My friend made this without any tutorial, he calls it the Depth Strider, it's gone through 5 versions of tweaking and this airbike is amazingly practical and useful
Another essential cheap design I've used is a long log (the kind like you chopped down on the great plateau in the first game to cross the chasm) with a platform at each end and a stake in the back. Instant double-ascend platforms for climbing high when it's raining
I like how you explained why the airbike's design is fundamentally superior from an engineering standpoint using physics. Maybe you can make more videos analyzing different TOTK vehicles and mechs and explaining their design flaws and how to make them better.
Finally, someone made an actual analysis of the two builds. Really like the points you made, especially the landing orientation and korok placement convenience factors.
The main issue I have with this device is that it allows me to cheese so much of the game that I often see the devs “intended” design of getting me to the objective and am left with a feeling if missing out on the casual experience because I’m just zooming through the game so I limit myself on using it sometimes
The depths kinda grew on me when I realized how much more powerful every trip down there made me. Facing the challenges of the Depths make Link ascend to literal Godhood in this game
Great design, following how you made the bike I think it’s actually easier if you try to line up the parts so that they are a little further away. What I mean is when your holding the fan close to the steering stick you can back up while holding it with ultrahand and look at how the green goop is attaching from one end to the other. Then just try to line up as best you can. I managed to make the bike fly straight forward after a few tries so it’s definitely possible for anyone else who’s a perfectionist and wants it to fly straight.
I built one of these the other day after seeing the goblin glider and thinking it could be improved. Glad to see the man himself had the same thought process.
My favorite vehicle I have made is the Hudson cutout found in Tarrey town with a steering stick and 3 45 degree angle fans, one at each of his shoulders and one at the back. While there is obvious a lot of efficiency lost from using an extra fan and an extra body part, not to mention the fact that said body part is only found in one location so most of the time you are auto building it. It has three advantages that I really like: 1) It glides along the ground by default, rather than constantly rising into the air. it still CAN fly when you pull back to gain height, but when you don't need the altitude, you don't have to play the altitude management game, you can just glide along smooth terrain and just go. It also makes landing it and stopping it much easier. 2) It floats. I found with the glider I was always worried about taking it over water for fear I would be unable to fish it out and then be stuck. This thing works as a boat so if I run out of power on the water I can just float. This also lets me use it on land, sea, and air. 3) It's funny as heck to be flying around on a lifesize cutout of Hudson. I took mine on a tour of Hyrule including up to the temple of Time on the large sky island (it took a few energy items to make it up there but still), and ending up in Gerudo town so Maddison could have a picture of her father, it worked pretty well. The Bike in this video is probably still better for most uses, but it is a fun ride if you want to try it. Just get the symmetry right, I ended up settling for a very minor tilt to the left in my final build but i only notice that over long distances.
every time you pick up the fan with A, it's automatically rotated to the exact same position in your hands. you can then place it on the floor and know it will be consistent. works with anything you can pick up and hold.
I’d recommend putting a wooden wheel parallel to the stick on the lip of the back fan so it’s right underneath the stick (slightly to the back) Doing this makes your flight path level (so you only go up when pulling back and only go down when pushed forward) and auto uprights your device on landing!
@@multilink1748 not that I know of sorry, I also found out you can fuse items to shields for very little extra weight but a much bigger hitbox so once I find something that works best I might make a video myself
the goblin glider works incredibly well in water, making it also your best watercraft. in fact, when the fans go under water, they become way more efficient, allowing even a beginning player to travel long distances with very little battery.
I added upon the Goblin Glider by adding a Shrine Crystal (the green crystal you take to a shrine location to unlock a shrine) to the back of the Steering stick and on the tip of the Crystal i placed a 3rd fan at the same angle of the fans attached to the steering stick and it solves all the problems you discussed so it looks more like a dragonfly now. The Tail also gives the new added mobility the bike has, Auto build will save the crystal to your build when you favorite it so even after delivering the crystal you can still use the design permanently.
While i enjoy the concept of having a goblin glider, i can have the best of both worlds simply by wearing the goblin hat and glide armor while on the airbike.
Just wanna say THANK YOU, this air bike has been a life saver because I was running around the Depths on foot and it was taking so long and was so much work but this has absolutely changed the game - been sending this to everyone I know who's been playing TotK, your work is well appreciated!!
The exact same design, but with a small, flat, rectangular plank in between the front fan and the back fan is my favourite design, even though it's 3 zonite more expensive and cannot be made entirely free. The reason is that with the plank when not touching the control stick, you go perfectly level. Great for crossing large amounts of land and just hovering above the ground looking for things to land for, like zonite, without having to press forward on the control stick every so often. This design is faster though because of less weight, but cannot go down as fast as the plank design.
user Burgundy a little further down in the comments found a way to do this with a wooden wheel, that might be a little more weight efficient? I'd assume wheels weigh less
4:36 Wow I thought I was the only one since botw who used the Skull pin to mark wandering boss locations. Okay the selling point for me was the usefulness it has in traveling the Depths. When the bargainer statue gave me the Dark Tunic, I knew I had to find his brethren in order to complete my favorite zelda outfit ever. Traveling the Depths was no small challenge and it's been my favorite part of the game so far, I've found 5 out of the 6 bargainer statues so far and this airbike will make this last bargainer statue a cake-walk to find now.
it's great to see someone like uncle Dane revering the best flying machine I use a variation which makes fans closer together but it works just as well if not better and I've been using it to traverse the depths. It's been a lifesaver definitely my most used favorite autobuild
I just tried using this while Lightroot hunting and it was actually the coolest shit I think I’ve ever played even with three batteries, it was great fun just zooming into the darkness with just a little brightbloom for support and yet it’s also so rickety-looking that it just makes me laugh; literally just an engine with a seat it’s great
I think more videos like this on this channel would be awesome, basically solving practical engineering problems in other games. ToTK has been a blast for me and I know I haven't been utilizing the Zonai tech nearly as much as I could be, so this will be a game changer. thank you ankle dan
Thanks so much for this video! I'm "build-challenged", but with your detailed instructions, I was able to put it together successfully. One thing I did differently (because it was *much* easier to attach it in the correct spot) was to stand behind the first fan when attaching the steering stick because from that vantage point I could see the edge of the fan AND the edge of the steering stick. IOW, I didn't have the platform of the steering stick obstructing my view. My AirBike flies perfectly; now I'm off to practice landing!
The seed/brightbloom is a game changer for any vehicle underground. been using traditional glide with rockets and fans to get around, will have to try this.
To get better alignment I turned the steering stick upside to attached the fan to the front, the trick is holding R so the arrows show you where the middle of the fan is and line up the steering stick, dotted line and red arrow. Then prop the steering stick/fan on a vertical wood board and attach the back fan
When I tried the glider, it went horribly wrong. I'm hoping this air bike design should do the trick. I have noticed that it does not reach as high into the sky as I would like. I really want to reach those islands that are very high up, such as that one star-shaped island above Central Hyrule. The only problem is that I think I'll nee a lot of Zonaite Charges to get up there with the bike. Also, balloon are out of the question as they despawn when you least expect them. UPDATE: I have found that using the Recall ability on the hover bike keeps it afloat in the air. I tried this before with the hot air balloons, and it worked then. If the balloon remained instead of despawning, I wouldn't have tried anything else. Anyway, the trick is to keep flying until you're almost out of battery power. Once you reach that pont, shut the machine down; however, make sure you hit the machine with the Recall ability as soon as possible. You will find that your battery power will recharge over time. Also, you could cancel the Recall ability and then try again on the flying machine to keep it airborne longer. It's ever so useful, and I even managed to reach some really high sky islands!
Ive found that if you copy the brightbloom and create it with the selection menu You can activate the bloom to destroy the creation, i wonder if it could be used to create detacheable devices or something.
after trying out several ways to build the air bike i found that the way you explained and showed how to build it has been the most easy to understand and build. thank you very much. off to explore the underworld (im old school zelda i will always refer the depths as that)
If you get the fans positioned _just_ right, you can have it so that as well as flying straight, it also flies level without any stick input (but retains the ability to pitch up and down to ascend/descend!)
This is such a good build. One thing I will say is I found it easier to build whilst standing on the ground beside the platform. Particularly for the first fan this lets you see your connection point and get it centered way easier. And on the second fan I managed to stick it on at the rim which seems to work nicely.
One thing I will say about getting the steering stick even and straight: part gluing seems to like to snap to an invisible grid, so looking to see where it's wanting to connect to and comparing it to how the part is rotated might help a bit.
I CAN'T believe I didn't think to use a bloom on the airbike itself...oof. Will definitely be doing this from now on. Funny how we miss solutions right in front of us sometimes lol
Build it easier like this: take 2 boards and arrange them into a T shape. Flip the T so the flat side sits on the flat ground. Mount the steering stick at the top of the T, tilted 45 degrees upward. Mount the first fan at the back of the steering stick. Since the steering stick is already tilted 45 degrees, you can attach the fans unrotated. It's much easier to align when mounted to the unmoving boards. You can attach both fans this way, but if you want to save it with autobuild, break off the vertical board of the T after you've attached the first fan, sit the bike on it's back fan, move to the front, and attach the front fan. If you attach the front fan while mounted to the T foundation, your autobuild history won't register the bike alone after you break off the foundation, but the bike+foundation.
I saw this somewhere online and been using it for days now, absolutely love it. It's easier to build it in one of those depth build stations. The front of the fans are cone shaped, fortunately, they sit upright in those stations
I was always really disappointed when I couldn’t just build a plane with the wings. I built a plane to leave the sky island before I had the paraglider and when it disappeared from underneath me I learned my lesson quick.
@@octapusxft Nintendo didn't expect ppl bypassing that limit by building a Hooverbike without the need of the wings that's why this thing is so broken
I had been trying to figure out what the best hover craft was for quite a while, and I figured out a steering stick and two fans was the best method. I actually got PRETTY close to this design (with some iteration), and now I can see where I messed up, that's amazing!
I feel like once you can actually utilize these contraptions you've probably explored a lot of the game already anyway, especially the depths considering that's where you need to go for the energy cell currency. I made one of the gliders when I had around 2 full energy cell bars and it was honestly just easier to warp to the nearest sky island and glide to get to where I wanted to go lol
I’m sure you have a million zonai charges, they refill battery and there’s armor that also helps battery, I feel like you also probably haven’t “explored” the game as deeply as you think
Thank you so much, this is by far the best hover bike build I’ve seen on YT, I can basically AFK while riding this thing. But I only have 2 and a quarter battery pack😂
I find it helpful to find a straight line on flat ground somewhere to make the airbike, and staned on le line and build stuff on the very edge of your range also on the line. for me it was on one of the spinny platforms in the sky with the cannons. That helps make everything perfectly balanced and symmetrical.
I have tried several traversal vehicles people have shared ob CZcams. This one is my favorite. Easiest to control, doesn't loose too much forward thrust, and pressing forward keeps it lower to the ground and moves faster. 9/10 build. There is a 10/10 out there but I haven't found it yet.
Another helpful tip. While standing in one spot, you can rotate the wheel before grabbing the steering column. This will center you to the rotation of the wheel. Which makes it easier to place it on evenly.
I've tried the goblin glider and as cool as it looks, I kept having issues with taking off, maneuvering, and accessing the steering stick. This one looks a lot more manageable. I can't wait to get out of work and go try it!
Ok WOW!!! I've seen this bike design everywhere but I haven't built one yet. Made one today because I was trying to get to an area in the Depths. HOLY COW did it change the experience down there!! NO MORE CLIMBING!! Hahahahaha Thank you so so so much! Also I appreciate the detail you put into describing the design.
Holy crap this is fantastic. I built this really quick and is the first build I've taken from someone else. It works like a dream. I even have a variant with batteries on it.
Spent 2 hours yesterday trying to get the hang of the goblin glider and wondered why no one mentioned how annoying it was to use. Glad you mentioned that super early in the vid
I used the lines in the wood paneling on the big platform in front of Tarrey Town Race to help me line everything up centered. I also assembled everything from behind the back fan to help me, you know, see what I'm doing. Worked perfectly the first try with that strategy. Kept failing to make everything centered about those lines in the floor.

Another essential cheap design I've used is a long log (the kind like you chopped down on the great plateau in the first game to cross the chasm) with a platform at each end and a stake in the back. Instant double-ascend platforms for climbing high when it's raining
Holy fuck I never even considered that
Thanks!
Uncle Dane found a way to play engineer in other games …
Now we need the full engie set, a Dispenser Teleporter and Sentry
(Even through the teleporter is uhh redundant but wanted to put it in anyway)
Just plop down one of the tracking pedestals (forget the name) and attach whatever weapon you want

Damn this is perfect for the depths! I don’t enjoy going there. This bike will help. Thanks!
hi Pewdiepie
this looks amazing as well as the horse pulling wagon, seen it!

The depths kinda grew on me when I realized how much more powerful every trip down there made me. Facing the challenges of the Depths make Link ascend to literal Godhood in this game
I'll do this for my depths adventure today. The gloom is so bad where I'm at
Great design, following how you made the bike I think it’s actually easier if you try to line up the parts so that they are a little further away.
Link is the Engineer from TF2 is now canon.
Also, its worth mentioning that brightblooms stay bright when you dismount, making it easy to find it if you have a goofy landing, and it slides away.
It has three advantages that I really like:
1) It glides along the ground by default, rather than constantly rising into the air. it still CAN fly when you pull back to gain height, but when you don't need the altitude, you don't have to play the altitude management game, you can just glide along smooth terrain and just go.
He solves practical problems
You're the first person I've seen who *actually* built this correctly! I used an airbike dozens of times in the past week to map a bunch of the depths
I love this
Thank you for the non-aggressive thumbnail, non committal delivery and non-presumptuous title
This is actually helpful
Thank you
every time you pick up the fan with A, it's automatically rotated to the exact same position in your hands. you can then place it on the floor and know it will be consistent. works with anything you can pick up and hold.
I’d recommend putting a wooden wheel parallel to the stick on the lip of the back fan so it’s right underneath the stick (slightly to the back)
Doing this makes your flight path level (so you only go up when pulling back and only go down when pushed forward) and auto uprights your device on landing!
I wanna see this in practice have you seen this anywhere on youtube?
@@multilink1748 not that I know of sorry, I also found out you can fuse items to shields for very little extra weight but a much bigger hitbox so once I find something that works best I might make a video myself
imagine being a little bokoblin walking around your favourite field and some hero twink with an Oppressor Mk.II swoops down and explodes you
They finally added drone strikes to zelda
There's a satellite cannon too...
Honestly any symmetrical arrangement of these three parts makes a very good vehicle
the goblin glider works incredibly well in water, making it also your best watercraft. in fact, when the fans go under water, they become way more efficient, allowing even a beginning player to travel long distances with very little battery.
This works amazingly well and is so easy to make once you got the blueprint down. Love it.
You’re making things overly complex mate.
@@benbest2916 nothing wrong with a little complexity mans just wants some more fashionable travel
While i enjoy the concept of having a goblin glider, i can have the best of both worlds simply by wearing the goblin hat and glide armor while on the airbike.
The green goblin glider makes me feel like I have a comically oversized mallet in my pocket though
I would love to see more videos like this highlighting creative zelda builds!
ay yo, gromek plays totk? cool
Man I'm so amazed... like... the community makes the game look even greater than it already is
I just tried using this while Lightroot hunting and it was actually the coolest shit I think I’ve ever played
even with three batteries, it was great fun just zooming into the darkness with just a little brightbloom for support
and yet it’s also so rickety-looking that it just makes me laugh; literally just an engine with a seat
it’s great
I think more videos like this on this channel would be awesome, basically solving practical engineering problems in other games.
My AirBike flies perfectly; now I'm off to practice landing!
uncle dane please do more of these miscellaneous videos you can totally make successful videos not about tf2
This is the best video to ever show up in my recommended vids. I’m gonna use this design all the time now. Thanks for showing!
Some fine engineering here.
I have immediately incorporated this into my playthrough and it's such a game changer in the depths, thank you for your service.
The brightbulb tip was the best part of this video for me, thanks!
I'm subscribed to 2uncle2dane but not the main channel.
I'm still waiting for him to make another deep rock or sea of thieves video.
I built this yesterday and it is now the most useful thing in my autobuild favourites. Thanks!
You went to all that effort to type it out and I can almost guarantee 100% of people can't follow what the hell you're trying to explain.
just link an image brub, sounds cool but me too dumb
thank you mr dane i will use this a lot
I saw this somewhere online and been using it for days now, absolutely love it. It's easier to build it in one of those depth build stations. The front of the fans are cone shaped, fortunately, they sit upright in those stations
I've not fooled around much with builds, so this is awesome. Thanks!
I was always really disappointed when I couldn’t just build a plane with the wings. I built a plane to leave the sky island before I had the paraglider and when it disappeared from underneath me I learned my lesson quick.
The timeout on the wing parts and the balloon parts are unfortunate flaws
@@octapusxft Nintendo didn't expect ppl bypassing that limit by building a Hooverbike without the need of the wings that's why this thing is so broken
@@doomslayer8985 Honesty, I cannot imagine 6 years of testing not having people figuring that out before the players
Actually genius, holy shit
Glad I came acros this channel. This bike is amazing for the underground. Thank you so much.
I have been using the regular horizontal air segway and had so many issues with it, but I couldn't think of what else to make. Thanks for this video
its so funny to me hearing a totk video voiced by the man the myth the engie main uncle dane
Ok now make an ICBM
I had been trying to figure out what the best hover craft was for quite a while, and I figured out a steering stick and two fans was the best method. I actually got PRETTY close to this design (with some iteration), and now I can see where I messed up, that's amazing!
I tried this, just by using the thumbnail alone before I watch the video and it’s amazing! I had to come back and watch the video and give you props.
Easier, maybe, but for short-distance stuff, or even just for fun, the air bike is better.
I’m sure you have a million zonai charges, they refill battery and there’s armor that also helps battery, I feel like you also probably haven’t “explored” the game as deeply as you think
6:35 🤨
You, my friend, have revolutionised my exploration of this world. The Depths, especially!
Thanks for this 👍
I kept getting the angles wrong and was hard to control. This video helped me immensely thank you!!!
Ok but how do I build a dispenser
This was an absolute game changer for me! Thanks SO much for sharing it!
Tysm man , it's so much fun to ride and with the "large zonai charge" you can fly non stop. Good to find shrines
I have been converted. Never even considered using a brightoom seed for light on a vehicle. Mind blown.
You can’t even imagine how much this helped me in the depths
Of COURSE the Engie main solves a practical problem in an efficient manner!
Sir, I think you've single handedly solved my woes with building and traversal in this game. Thank you.
