A big fan of the non-rationed items. Carried & protected an avocado for 5 days while on a hike once. Was a great feeling, eating something that wasn't dehydrated/packaged/dried.

This looked like a fun video to make! On a solo bushwalk last winter on the Central Plateau, I realised I had 500g of hot chocolate mix. My luxury item 😊. Plus my thermarest airhead pillow. They were each worth every gram!

We spent a while in New Zealand tramping varous trails. We took frozen steak with us for a 9 day hike. Stashed in my pack inside of my jumper it stayed pretty frozen. We cut the edges off it that were defrosted and then stashed it in the outside meat safe. Next morning wrapped it up and kept it cool, then cut off what was defrosted. 3 days we ate steak and it was awesome!
Just a note it was freezing conditions most days and certainly overnight. I would like to try possum sometime??!!

Pumps get my vote too, just recently got a cheapie. Beats 40 big breaths to get my XL neoair inflated. Nothing like trail magic, got a bar chocolate from a guy on the Overland track while in the snow in September and another from a passing tour group on the Larapinta.

Nice video Mowser. I once took a heli ride up to the top of Fox Glacier in the South Island NZ. The pilot said that some rich billionaires called the heli company and ordered pizzas and beer to their hut halfway up the mountain. That would be cool :)

I purchased the chair zero at Xmas. So over sitting on the ground/rocks/logs. I think it's worth the 500g weight penalty.

I've got the chair zero, and i just remember my friends laughing at me, but as soon we got to camp my buddies just hopped on the chair as soon as i went to have a piss.

I just got the flextail pump zero, brilliant for the mattress and pillow, and with the new valve attachments you can just walk away and let it do its thing, but its superpower is stoking that fire, so much better than waving the hat and melting it.

Mowser, I bought a Samyang 35mm 2.8 purely for travel - its a great, tiny, pretty good quality lens.
I have a Samyang 12mm for Astro stuff. The 35mm looks like a great option. Have been looking around at 20mm lenses but I really can't afford to be making more camera purchases currently so will try and stick with what is in my arsenal! Upcoming hike will be interesting.
