This book along with Starting Strength gave me the tools I was looking for to change my life. I feel confident now going into my 50s I have a solid foundation on which to stand in my fight to stave off death. Thanks for your hard work, guys!
Just got home from seeing my ageing parents and I sure wish I lived closer to help them. Honestly it's depressing seeing them age. The older they get the less they do. I don't think age should ever be an excuse.
I'm a big fan of Sully's and have trained at his gym. I never knew the Andy Baker behind the Barbell Prescription and Starting Strength books was a legit coach in his own right until I heard it on a Barbell Logic podcast a few days ago (CZcams recommendations not doing their job). I'm impressed with depth of knowledge and experience in both books. I refer to both often. BP is very well organized.
This book is also a great guide for the older new-ish lifter who makes it past the novice linear progression, thanks to Andy Baker's experience and advice.
i did get Starting Strengh though im 64,been doing bb training since i was 14. never used drugs. i find the intense workouts of bb , leave me we no energy for anything else, and sore for days
Absolutely not. My oldest client is 89. She started with me at 80. Sully (my co-author) has a few clients in their 90s. I have many many in-person and online clients in their 70s. They're living great fulfilling active lives. email me at kingwoodstrength@gmail.com if you want me to point you in the right direction in terms of coaching, etc.
