Knowing that always made me feel even worse for Sasakibe. Like he finally had a reason/chance to use his bankai and show why he’s the right hand man of Yama but he gets cheesed and killed
@@Esconico. That was his own fault. The less you use your Bankai, the less efficient it will be. Especially when he didn't use it for 2000 years, he lacked the combat experience worth of 2000 years for not using it.

In fact, the battle of Kenpachi against those 3 guys is longer here, they were only 1 small panel in the manga (you couldn't even see their entire bodies). The scene of the flashback is longer too. (they didn't show Sasakibe's Bankai attack itself in the manga). They added some more attacks of Byakuya but removed a minor dialogue of Yhwach talking about how Byakuya was defeated. For me, the episode was amazing and better than the source material.
There's a scene when Yamamoto is in his office and seen the flash of lightning. He says "that was Sasakibe's..." then Ludis and his crew appeared in front of him declaring war.

The animators, voice actors, the composers, the storyboarding, direction and adaption of source material from the manga is phenomenal, bleach tybw should be an inspiration on how to bring an anime back, or to remake an anime itself, this is how you do it

The adaptation is amazing, the music is on point, art on point, it perfectly captured the feeling I had when I read these chapters for the first time and saw Yama coming furious on the battlefield with an unforgettable atmosphere. Sasakibe's scenes were even more satisfying to watch in the anime than in the manga, even though there weren't many changes.
But Zaraki vs Yhwach shouldn't be off screen. It was one of the things we manga readers wanted to be different.
So far it's going exactly like in the manga, including the part with kenpachi, they only showed the flashbacks of the fight to show how much of a monster and a threat kenpachi is to the quincies. And in the first episode we are able to see for a second the lightning of chojiro's bankai before he got hit by that arrow. Man this adaptation is just fkn perfect i'm loving every second of it
You talking about As Nodt’s dialogue about fear is something that makes the Sternritters so interesting to me. They’re all lettered and so far we’ve seen a few of them now but only know a few of their meanings (F, O, Q, R, and Y) what do you think the rest may be?

The adaption is extremely good, but they are cutting certain scenes short (eg. a captain meeting earlier to plan who goes where for the start of the war) to accelerate the pace of this section of the arc. This is good news, as it likely means that they will be expanding a few scenes from the latter half of the arc, which were rushed due to the publishing schedule. Also, one IMPORTANT thing to note is that you missed a key scene after the credits. Go back and watch it, or the start of the next episode will be confusing.

It's a good use of story telling by showing, with the Head Captain. The first few episodes they are invading, he's just standing there, seemingly doing nothing. He was searching for the person with the Spiritual Pressure that he felt, when Chojiro was killed.
8:36 for those that watched the zanpakto filler arc, that sternritter reminds me of Ikkaku's hozukimaru from the face a little

And honestly, I feel like the season’s been a little fast-paced. I wouldn’t say rushed, but the episodes have been flying by where I’ve felt like something was missing, but this episode…best by far. Next is the moment I’ve been waiting for (see excitement above).
Fun fact: sasakibe’s zanpakuto being lightning was shown in the anime in filler arc called zanpakuto and it was his zanpakuto spirit that used it not him

This episode is what really started showing me as a manga reader that the team working on this alongside Kubo were the right choices. The fact that we finally found out who bodied Rukia, the extension of Kenpachi’s fights, and the entirely new flashback to actually seeing Chojiro using his bankai and finally seeing what it was supposed to do. Absolutely phenomenal and the animation is just 🤌🏻
I wish people would have let you know that there was end credit scene in this ep... because it's pretty CRAZY one to end on.

I don't understand why they put that scene post credits. It's an honest mistake for a large majority of people to miss it because they often just stop watching when credits start.

In the manga he said "The man you failed to kill a thousand years ago"
As the quincys declared war, right after yamamoto said "whats that sasakibe's?" This was the moment he used his Bankai. You even saw the yellow light in the distants.
Absolutely insane as a manga reader it’s 10/10 🔥 , but remember we are only at eps 5 … goosebumps !
You can see him using his bankai before the quincy appeared on Yamamoto's chamber. You can see the sky turning yellow and Yamamoto noticed it. In the Manga, they didn't have that small scene and we all assumed first that their enemies wear hollow mask, can down quincy bow and use a bankai.
This a couple months late but the pure hype an adrenaline the final half of this episode gave me was like no other

Driscoll the Overkill got Sasakibe bankai in episode 1 it was the gold flash u saw when we first saw Yamamoto. in this episode they finally showed what the bankai was

This episode was nothing short of a masterpiece and reminded me of why I love 🔥BLEACH🔥
The Straight to the point action, OST Soundtrack, mature characterization, backstory, art style/aesthetic/atmosphere and even the best possible cliffhanger. The anime has finally surpassed the manga and will continue to do so for at least the rest of this cour (8 eps left).
Next EP should Bring the fluid animation and be anime fight/battle episode of the year, Brace yourselves for the the 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 And most of all remember, keep in mind he’s only fighting with one hand just like Kenpachi without Kendo as his power is literally cut in half since their Reiatsu/spiritual pressure comes from both of a soul reapers wrists like Kisuke said in Ep 300 of OG Bleach.
Yamamoto's Lt. lost his Bankai when they invaded on Day 1. While he was impaled to the wall by the giant spear in the Cpt Comm's office. The last thing he said was "they can steal our Bankai"

As someone who watched the big 3 when they were airing, I loved the bleach manga more than the anime itself, I hated it for the censorship, filler and added in comedy/childish scenes in the ORIGINAL anime, however as for the TYBW ARC, this is the first time bleach is technically being adapted faithfully as an anime, I'm literally in tears of joy, can't wait for more episodes

I can really sympathize. I also think comedy and childish scenes are garbage that destroys the atmosphere of the work, old anime had it for broadcasting reasons and I hated that scene. This time the real BLEACH is back

He did use his bankai against him, if you remember right before the Quincy first showed up in Yamamoto's office Yama says " that was Sasakibe's" and you can see a yellow flash.
As a Manga reader it’s really good. Especially lots of actually panels get to be cool slow motion pics and what not. Such as when they show all the captains fighting in the past few episodes. Also much love ❤ God bless u

As a manga reader for the most part it's been excellent from voice acting, in particular Yama and As Nodt's (sternritter F's) voice have been amazing. I was worried that As Nodt's voice actor in particular wouldn't live up to the creepiness that is his character's aesthetic. The animation has been out of this world, i feel like i'm watching a movie every week, which to me is exactly what this body of work deserved, even though it's said Kubo was rushed. It is still top tier Manga content. The fact that they're *not* censoring much as well has been so good. Bleach was always meant to be dark, and allowing the anime to make that transition to the darker side of things is really making it that much more impactful.
It's been extremely extremely close to the Manga so far. There's been a few conversations cut out; and a few translations have been slightly off. I'm extremely happy with it and I am **thoroughly enjoying** watching anime only watchers react to the content because it's super nostalgic, i remember losing my mind during the beginning of this arc like a lot of ya'll are too.
One scene that they cut out from the manga was the fact that, when it came to embedding that communication sword on Shunsui’s end.
His opponent Robert Accutrone shot dead the messenger before they could send the sword his way, so he’s pretty much the only captain out of the loop.

Also, Sasakibe- Yamas Lieutenant, used his bankai off screen, Before they break into Yamamotos office, Yama says something along the lines of , "thats Sasakibes..." Then they blast and enter Yamas office.
So far this is a very solid adapation
I have to imagine they'll open with the post-credit scene next week anyways but yea I'm not going to be surprised if a lot of people miss it.
That monologue Yamamoto gives during the flashback about Sasakibe? That was a speech Byakuya gave to Renji during Sasakibe's funeral in the manga. They relocated it and changed who gives the speech. It honestly gave me goosebumps, cause it went from just exposition to an actual homage. Respect man.
That’s what’s so disrespectful. The Sternritter don’t need to steal their Bankai to beat them. They are powerful enough to fight the Gotei 13 on their own. They’re stealing their Bankai and defeating them with it as a way to truly disrespect the Captains. It’s dirty as fuck.
You need to rewatch ep 1 or 2 when sasakibe got killed. Yamamoto notice the yellow lightning at his office before one of his men came to report but got beheaded. The yellow flash was the moment Sasakibe used his bankai before got stab through the chest.
kenpachi really saved us from an episode monologue about my mans power just ripped his throat out and kept it pushing.

I’m a manga reader. Most important points from the manga that couldn’t be elaborated on is being shown in the anime, which is excellent.
As a manga reader I feel the anime is doing great, I feel like its missing some dialogue but that's fine. Also the manga says that Yamamoto "did not kill" not "couldn't kill" , also the bankai was stolen just before he got killed. If you watch ep 1 again it shows that Yamamoto notice the bankai being used

You know what's crazy is back in episode two when they were doing sasakibes funeral, I thought it was a lil disrespectful of the anime to cut from his funeral pyre to the stove top cooking Ramen. But this episode THIS EPISODE he "finally got a proper send off" and it makes me excited to watch and rewatch to catch little things like that which may have more meaning going forward. This episode was INSANE

if you remember that scene when yamamoto was in his office, he saw a litghining outside right before they poped in his office, and he said that's sasakibe, which means he was fighting outside and used his bankai and they stole it and then they throw him from outside right in yamamoto's office later on
if u pay attention in ep1 u could see a glimpse of yellow lightning which is sasakibes bankai being used
The animation follow the manga very accurately.
The old anime had the full to be full year around so they had to pace things to not catch up the manga.
Now the anime follows exactly the manga pace and that's ammazing.

in episode 1 of the arc sasakibe uses his bankai. yamamoto says something like " thats sasakibe's ..."

Watch the part in episode 1 again where Yamamoto sees a flash of yellow illuminate his office and he says "That's Sasakibe's lightning". Chojiro Sasakibe did use his bankai against Driscoll, and Driscoll uses the medallion to steal it and then kills Chojiro with his Quincy spear.

sasakibe's bankai stolen is the same case like byakuya in this episode, first they took his bankai and then kill it, if you go back to episode 1 there is gold light shine and yammamoto is say that's sasakibe... , but the rebbel army is already at yamamoto's office and kill one people.
This is pretty verbatim to the Manga. It's been like 10 years since I read it but pretty accurate. I forgot they could use the stolen bankai. Also head captains right hand had his bankai stolen in an off camera fight before he got killed. Fight wasn't shown in the Manga as well I believe

The anime is doing the manga SOOO much justice. IMHO this is THE BEST Bleach arc and it is only gonna get better 😁
Adaptation wise, there are things that are actually more gruesome then the manga, which is wild.
Previous episode when Urahara when he shot Quilge, it actually doesnt pop a hole in him while the anime made it blast chunks outta him. which is awesome. Also some of the humour is being cut out, which is nice and keeps it the atmosphere wild. What is to come, oh man its gonna get wild.

Ok, I will apologise beforehand for the (probably) lengthy and redundant comment.
I am a reader, and I have been waiting for this since my adolescence and now that I am a grown-ass adult weeb, I am loving this adaptation so much so far. Yes, there have been changes, but they don't bother me as much because they have also expanded on some things, and I really fucking appreciate it all. Especially since you can feel the love, care and passion that everyone involved has for this series. I agree with you, they made Bleach come back with a vengeance, and they aren't playing around. I can't speak for all readers, of course, but I am really satisfied so far.
I will touch on a couple of the things you discussed about. I haven't really scrolled through the comments so I'm sorry if someone else had already touched on it. :)
Yes, Kenpachi's fights were shorts like this in the manga as well. Which is also fine to me, because it implied that those Sternritters weren't much of a problem anyways. The way I saw it, in the manga and in the anime, is that they didn't have much against Kenpachi, since he didn't have a Bankai. His power and strength isn't dependant on it, but on other factors with which those Sternritters couldn't hold against him. So the outcome was pretty obvious to me. Ywach, however, is a different story.
Lieutenant Sasakibe's bankai was stolen before he died. The implications are that he released his bankai when facing Sternritter O, but wasn't able to use it before it got stolen. Sasakibe's backstory with Head Captain Yama was a nice surprise, and I really appreciated it.
All in all, I really loved this episode and enjoyed your reaction and insight to it too. As Nodt is just brilliant -- they captured Sternritter F "The Fear" so well, I just ate it up happily.
