  • Chokin (engraving) is a traditional Japanese technique of creating shapes and patterns by engraving and hammering out base metal.
In ancient times, it was used to decorate sword tsubas, and in modern times, it has been used to decorate obi clasps and tea ceremony utensils.
His technique of creating three-dimensional works from a single piece of base metal is truly a super technique.
As he explained his work to us, we could not help but wonder how he was able to create such a three-dimensional form from a single piece of plate.
He collaborated with Pokemon at the "Pokemon x Crafts Exhibition: Discovery of Beauty and Techniques.
"Umbreon," "Lugia," and "Ho-oh," which he created using his engraving techniques, were on display.
