R is hard even for native speakers. Grew up in the US, English is only language I speak, and spent years in speech therapy learning to properly pronounce R sounds
it's called a soft r, when it doesn't have a vowel after it, some accents (like british) don't pronouce it at all. Even standard american has a slight difference in pronunciation With "ronnie" it's a hard r so you pronounce it.
