  • If you have a DIY CNC, you are doing yourself a disservice if you aren't using Linux CNC with the Probe Basic Graphic User Interface. The time savings are massive and LinuxCnc is cheap to get into. It will take some learning, but it is well worth it from the time saving and cost saving stand point. If you have any questions, please let me know. I plan on eventually making a guide from start to finish on installing Probe Basic on a computer with nothing on it. Some of the problems I had to deal with include having to add a graphics card, and I needed to copy all the subroutines into the G code examples folder LinuxCnc.

Hi Andrew, I’m glad to chat too, sorry for the slow reply! So far I’ve had a good experience using Probe Basic. For someone new to CNC, I find it much easier to use over the axis GUI. I have plans on adding a tool height probe and linear encoders and eventually servo motors. I will watch a few of your videos. Nice Mill! I plan on buying a Fadal sometime. Anyway, I’m replying 3 days late because I didn’t see your comment until just now. My email is philliplletrub@gmail.com, I will get a notification right away. Anyway, have a nice weekend.

Yours is hooked up wrong! The light should only turn on when the probe is touching
