Ever since I tracked down and found my first car back in 2022, I have been wanting to build it into my dream spec Honda Del Sol, exactly the way I wish I could have built it back in 2013. Is my first car Save-able and worthy to rebuild? Or will I have to build a new Chassis with my favorite parts from my First car? Let me know what you guys think down in the comments, and happy 2024! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Just leave the rusted car how it is and build the white car
💯
Agreed, best of both worlds.
The rat look kinda looks cool as yard art (with the engine and interior stripped out)
Agree
I wouldn’t lie x Keep the OG del sol that started your CZcams career and just rebuild the white one
If it was up to me I'd do the same but fix the structural parts of the ruinedsol and keep it for nostalgia and the new one a nice pearl white and a nice b series clean car nice wheels beautiful daily driver
I don’t think I can express how excited I am to see you doing this build. I’ve been here since the del sol and this is gonna be awesome to watch
I know the guy who had the delsole he was in a car crew I was in an was planning to do a k swap to it
Seeing this car feels like coming home.... I may be a couple thousand miles away..... but seeing the Old Sol, takes me back to my childhood room watching this car for the first time. Thank you for bringing it back and Happy New Year !
Love seeing the route your going here. When you originally found it I was inspired to find my first vehicle. A 1993 Nissan Hardbody (pickup) I got my Junior year of high school (2001) and sold in 2009. It was modded in typical minitruck style of the early 2000's. 5/6 static drop, shaved rear end, full blue paint job and some painted interior pieces. After about a month of searching in early 2022 (13 years after selling it) I found my truck sitting in a salvage yard in Florida. I was able to buy it and luckily it was complete and hadn't had much sold off of it (just the fuel rail). It was also very similar to how I sold it. After about 6 months I got it running again and road worthy and have been enjoying it. The nostalgia is real with your first vehicle and I'm glad you inspired me to search for mine!
Yay starting the year with Del Sol content! I remember talking to you on Honda-Tech when you were trying to figure out what you wanted to do with it. I was so shocked when I ran across it as RuinedSol.
this del sol brought so much memories back and young mike making it was fun. time for a change with it.
damnnnn what a throwback!!! crazy to see young Stephen and the old videos, even crazier to think about how long ago that really was and how much you both grew. Congrats Mike!
I just got a 97 si with absolutely 0 rust and complete, all OEM and matching vins I'm so so excited and I'm glad I stumbled upon ur channel!
I totally understand that the original sol would be a ton of work to get back to its glory days. I’m excited to see what you do with the new shell and can’t wait to watch the process!
Can't wait to see what you do with it! Definitely think you should paint it white. Make a super clean delsol and keep the rusted one as is. Even if its a driveway ornament.
Amazing, your story is really similar to my, when I purchased my first car, Honda del Sol 93, It was prime ready for paint, drove it for about 8 years, sold it and them purchased back for the same reason you did. My Del Sol is park in my back yard waiting for me to rebuilt it.
I am an original owner of 1997 Honda Del Sol Si. It has 222,000 miles. I have maintained it for 27 years. I remember when the 1993
Came out. They offered the S And the Si. The S was the starter version. Since you are rebuilding it and you are modifying
Please had a rear sway bar. Driving the Del Sol without a sway bar is no fun. My 1997 Si has front and rear sway bars . The only thing it does not have is antilock breaks. My car is a five speed manual. It is so reliable. The car is quick enough for me. It will easily cruise
100 miles per hour. If you have never driven a manual Del Sol you are in for a treat. I am looking at going upto a 15 inch wheels
I am going to go for a Recaro seats. I have never been a fan of the stock seats. I also use Bosche 4 prong platinum spark plugs
It made quite a difference. The car instantly start without any hesitation. Best of luck with your car. You may find that you keep
Your uprated Del Sol. It reminds of a slot car. I still love the way it goes. Believe it or not it is my only car. I do have access to
another car but rarely use it. I like the maneuverability of the car
That first full minute of this video kinda struck a chord for me. Your channel has been with me for a good chunk of my life (7-8 years) and it’s crazy to see the del Sol clips again compared to the NSX and where you are now. The nostalgia was real for a minute.
I can’t wait to see this build! I think you’re on the right path with how you want to build it but it would be so sick to see this thing how you would build it now compared to how you did back then. the rusted sol is what started it all and this car should be a tribute to it just with all the different knowledge and styling you have grow to love over the years incorporated into the new chassis.
Yes! I’ve been on my Sol project for two years and it’s finally running and cleaned up. Your project will be good inspiration for others too!
If i could have my first car back, id do it without a second thought, even if it was in a unrestorable condition. i rather have it in my life as a decoration then not be able to connect with it ever again. Something as simple as sitting in it and listening to the exhaust tone would make me happy on my worst days, even if i couldnt take it around the block without dying
I would have so gone on this trip to pick it up... Them FL boys is legit!
So stoked for this Mike! Love how far you've come and am beyond words with how proud I am of you and your work🙌
I've been following you since your ruined sol IG had 900 subs. Bought my fit back in 2013 and you were one of the first people I followed and inspired me to get involved with my shit.
Look at you now dude.
Proud of ya
The ruined sol needs to become lawn art at the compound. Fits the vibe there and it would have a forever home
Funny thing is the Del Sol groups are where I first knew you from when I started seeing the ruined sol being posted around. A lot of people hated on it but a lot of people loved it including myself. I miss my del sol Vtec, I'd love to find mine and rebuild it nowadays so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with this!
Love it man. I had a Del Sol as my first car right at the same time you were building the ruined sol and it was one of my fav builds out there for years. Definitely a little far gone but hype to see you start another Del Sol.
Mike. When you are done harvesting parts of the OG car, cut the driver's side off it lengthwise from inside the headlight all the way back, put some bracing under it and mount it on the wall in your garage.
Love the idea of re-building a Del Sol as you would've if you had your current resources. A couple years back I had a Yaris S that I loved, but it was rusty and high miles. Found a clean base Yaris, and I moved all the S bits (interior, wheels, etc) to that clean base. Allowed my first Yaris to live on through a cleaner car (that is still my daily driver)
Conocí tu canal por el Del Sol, específicamente el vídeo con la máscara. Que gusto ver qué está de vuelta. Por cierto que bien se ve ese NSX 🤤🙌🏼
That throwback transition intro was dope
your sol and a few others is why i ended up getting a 95 del sol si. I ended up getting mine for free from a lady in my neighborhood. id love to see a comeback and a new build.
still got it?
Excited to see what you can turn that del sol into! Hyped for ya man
This video just brought me baaaaaaackkkkkk, glad to see how far you've come mike. Congrats man happy New Year 🎉
i see it this way, even if the rat-sol wont be around anymore its a representation of what you where able to do with your car at that stage in life, now your oppertunities have changed, your abilities have grown and you can finally move on to build the car you actually wanted from the start.
That white del sol reminds me of when i had mine, i put in the gsr seats, manual, i miss it, ill be watching your build this car, keep the legacy goin 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼happy new year brotha!!
The ruined sol is how I found your channel! Can’t wait to see the new build
Leave the OG del sol as is for that nostalgic effect.
It literally started with you from day 1.
Rebuild the white one ofc
This is going to be awesome. I love the idea and excited to see this. Bout to watch part 1 right!!!
Love the fact that you are choosing to keep the single jingle... Im all for this build.
biggest shout out to brad! we met up for parts before. super solid dude!
Oh im hyped!!! Been waiting for some Sol love. Holy heck i remember seeing this on the old RustGang page and started following your work ever since
Honestly I’d say leave the ruined sol as is, leave it sitting doing its thing, build the white one from fresh, and do it how you wanted to do. Plus with a K swap or maybe B series
Much love Mike happy new year. 🥰🎉❤❤
Super excited to see what you do with the engine and refreshing the car!
This is so cool to see! I remember watching you in high school when I decided I want my first car to be a del sol 😂 poetic you have it back and another one 🙌🏻
Love this! Remember watching you build the sol!
I cant believe its been so long since the ruined sol came to be, i remember watching your videos when you first started on it and it inspired me to go wild with my ef hatch many years ago
I’m so happy for you and excited to see this build! I’ll also be working on my 93 del sol s this winter doing my lsvtec head swap and refreshing the b18 some to keep her running good
Can't wait to see the build start!
This is awesome! Will be following! This past October I bought a 95 civic coupe. I went through a few of these coupes when I was in high school and throughout my struggle young adulthood so I had the same idea recently. I’m excited to see this buddy!
super pumped! been subbed from the del sol days!!!!!
I have a delsol myself, so seeing this definitely sparks my interest!! 🔥 I remember seeing yours all over CZcams
You probably don't want to go crazy with this build but have you thought about doing a K-series? It seems like it would outperform the D-series in stock form, and would be more cost effective for higher horsepower. In fact there's a couple K-series engines for sale in Palm Bay FL if you're interested. Idk if that's close to you or not but it's always worth a mention, really looking forward to the build!
So glad you are doing delsol content. They deserve the love man .
As a long time follower of both yourself and Adam and a del sol owner myself I am stoked to see this build!
I've been watching from back when you were building this car. Happy to see it
It’s crazy that I been wanting for that long. Love you Mike. Keep the vids going. I remember u doing the paint on the sol. I remember u we’re paint brushing all the fighter pilot rivets n what not
Im so hype for this build!!
I've been waiting for this, the whole reason I got my Del Sol is bcuz of Ruined Sol. So stoked on this project
This is so cool I'm excited for you and can't wait to see what it becomes to be and I can't wait to watch this build.
This is going to motivate me to get started on my Sol project. Thanks mike
Dude I am so excited for you man. I just purchased a shell to. I hopelly we can have our del sols meet again like the old days haha.
I would love to see the same "concept" with maybe a faux patina and a crazy engine bay. All I can say is don't copy what you had exactly, but pay homage to the essence of the rat rod/bomber vibe with 2024 parts and a new outlook. You've always had dope taste in builds and I think if you take that experience and apply it to creating something outside of the box you'll kill it
You are about to make the hardest del sol. I’m hyped!
Was a proud member of the rust bucket community back in ‘13! I remember following your Instagram and watching this car develop. Glad to see how far you’ve come!
I can't wait for the build to start. I agree that white would be easy. I just think a different color would be awesome. As you already have white and black cars.
I think a body kit kit and a turbo would make this build sick! A fast, small car and really nimble.
this thing is so timeless I remember seeing it as a kid at the big car meets like broke east
Repainting it frost white is the easiest and safest route for sure. If you wanna stand out, i suggest painting it the rare color - samba green pearl (engine bay, door jambs, everything). If you're looking for an even more rare color - adriatic blue pearl - which was used exclusively for the 1998 crx/del sol Motegi (only 500 manufactured in that color in germany). To compliment the blue exterior, the interior was finished in a combination of orange leather and black. I know how stunning it looks because - i actually have an imported Motegi Sol sitting in my garage. Take my word on it, the car is an absolute head turner. Good luck on your color decision.
It is interesting to see the diferences in the build between the "del sol" and the "sentury" completly oposite style. With the level of attention for detail, i know that what ever the route you take with the Del Sol will be aweosome.
Happy New Year🎉🎉🎉
My first car I bought with my own money is my 94 del sol. Been my daily since. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
I definitely will be watching this build! I have a 93 of my own that I've sorta restored over the years. Only has 83k on it now..Been bored with it lately but I hope watching your build will change that!
EXCITED FOR THIS BUILD MAN! LETS GOO
Very nice mike ! Sometimes the dream has to live on in another shell , doesn’t change the memories! Just makes more!
Hell yeah! Happy new year, Mike! Gonna do the electric roof conversion from the japanese models too? Looking forward to that build!
With the way that you stylize your builds... This is gonna be so damn dope! Can't wait.
The del sol is the reason I bought my del sol and I'm so happy to see you doing this. I miss mine but like you said the prices are crazy now. This is gonna make me spend some money haha.
I'm totally here for this. The NSX & Supra are sweet, but you don't see so many Del Sol builds.
Smart idea to re-create your youthful dream car with the new solid chassis and OG parts from the rust-bucket. The D16 with a few basic internal upgrades, ((better springs and retainers, forged rods and pistons) and a small turbo setup can get you a safe 200/250 hp instead of 107/135 hp that will make it feel like a shifter cart!
Hello! I so excited about the sol content. White is the color man. My first car was at 17 and was a 95 Del Sol s five speed. Just a kid wanting to do big thing on a budget of 0. I miss driving that car!
The video I was waiting for since last time you brought the del sol back
Let’s go! I’m excited for this one 🔥🍿🍿
Can’t wait for this going to be so good to watch 😊
Looking forward to this build! I kind of wish you would put another engine I it. A B-series would be so cool! But they’re probably mad expensive and since you already have the D-series I totally understand why you want to go that route.
I am so freaking excited for this build. You don't see Del Sols anymore. Can't wait to see what you do with this Mike.
So excited for this going to miss the ruined sol look but glad your making this new one yours
Gotta love the honda community, super excited to see the new build man
a del sol is one of my dream cars and will def be my first car in abt a year, cant wait!
Been watching you since before you put out "Hurtin Feelings". Congratulations on your success Mike!
N/A B16 would be a nice touch !!
Yoo Del Sol Bro!! I'm 19 and plan to post soon about my Del Sol projects! Loving the content Honda Bro!
Mike spec del sol sounds awesome, good luck!
Videography and edging on point jesus🤯. Insanely good camera work bro
I think painting the new shell a rust orange color would be a great homage. My bugeye wagon is just starting to show some signs of age from living it’s life in New England and I’d love to find a similar shell at some point
Holy cow I thought about this car the other day, same with my CZcams name lol, made this in highschool when “hellaflush” was cool and I followed everyone in the scene and this was one of my favorites! I was wondering what happened to it, about 8 years later I now drive a 2003 GTI and my 2018 Golf R but these old Honda builds will always be cool to me!
I been watching Adam lz without knowing who you truly was. We use to play cartown together on Facebook years ago. When I lost my Facebook I lost following you. Glad I found out who you was and see what you have become
Your delsol inspired me a lot on one of my old civics
It’s been so long ever since you had the Del Sol and then got the green civic, and you have accomplished so much, and I haven’t done anything with my life… im guilty for it tho… i better get to work just like you!
That’s my second car. Had it with a buddy club kit with racing hart c5. Can’t wait to see your build.
I’m excited for this build!!! Let’s go!!!
Let’s do it can’t wait to see 🤙🏾
Looking forward to this, hoping it will make me want to finish my Del Sol as well.
Yay Mike I’m so keen for this series I’ve been on Del Sol Group for years and followed your story from Aus since the start - it would be amazing if you could do a Dakbill in honour of our friend Dakota 🕊️
The edits keep getting better and better!
