"timo" Mozgov
Man call’s Timo’s career a fast rise then literally tells a story of his 5 years of eventual growth in the NBA, Olympic bronze and all that prior to joining Cavs and losing a finals with them before winning a chip. And that is without counting his Khimki years. That’s not really fast, buddy.
It's a minor point, but you give Mitch Kupchak too much credit for those trades. Mitch was only the assistant GM at the time. It was Jerry West, not Mitch, that cleared the cap space and engineered that blockbuster trade/acquisition of Kobe and Shaq.
Daniel T Great point Daniel, thanks for the comment. I appreciate that, makes me try harder on future videos 👊🏼
I like this guy. He was a huge factor, contributed immensely to the Cavs championship
Trash player carried by Lebron and the refs
No arguing that the NBA Center has evolved to smaller guys to stretch the floor, especially with 3 point shooting. But my home town Center Rudy Gobert is an example of old school center DOMINATING the league.
This should be his third year as Defensive Player Of The Year. And he has no 3 Point game at all. And even his midrange shot is barely there. But his hoop defense, rebounding and hoop offense are some of the best for a guy his size in the last decade!
So saying old school center play is entirely gone is not accurate.... 💯💯💯💯
Rudy Gobert, DeAndre Jordan, Steven Adams. 97% gone.
do a video on jonas valanciunas also european old school center who's trying o evolve his game for the modern NBA
Just subsribed new fan here on this channel congratulations
Thanks Shannon!! Much appreciated 🙌🏼
He just got older. Even with the game changing. The team who is unafraid to put two talented back to the basket bigs on the floor and some great role players will reverse the trend. Water was a weapon , then we found fire, then we found the tsunami. The man unafraid to be different will prevail. The warriors played that style, then everyone did. Ironically the cavs team was diff and won. It took them adding kd and making a ridiculous team to beat lebron. The warriors would have never won again otherwise. Everyone trying to copy g.s. is what hindered growth in the nba
When I opened the video I thought you will talk about done drugs addiction issues or some bet problems that cause his downfall.
But all you have mentioned , are things we already know
so close to topping Wilt Chamberlain 93 points 29 rebounds 2:23
At least he got paid!!! I know that was his passion, 🏀 but he’s a champion. It’s sucks how it ended, but he did his thing to the best of his ability.
Agreed - hard to feel bad for him, he lived the basketball dream. The 🏆 + the 💰
Great career cut short by a terrible knee injury. He was really a good center overall. Too bad he "retired" at the age of 30. Props to him for not giving up. Maybe if his knee is finally better he can still show us his skills for another few years in Russia. Athletes who come back after years of remediating their almost career ending injury tend to be able to play professional sports at higher ages thanks to the rest their bodies had compared to people who never stopped.
Miss you TM💜#2016CAVS

ONE CHAMPION RING... you can’t go wrong with that..way way better than other nba players
The NBA sometimes destroys players .
93 points , 29 rebounds? Freaking beast

Didn't know Pedro Pascal played in the NBA.
Mosgov is good..he came in the league got paid and won a Championship..while many players who's in the league for a min got broke and still dont got a ring!..cudos Mosgov!
He’s on the Orlando Magic
Randomly saw him putting up shots at my gym in LA this week. At one point he hit 25 threes in a row which just goes to show how good NBA players are who were terrible shooters by league standards.
My eye popped off when i see 93points.
