8:26 - Beta Ray Bill appears as a helper on the newer versions.
9:00 - I like to bring back obscure characters. Tiger Shark is a Namor enemy and his sprites came from King of Monsters (arcade).
13:17 - Yeah, that was one of my concerns while developing the game - I want each character to be different from the other as much as possible.
13:42 - the fat guy comes from The Hook (Arcade)
14:32 - Fun fact: one of the stages now uses a Dick Tracky music :)
15:47 - Another point I wanted to pay attention to - impact. I want the most cinematic game possible.
16:44 - Scarlet Witch turns weak enemies into itens and such.
16:58 - Miss Hydra (Viper) is one of the bosses on the other route :)
18:54 - The clones fights were reduced: now instead of fighting both Bowman and Hammer, you will fight one of them on that stagem randomly. The next stage now has 2 new bosses.
20:27 - Yes, different routes leads to different stages and bosses. And, on the newer version, unlocks different characters too.
21:37 - I wanted to add some more obscure characters and bosses, instead of the same old hydra enemies of every game. For example, Red Skull WON'T be the last boss (but he will appear)
22:21 - hahaha yes I've mixed Final Fight games there. But you lost the easter egg on that stage...
24:02 - Indeed it was temporary, since the game won't end on that stage with those bosses
24:45 - That was Aurora, Northstar twin brother from Alpha Flight
28:02 - About Beast Bot, Beast had access to Shiar technology on comics.
29:17 - No, the game isn't finished and I still working on it.

Fun bit of trivia: Tigershark has actually come the closest to actually killing Wolverine, by drowning him (healing factor doesn't work to replenish oxygenlessness)

There is something wonderfully charming about a beat 'em up where you take on random, obscure Avengers foes. It feels like actually reading the comics.
THAT was my idea when I included some obscure characters on this game - people who read the comics will recognize most of them.
I don't want to include the same old enemies over and over.
Madame Masque is basically the Iron Man equivalent of Talia al Ghul if Talia al Ghul was a good character.
Madame Masque and The Hood made a good couple back in Dark Reign.
I feel like you reversed those 2.
Matt playing unlicensed fan made fighting/beat ‘em ups has to be my favorite recurring segment! Such a fun time, and these creators are always so good

Thanos, Ultron and Kang are strictly Avengers villains, there's a few more, but those are the most prominent.
Cheetah is cursed into her form, while Tigra had her powers and form given to her by a combination of science and magic.
Wonder Man will be a bigger deal once people see him in MCU as played by Yahya Abdul Mateen II.
Madame Masque is actually in stuff, and pops a lot, if not Iron Man stories, then in cartoons and as a villain to Kate Bishop.
Psylocke hasn't hooked up with Wolverine, but she does love and respect him like how Storm, Rogue, Kitty, and Jubilee do. When Wolverine died, and a few years later, his body was stolen, those women went to Madripoor to track him down.

There was an early GBA title *[X-Men: Reign of Apocalypse]* where Wolverine & some enemies were ripped from; the game is notoriously hard, not for a beginner beat'em up.
@@gamerbear84 I was so peeved, the night I beat it; it was a long car drive with a friend from a hockey tournament, but I had to really focus and beat the game before the batteries died, that I ignored my friend. Felt like shit for beating it😮💨
yes, I got Wolverine from that game and I will use some of Beast sprites from that game too.
@@brazilmugenteam Thank you, the Beast sprite looked like a mix-up of _Reign of Apocalypse/Mutant Apocalypse._ I'm guessing the Agent Brand was a palette swap off a *Rogue* model, (& *Emma Frost* to a lesser extent)

OpenBOR is such a treasure trove of great beat'em ups.
For anyone looking into OpenBOR, I would recommend:
-Final Fight LNS Ultimate (this one is pretty difficult, so be aware)
-Justice League Legacy
-Art of Fighting Trouble in Southtown (considered by many to be THE best OpenBOR game currently released)

So, Cheetah as she appears today is the avatar of an African god of murder, bloodlust, and the hunt. So she's a feline version of The Juggernaut effectively, completely with being that powerful. She's speedbiltzed Flash, teambusted the JLA and even can damage Supes with his durability, and said by The Reverse Flash that her speed and strength are only really limited by her imagination because of how her very magical abilities work.
Meanwhile Tigra is the champion of a group of magically evolved cat people that hide among humanity. She's just a cat person really. Though I think she has low level psychic powers?
So Tigra's a Thundercat, like a female Tigra... the Thundercat.

Some notable Avengers only villains include Grim Reaper who has a giant scythe for a hand that also turns anyone he kills into a zombie, Graviton who can control gravity, and the Elements of Doom who are monsters made up of all the elements. Hopefully they get added to this game if the devs are still working on it.
Grim Reaper for sure since he is Wonderman's brother and he's in the game.
Ultron, Taskmaster and Kang the Conqueror are also good, mainly Avengers foes too.

Two great Madame Masque stories: Hawkeye by Matt Fraction and David Aja where she is a long term antagonist the whole run. Iron Man: Reboot by Brian Bendis and David Marquez where she steals a mask possessed by a demon and Iron Man teams with Dr. Strange to take her out.
we have added an extra stage where her father, County Nefaria, appears before her fight.
I've wanted to see Matt play that Mark Hamill Wolverine game for years. Hopefully he's mentioning it because he's making a video already.
To be fair, Data East's Avengers started out with people like the Living Laser, the Grim Reaper, Klaw (though he gets recognition nowadays thanks to Black Panther) and Whirlwind (who also originally had a stupid name.) Everyone who played that game remembers Whirlwind though.
But then the game gave us Ultron and even Juggernaut.
I'm also thinking of the Spider Man Arcade game, which *started* with Venom and then kept going.
I’ll always remember first seeing the Mandarin in that game because of him yelling “See my powahhhh!” XD

This isn't just one of the best fan-games i've ever played, it's also one of the best games i've played in the last few years. The decision to put lesser-known characters in, thoughtful interpretations of how everyone in the roster should play (no-stunlock + battering ram run Hulk is perfect), sensibly including quite a wide range of playstyles, plus the attention to detail such as different character pallets sometimes having slightly different movesets (silver/mk1 Iron Man is diff from the red/later suits, for example) sets it apart for me.
Additionally, loads of Mugen/OpenBoR/fan games suffer from trying to combine totally different character artwork styles (sometimes including fan-drawn stuff) and while they can play well, the clash is always obvious. However, reducing the sprites to a less detailed style, but with a more consistent common denominator, is genius and perfectly fits the arcade originals aesthetic. Very possibly one of the best fan games ever tbh. Not finished yet either!

I want every piece to have a reason to be there, and not just "the more characters, the better".
And trying to macth the same style (until a certain degree) is something I am focused too.

Dynamo is on my plans for later stages. And the clones battles were reduced - now you will fight new bosses on one of those stages.

It's funny Matt calls many of these villains Z-listers when I know a ton of way, way, WAY more obscure characters. These characters are relatively well known in the Marvel fandom.

Dude, Matt, I know I've been saying it and won't shut up about it, but seriously...I think you may want to consider looking into Magic The Gathering and Wizards Of The Coast/Hasbro. They've gotten to the point where they're sending thugs to peoples' houses to steal Magic product over leaks. It's getting absurd. You've got a gold mine of controversy with these people to dig into if you so feel inclined.

Man even I have issues with Hammer. You could have used Daken or something if you wanted to use a clone. Tactical Force should have 100% been Norman in the Iron Patriot armor.

That stage is a remote Hydra base (the story explains it), so this is why you fight lesser Hydra goons there.

Dont sleep on Tiger Shark...he fucked Wolverine up one time. Took him underwater and jammed his claws into a coral reef and just left his ass there. Logan kept drowning and coming back to life, then drowning again....painful.

Not enough games use sprites from The Punisher for Gen/SNES. This game could have used them, especially the giant robot from the game. Plus it has a classic Nick Fury sprite.

this game does look insanely good and i love how all the protagonists look but man it has such an underwhelming lineup of bosses especially when compared to how insane openBOR infinity war was. the fact later on they just start becoming green palette swaps of the normal avengers is mega lame imo. still looks rly cool
