In this video we are showing you how to access, remove, replace and install new light bulbs in the tail light. This will include the brake light bulb, the turn signal light bulb, the tail light bulb, and reverse light bulb.
It is very simple procedure and it will not take you more than 5 minutes to do it. You will not need any special tools for the job.
Tail and brake light bulbs often go bad and if you want to save you some tickets or pay mechanics to do it, this will be the perfect video for you.

My family and I have been going to AutoZone for our car services for years, and customer service isnt what it used to be. I went to AutoZone and purchased the bulbs to replace my brake light and turning signal, and asked the associate if he could replace the light for me since I haven't done it before, and without hesitation he said he didn't know how to replace it on my car, but if I need to borrow tools they can let me use theirs. maybe because left turns usually take longer? ie oncoming traffic, light blinks longer vs a right turn

Great video. My son is at college and called telling me his signals were blinking fast. I told him that means one bulb is out. He verified it was the left rear. Very helpful and quick. Just got it done on my 09 fusion in about 5 minutes! Thanks. And the trim is pretty easy if you only have to replace one side, just pop the two buttons on the trim you want to replace and it will give you some more room.

everyone forget that mechanic also has bills to pay, food to buy, rent for shop, to pay out the tens of thousands for tools etc... and even then they do many times repairs free of charge, unfortunately for you it never happened so far, but one day...

There’s amazing mechanics that do specific services very cheaply because they are easy. Fast and easy services should not be pricey. Slow and difficult services should be pricey.

A GREAT mechanic, wouldn't even rob someone by fixing this for them.
Its such an easy and simple fix, you could simply just show one, how to do it themselves.
To charge 20 bucks for something that literally takes NO MORE than 2 minutes, is a little ridiculous. This is NOT to discredit mechanics and the bills they have to pay, etc but come on lol

Darth Darkness because the left side is closest to the driver side and receives the current the strongest upon pressing the brake. If the driver side were on the right, it would go first....just kidding! I made that up. 😂🤷‍♂️

because you use left turn signal much longer and more often than right. you turned many times to the right without turning signal on, but never forget left and have to wait to incoming traffic to clear.

Thanks for the instructions! It saved me time and in my case there was a hole in the liner under the taillight so I just reached my hand up there and felt the socket. I just needed to know how to remove it without being able to see.

It really was that easy. I used a disposable lens cleaner to make sure I didn't leave oil from my fingers on the bulb, but otherwise it went exactly as shown. Perfect.

thanks for the video...I just changed my 2007 Ford Fusion tail light almost the same as 2009-2012. Saved me at least $60 from the dealership plus the time. It took me about 10 minutes to do. FYI I'm not very handy.

I've grown up working on LOTS of different vehicles. Something I've been told by many people is do not touch the glass of the bulb *with your bare hands* or the grease from your fingers will cause the bulb to burn out sooner than it should. I don't know if thats true but i always use a rubber glove or a clean napkin/ paper towel just for the peace of mind.

Except you don't want to touch the bulb with your bare hands. The oil from your hand can cause the bulb to go bad. You want to use gloves or a paper towel.

I just wiped mine with a microfiber cloth before putting it in. Honestly though it probably doesn't matter in the case of taillight bulbs. They don't get that hot and the oil will have minimal effect in my opinion.
Headlights are another story.

One word of caution, the tail light I changed was very difficult to remove from the harness. Be sure to wear gloves and wiggle it a bit....it will come loose, but it might break and you could get cut.
