Cad knows death is natural, but goddamn the Mighty Nein have earned to be with their friend who's life was cut short. So just put it back. Give them a little more time with this person.
Fjord: "My wise friend Caduceus would say that we need to move on."
The wise friend Caduceus: "Eh, give 'em their circus man back. They deserve it. c:"
Wildmother: Oh you're a deity alright, but not a God.

I love Fjord telling Essek, "Caduceus would say that Molly's death isn't the end, but we have to accept that we can't be with him on this part of his journey" meanwhile Caduceus just says "nah" and makes a Goddess resurrect him.
Well he wasn't wrong. "Molly" didn't come back. He was taking the next step of his journey as "Kingsley"
Fjord learned the Wildmother’s teachings well, showing his character development. But Caduceus also learned-to trust his power and go outside his comfort zone for the things that really matter.
When Caduceus said "I think I could do something better" I thought he was talking about making a grave in the holy land.
Then he turned around with a smile and yelled, "LOL GOT 'EM!!!"
That's the original context, i rearranged the audio sequence to emphasize the "I can do better" line 😎

That fucking conversation between Essek and Fjord gets me to tear up every time. This is so good. Thank you for all your animations in C2.
Yeah the fact that essek wanted this so bad for his friends, a man he had never met, he knew how much it meant to them and it just wasn't fair after all they'd done.
That was *absolutely* Matt OOC weeping for them and finding a way to make it a good story moment too. And the PRIDE on Caduceus' face when Fjord's talking about the nature of death is just...[chef kiss]

@@Geth-Who that was 100% my thought too. Matt wanted that as bad as the players did.
To those saying this was OOC for Essek, I think he understood how much this meant to the M9. How much they NEEDED this as a group, as his friends. Throughout this journey into Aeor and Cognouza, he became a true blue member of this team. He never met Molly, but I think this meant just as much to him because of how much it meant to all of them. I don’t think Matt broke character, I think Essek truly felt enraged, cheated, and hurt by the failure of the ritual as the rest of them did.

The way the music kicked in with the divine intervention gave me full body chills amazing work man

I break every time I hear Yashas "is there nothing else to do... Caleb?" absolutely heartbreaking and so relatable 😔
Every line of it brakes you on so many levels that by the Wildmother's cry of revivification we are all in tears. Every. Fjoking. Time.
It's "Anakin, you're breaking my heart" all over again.
Reminds me of Grog yelling FIX HIM in Campaign 1
@@RkMaster112 Just coming to say the same thing. That Grog 'No' is heartbreaking, and even seeing Laura jump at FIX HIM was hard to see.
Matt's, "I let you live....................w-why did i let you live?" was goosebump-raisingly genius. I felt like i was watching a really good action-film.

I feel like this was possibly Caduceus most badass moment in the entire series. Just, WHAT a character moment!
He's the MVP of campaign 2 most definitely
I don't know, his verbal smackdowns of ickythong were pretty badass. No lucky dice rolls, no gods or magic. Just a guy who knows Trent is a piece of $hit who needs to be taken down the entire Fjucking ladder.
Not sure. I've not seen anyone actually win at DnD before but now I've seen both Laura and Taliesin win. Laura won twice. With the cupcake epicness and getting Travis to romantic role play. Then Taliesin with how many DI's? Seriously...
My top three Caduceus moment are:
1- Empathise
2 - Dinner at Trent's
3 - Whatever it was, just put it back
Cadeuces is maybe my favorite flat-character. He arrived, fully formed and enlightened, if a bit green to the world, and was a sounding board of growth for the rest of the cast, before ultimately giving them what they wanted in the first place and rounding out the mighty nein once they'd finished the journey. It's insane to think Taliesan pulled this char out of his ass unprepared for molly's death and made something so integral to every character's journey through the rest of the series.

The point where Fjord flies over to Essek, I half expected him to hard punt the Dark Elf into the middle distance Team Rocket style.

Although Caduses had many powerful lines, "put it back. Whatever it is, put it back. I think they deserve it" is on par with sam using his 8th level spell to counterspell vecna's teleportation
I haven't watched C1, but via fandom osmosis, I'm pretty sure it was his 9th level spell slot, the one he was planing to use to cast wish after the fight to save Liam's character.

I saw an interview where Matt said he had no idea what Sam's plan was until that exact moment. That shocked look on his face is him realizing what Sam had just sacrificed.
@@TheSpencermacdougall But then he used his final wish spell for Vex to have one more moment with her brother on her wedding day.
If they ever animate that arc (gut heart wrenching as the climax will be), they could easily throw that in. Scanlan literally shouting 9 (or rather "Nein") at Vecna as he counter spells.
I was absolutely not prepared for Cad to go full anime protagonist with that musical cue. Holy shit.
This was amazing though, the bitter sweet expressions on everyone's faces, the Fjord and Essek conversation, just all of it
thats the second time in crit role Talesin Jaffe's character has called on something greater than himself, looked it in the eyes, and told it to "Put IT back" . both times were souls
They say if something happens in multiple campaigns, its probably the actor's traits slipping out...in this case, Taliesin has clearly looked into the eyes of some fearsome, powerful beings, and instructed them to return something 😌😎😝😂
This single moment perfectly encompasses Fjords arc, and personal growth. It was so beautiful, and my absolute favorite Fjord moment of so many great ones. I believe the wild mother was watching both of her children here, and was so proud of them. As Cad said, he felt like it was his lifes purpose to end the affront to natural life that was Cognouza. They really both came so far, and I like to think she was rewarding their efforts here.

It’s almost like if you want a divine intervention, you should ask someone whose…you know…divine? 😏
Hot take: the idea of Caduceus channeling the Wildmother while still off in the corner of the arena, not even facing the body, and nobody noticing until Kingsley shoots up is fucking wonderful
Love the image of Cad decomposing the city as Fjord gives his motivational speech
At first i wanted Cad to decompose the city Thanos style but then 7-frames in i realized it was so hard to draw. That's why i just drew him planting shrooms :D

The most clutch Divine Intervention ever. The Wildmother really had their backs this campaign.
It really was. 2% roll.
Caduceus really played the, "Mom said its our turn with the Tiefling!!" card.
I love Fjord's conversation with Essek and how he has completely embraced being a paladin for the Wildmother. He gives a whole speech about the nature of life and death, showing how far he's grown since his time with Ukotoa
That Yu Yu Hakusho OST fits the mood so well, the feels hit just as hard as Yusuke.
Caduceus is the epitome of: "I'm about to do what is called a pro gamer move..."
and says "Somebody clip that" afterwards

Very emotional moments, characters truly getting to learn the binds of mortality, Essek being humbled on his temporal researches, Fjord stepping up as a true Paladin of the Wild Mother, dropping Caduceus' seeds of wisdom on how life goes on and you need to learn to mourn for life to continue...
Caduceus himself: So anyway, how about we don't need all that drama, huh?

since no one is talking about it I will:
Fjord's "if you were to ask my wise friend Cadeuceus" speech really just showed how much he has grown as a follower of the Wildmother himself. Even when he said it, you could see on Taliesin how proud and happy he was that Travis really *got* it. idk I just really liked that moment, and I adore how it was animated here
Fjord: But if you were to ask my wise friend Caduceus I'm sure he would tell you that life continues on, it changes, it evolves and it grows.
Caduceus: Oh it continues on alright. *succeeds on a sub 20 percent chance to speed dial god and do something that should have been by all accounts impossible*
The use of sad Yu Yu Hakasho music is so much better when you remember that Laura Bailey voiced Kayko and many of her scenes used this music.
I cried so much when the resurrection spell failed
And then I sobbed, LOUDLY, when he was brought back.
I love how Cad's line originally made me think "Oh they'll bury him at the blooming grove! That's brilliant!". Then divine intervention was just like how about a full revival?

@@Kadel___ Yeah, the lines are actually somewhat out of order - the whole "There is a hill next to a road" bit and Caduceus saying "I think I can do something better" was before the rest iirc and referring to the Blooming Grove - it's why Jester says he was destined to become dead people tea.

It is obvious that darling @morbidnumbskull has reordered the lines to their view of the scene, which I find very invoking, very well put and perfectly fitting. Long may he reign.
Great animation, I think you captured the emotions of the scenes well. The talk with Travis and Matt was a great moment. Matt really vented through Essek how sad he was about the resurrection ceremony failing. They all care a lot for each other.
But the Wildmother clearly had other plans.

I love how casual Cadeucus is. Like "I might as well try this thing." As always love the expressions of everyone. And their reactions to Cadeucus are just perfect. And I loved the wildmother just totally providing the background track!

it upset me that taliesan wouldnt let molly truly come back. This moment was so emotional, I realize it fits molly's ark. but still..
My theory is: jesters greater restoration changed his plans. Tal had planed on letting Molly come back slowly, but when Jester "jumpstarted" him, he wasn't given the time he needed to recover, so Kingsley formed instead. Again, that's just my theory, and I have no proof (well, except the "hints" he gives, like about wakeing up early from a hangover).
Adding onto it, they probably knew the campaign was coming to an end on top of it. And I also felt that Talisen knew Molly’s death held meaning so to just bring him back as he was would not have had as strong of an effect as it did
@@AnimeLover930 I suppose. But that decision sort of took away from the beauty of cad’s divine intervention in my opinion. It was a long time since his death. His return with such a powerful moment I feel would have just added to the journey and given it a more emotional close. It was great and pirate Kingsley sounds fun. But I’m still disappointed a little
