- Highway Patrolman (solo acoustic) Bruce Springsteen April, 25 2005 Detroit, MI. Bruce plays this to see what reaction he gets when the word "Michigan" comes up and he wins a bet with himself. From the first night on the Devils & Dust tour
- Hudba
One afternoon in the car, I made my sons listen to this song 2x when they were in their early teens. I was making a point that day...family rule - you need to love one another. Blood is thick, but it needs something more than the genes. It seems they internalized the message. Thanks Bruce.
When Bruce wrote this song, there was not a song called "Night of the Johnstown Flood", he just made it up. People have tried to look it up for years. The Rock Creek Jug Band finally had the bright idea to name one of their songs to take advantage of all those searches.
Bruce Springsteen may be the only person who has sold 65,000,000 albums and is somehow still feels underrated...
Charley Pride sold 70 mill on RCA , only Elvis sold more
Indeed, Nebraska was a very 'pure' album.
It shows The Boss at his best.
No one sound like the Boss...only a hand full artists are so authentic...Waylon Jennings, Mark Knopfler, Townes Van Zandt....
Gives me chills.
Boy the Michiganiacs were treated well this night.
Monster Post--thanks
You're scaring me lady
this song wouldn't mean as much to anybody except to us unless u been there. TY Boss
That's a ridiculous statement....and your kind interrupted possibly the most dramatic ending to one of his songs even after Bruce asked for the crowd to not scream or interrupt while he was playing. Thanks.
?
I was referring to the depth-meaning of the lyrics... I wasn't at that show....
what a song
great song
Thanks dude.
Always great to get some extra info on such meaningful songs.
:)
A rarely playes song..nice version
Bellissima questa canzone in versione acustica!!!😅😍😍😍😘😘🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶💯
His best!
This song is up at the very top. Didjya know? Sean Penn made a movie about this song--"The Indian Runner." Good film. David Morse and Viggo Mortensen.
hey great camera work man. Thanks a lot. A lot of those "amateur captures" usualy folllow the singer but you stayed on the mic so we can see what happens. I appreciate.
Same here bro!
word!
Perrineville, NJ is an AREA, much like The Bronx or Queens in New York City. Its actually where Ashbury Park is. Its got a Zip Code (08535), which means its a real place.
But where is "Ashbury Park"?
@warflynn Folks from north of Detroit--have a great affinity for the mitten. Rock on. I know you will.
Springsteen was born in New Jersey, where did he get the southern accent from?
He inhabits characters.
@jesapizza YES WE WERE!!
Songs written about Johnstown flood in Lincoln below
@quint1977 thanks, wikipedia.
blood on blood you look the other way :-)
@11xzxzxz listen to the lyrics....this song does not take place in canada...and furthermore, there is no geographical significance to this song whatsoever....it's called creative license.
@fliptopboxband
xDxD
@walterLogan
I'm not being sarcastic buddy. I'm serious. And I'm a quiet man, no need to worry.
It's great on his "Nebraska" album but here I can't understand a damn word he's singing.
why is he trying to be like Bob Dylan?
@fliptopboxband Be quiet little one.
What language is he speaking in this song, I can't understand him?
@alexsuchapimp bruce always has been in the "Dylan" family....all of Dylan's friends sound like him..Petty.....Neil..etc lol
@alexsuchapimp why do you have to have such a limited imagination?
I prefer the cover by Johnny Cash...
